Elk herds of up to 50 head or so.... do keep your distance they are wild .... and big redwood trees. Lots of nature abounds .... mountain biking trails with climbs and down hill not ski park speed trails but still fun. Rivers and fishing the coast has to be seen to be believed. HUMBOLDT county has a total population of around 130,000 and you dont see that many folks out and about. Hiking on the trails that the bikes aren't allowed on. Oh and horse back riding if you do a little research on them you can arrange trail rides. A d the best part - fresh air.
Its one of the most beautiful places on earth. The trees are magnificent and awe inspiring. The quiet of untouched nature, the ferns, the misty mornings... There is no better place to be.
For myself it was all of it. The scenic drives and hikes along with the beaches in the area were all amazing. My health was not 100% so we just did the less difficult hikes and it was all doable. Have plenty of memory card space if U go cause around every turn there is a new photo opportunity.
Hard to explain in words the majesty of this place. My whole life I thought, o-well, they are just big trees. Then 7 years ago we took our first trip to the Redwoods, and it changed my soul! Since then we have gone 2-3 times a year. It's an absolute peace within.
Breathtaking views of scenic ocean beaches and rugged coastline. The trees are magnificent and lovely farmlands.
Everything!!!!It's all ah inspiring!!!!!
It's kind of like asking why see the Grand Canyon or Niagra Falls. It's a natural marvel and unique from a global perspective. You don't need a particular interest in nature to appreciate the grandeur of the trees. I think most people would consider seeing it once to be well worth it. Strongly recommend you go.
Such an amazing place. It inspires you. The giant Red Woods can't even be explained, you just have to see them in person to really appreciate their beauty. Definitely check this forest out, it does not disappoint!!!
