Great family activity. We went for the feeding time. Nice people working hard for these cats. You get a lot closer than at the zoo so it's a great experience.

Good morning, I’d like to know if all the tours are walking or is there a trolley for the elderly.

Cheryl Hagens | Sep 22, 2021
Kurt Lessenthien | Sep 22, 2021

There is a cart available for those who cannot make the walk. Ask for it when you arrive. Tours are self-paced and there are benches throughout, so walking slowly and taking breaks is also an option.

How much walking is involved? Would I be able to use my walker?

The Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary | Sep 23, 2018

The tour is about a half mile at a slow pace. There are benches throughout the sanctuary so you can stop and rