Plenty of shade and benches to rest while walking. You can feed the giraffes, pet sting rays. There is a park and a splash pad in the zoo. Lacking in a few animals, but overall not bad

Wanted to kill some time before a flight so decided to visit the zoo and am glad I did. It was a warmer day and early afternoon so most of the animals weren't very active but fortunately most were relaxing close to the viewing areas so got to get a closer than normal view so I actually preferred it. There were multiple indoor exhibits that gave a break from the sun and a lot of areas to explore. The koi pond was relaxing and the music playing throughout the zoo was nice. The only drawback was not having paper maps (or even more fixed maps throughout the park, I missed the one by the entrance) but that was not a big deal as the zoo was easy to navigate. Overall, it was a great experience and highly recommend, especially for families as there is the 4d movie, animal feeding (including the giraffe, not sure if there were others), water park, and countless sights.
We went last week. (MAY 2022) Tickets have to be purchased completely online now. The attendant will scan them from your phone. Adult General admission is 25.95. Total Experience Ticket 32.95 - 35.95. Includes general admission, unlimited train rides, carousel rides, 4d theater, and animal feedings. Total experience is the way to go since attractions can't be bought separately.
ADA compliant parking spots are available with ramps to the main entrance to the Zoo. ... Manual wheelchairs and power chairs are available for rent within the Zoo at a first come, first serve basis. Due to the popularity of the rentals, there is no way to guarantee a chair will be available.
There WAS a nursing area near the play park. It was a little table with an umbrella shaded by trees down a small path out of view of most people. Suddenly on a visit about a month ago, the table and chairs were gone! I am not nursing any more but I am very upset about this. I would love an explanation.
Yes you can. I brought in my coffee, my husband's drink and some food and nobody complained. The drinks we held in our hands while the food was in our bag. We had no issues.
Regular admission includes stingrays bay and butterfly hollow when they're open. Adults are 19.95 and children ages 3-12 are 14.95, under 2 is free. For the wristbands with unlimited train rides, 4D movie, dinosauria, campground critters and carousel rides are 29.95 for adults and 22.95 for children. We went about 2 weeks ago and got the wristbands for 2 adults and 3 kids and I believe it was around $130 but we only go once a year so I felt like it was worth it. Food is pretty expensive at the restaurants.
13-64yr is $25, 3-13yr is $20, 65+ is $23 for general admission tickets. Total experience tickets are more. Due to COVID-19 you must purchase tickets online at the Zoos website to get in. There are no ticketing kiosks available at the gate.
No, the Jacksonville Zoo does not offer alligator encounters.
St. Augustine is a little South of Jacksonville and they boast the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. There are several different Alligator Encounter options there.
The train ride from the front of the park to the back you see a little more not much but a little more than what you see on the train ride from the back of the park to the front
There's plenty of places to sit. You can bring your own food. It's not your standard zoo. Your walking around greenery taking turn lefts and rights kinda got lost...feels like your part of the jungle. I wouldn't want to carry chairs around, but if it has wheels, go for it.
No. Roller skates, roller blades, skateboards, wheelies, and bicycles are not allowed. first of all the zoo is small enough to walk. and they do have a train
They do have a bird house (with all types of birds) you can walk thru and the birds may land on you. I did see chickens on the ground, but I do not know if they are exotic.
You'd be amazed at the tiny tot transportation allowed in the zoo. It's been years since I've bought or used a stroller, and oh boy did I get a lesson today! There were strollers, of all sorts, on parade today! If you take one to this zoo, you'd better be on your stroller game!
It's open now through July 7th. There's an extra fee, a few bucks, it you can get a wristband and get all of the extra stuff (4D ride, train, giraffes, dinos).
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens offers a 10% discount on regular General Admission tickets only (excludes the already discounted Value Ticket) with an Active Military ID or valid AAA Membership card. Proof of eligibility must be presented at the time of purchase. Discounts are not available online. Discounts cannot be combined with any other discount or offer.
Yes, there is two bathroom stations for them I think. There are areas in the zoo where they aren't allowed though, you will have to ask which areas those are.
The animal keepers contact info is not posted anywhere public. I would suggest calling the member service department at the zoo or emailing member services.
Starbucks at the entrance, snack/ice cream shop in land of the jaguar (restaurant there was not open a week ago), several snow cone stands, a small food shop in the back of the play/water park, and the Trout River sit down restaurant. The website will have menus and what is seasonally open or closed.
I think one of their pigs is out I tried calling and no one will answer the phone it was on the sidewalk on Heckscher Drive when we drove by did not move to act like it was tame
No everything is walking. However there is a train on the inside that takes you around certain parts of the park. It's not included in the general admission ticket. You would need the total experience ticket or buy train tickets separately
We bought tickets last week for zoo and spooktacular. We didnt make it in time for zoo and we were told they are good for 6 months from purchase. Called 800 number

Hello Alice,
Thank you for your feedback and we apologize for any inconvenience. For the safety of our guests, employees, and volunteers, we have restricted the option for refills. We do recognize that many will agree or disagree with this decision, yet we feel it is the right thing to do.
Our Splash Park and Dinosauria have been open for some time. The train, carousel, and 4D theater open just in time for Father's Day - June 21, 2020.
We hope you will return for a visit!
Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens
If you aren't getting a membership, paying the few dollars more for the total experience is well worth it. The membership is really the way to go though. Our four-year-old is turning into a little naturalist and is learning the names of all of the animals. She also absolutely adores the playground and splash pad. If you save your souvenir cups the refills are a dollar and they are perfectly fine with you bringing in a cooler of snacks or lunch too.
As of right now, no. There is no date set for the 25th annual Exzooberation. Judging from previous dates though, it will most likely be somewhere between April 5-9th.
Is there a train or cart ride at the zoo to give people an overall tour of what there is to see. Are there any "shows" such as fish/animal feedings, snake demonstrations, etc. If so, what and...when?
Alison Knowles | Sep 22, 2020
Tina P | Sep 22, 2020
There is a train that circles the zoo. They show off the different lands/exhibits. There are keeper talks, sting ray bay, and various seasonal events. Jacksonvillezoo.org has a schedule posted under plan your visit.
General admission is 20 for adults, 15 for kids above 3 and free for kids under 3. Carousel, train and 4D theatre is not included in general admission tickets, but you can buy them separately once you are inside
You can bring water bottles but no outside food and no coolers. There's a picnic area inside the park at the back of the parking lot, before you go into the zoo. You could bring cooler with food and have picnic there. Check the website rules, http://www.jacksonvillezoo.org/content.aspx?pageID=15994&CNM=Park Rules
No it isn't. Petting sting ray, butterfly garden that's included now. It wasn't last year. But you still have to pay for the train and carousel and 4d theater. And feeding giraffe. You can get an all excess band and that includes unlimited train and everything else. I cant remember the price I'm sorry. Hope this helped

We have a family membership (mom, dad, 5 kids). Is there any discount on guest tickets?

Why are strollers allowed on the train before people in wheelchairs. They stopped my son who has been in a wheelchair since birth, at the gate and let 2 women with baby strollers in the handicap car. Very frustrating.
Sherry Bowers | Sep 23, 2019
Kimberly Cochran | Sep 23, 2019
Idk, that doesn't sound right, they are usually very accommodating
Weve had our zoo membership for about 10 years and we have never had our picture taken. We have The family membership plus two extra guests. We've never had our pictures taken . We just show our ID with our Zoo membership card upon entry.
I believe the zoo is still raising funds through the brick sales, not sure on prices...i am definitely planning on purchasing one, in the near future,we just spent a wonderful day at the zoo with my daughter and niece...
There are several special pricing days (4 dollar day) it's best to keep up with them on Facebook or their other social medias so you know what's upcoming
Military members (with ID) get a membership discount. I do not know if you would get a single day entry discount, but it seems likely. If you can visit just twice in a year, the membership pays for itself.
Short ones and fat ones and tall ones and skinny ones and tiny ones that won't shut up and make weird noises much like the big ones.... And that's just the people
I just went sat.,2-16 had a blast, there was a b-party there lm sure they paid a small fee to have their own area. Everthing out there has a fee, it takes a lot to operate the zoo. Help support
Yes they do have reusable cups. The price is around $2.00. The cost is cheaper with Zoo membership. Which pays for itself if you go more than 5-6 times a year.

As a AAA member and state of Florida employee does that make me eligible for two discounts on the Family Membership?
Michael O | Sep 23, 2019
L M | Sep 23, 2019
AAA gives you a discount on general admission not the membership. Only the City of Jacksonville Employee Discount would be valid for the membership. I believe it's 10%
Admission tickets just get into the zoo, the band gets you into different shows or exhibits and the train that goes around the entire zoo. This is a must to ride when you have walked 6'000 steps and still have move to see.
To add to Brian's answer, you can call the zoo at 757-4463 ext. 200. They will be more than happy to answer your question. We hope that you will come to our Christmas lights. It starts dec. 7th. ends Jan. 5th. To get more info. Just ask the receptionist when you call. Thank you very much for wanting to visit our zoo. Happy Thanksgiving.

How long it takes to explore the whole zoo? It is a good idea to get there early?
José Rafael Caldera | Sep 23, 2018
Bethany Adams | Sep 23, 2018
You explore the zoo at your own personal pace so it could take anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours just depending on how long you choose to linger in each exhibit. And yes it's always a good idea to get there early the animals are more active in the morning right after coming out of their night houses compared to later in the afternoon when it warms up and they've had lunch.
Can you bring your own food into the zoo or do you have to leave it in your car
Michele Adkins | Sep 23, 2018
Mark Beshel | Sep 23, 2018
You can bring in your own food, but please don't feed the animals with it.
Is the Great Ape exhibit open? News says so but there are postings that say it is not open...
Teena Strickland The Strickland Group | Sep 23, 2018
Two 70 yr olds and a great granddaughter did a lot in 5 hrs, but did not hit absolutely everything. But we did stop to feed the giraffs. Alao, you are aloud ti take in your own food and drink, which will save you if u have mult children!

It depends on which options you want. You can get general admission for one year for one person starting around $50. There are discounts for military and you can get family passes for single adult plus kids, two adults and household kids and you can also choose add an unnamed guest to your membership.
I just took my little girl this past weekend and we had a really really good time and went thru the Dinosaur exhibit also! 😁 The tickets for adults are $19.95ea and kids (3-12) is $14.95 ea...Under 3 is free. If you live here though... The Yearly Membership is definitely the way to go...So much cheaper if you end up going alot.
Also, if you go to their website you can buy the regular tickets or buy the"Total Experience" tickets for adults/kids which includes all of the "pay" attractions that are there for one price and that's a deal too considering how much they are buying them individually at the gate.
OH & Just an FYI... If you don't do the Night Zoo tour then the BEST TIME TO GO is right when they open~9am~in the morning (what we always do) because there isn't alot of people, it's cooler, they are just letting the animals out and feeding them so the animals usually are alot more active.
LOL I'm really sorry this was so long. 😉
$25 a head on Mother's Day Mother's get in free on Father's Day Father's get in free with a full paid admission I think there's a special discounts for elderly and children maybe give them a call
Total Experience
Adults 29.95 Ages (13-64)
Seniors 27.95 Ages ( 65+)
Children 22.95 Ages ( 3-12)
This is for General admission and unlimited Train, carousel and 4D theaters. Otherwise you pay extra. I believe 14.95 each with general admission price.
20 for just admission 18+, 30 for unlimited. Not sure for kids. I recommend the unlimited because you get to experience the critter show which is super cute, the dinosaur event, petting stingrays, etc.
It's $19.95 adult, $17.95 senior 65+, $14.95 child 3-12 years for general admission (includes stingray bay and butterfly hollow) and $29.95 adults, $27.95 seniors 65+ and $22.95 child 3-12 years for total experience tickets (includes dinosauria, campground critters, 4D theater and unlimited train and carousel rides).
Senior $17.95 Reg 19.95 and the train is $4.00. The dinosaurs were about $5 I think. There are pass programs that bundle some items for cheaper. Have fun!
Unfortunately rain does not close down the park. Take an umbrella or wear a raincoat. It is still nice to see the animals as they tend to like the rain. We were there yesterday. It rain off and on but it was still nice. Be mindful of you have a stroller you will have to park it outside to view some of the exhibits.
I always like to recommend Airbnbs, cheaper and more homey of a feel vs the hotel. If you're committed to a hotel, the Holiday Inn is relatively close to the zoo and I've always had decent experiences while staying there!
Yes if you are going to go at different times of year like the dinosaurs we get to go on year pass the first week at no x- tra charge. We have kids so very worth the price 🐯🐵🐉
These questions don't go to employees of the place you're looking up. Google doesn't employ everyone on earth yet. It took longer to ask that here then to do a Google search for the answers would have.
Yes my mother was in one and she had to sit in the front of the train there was only seats for 2 people with her but she could even ride the carousel....
If the weather was too cold for some animals, they would be kept inside. Sometimes warming lamps can be set up in some of the enclosures to keep them warm. I always enjoy the zoo in the cooler and even cold months.
Not sure for two students it only costed 20$. So if you show you have proof of students then jt shouldnt be relatively cheap and that was just for one day.
Hi, Well personally i don't think babies could figure out things there and enjoy much. However they might like to see/observe few animals such as fishes, birds, monkeys etc. Now as its holiday season, if u checkout the website, there are some light shows after 6pm, which babies might like.
I'm not exactly sure about that I do know that it is $17.95 per adult and for the month of November kids are free we have the membership because we go all the time
There's a few different places with pizza, hotdog and hamburgers, french fries, etc. There's shaved ice stands also. You get a discount if you are a member
Hey! How much per adult on the weekends please?
God bless!

Do you have a dock if we want to come by boat? If you do have a dock, what size boat can your dock accommodate ? The Jacksonville Zoo is so beautiful ! Thank you in advance for your response to my question.

Yes there is a dock not sure on size boat but it is a large dock
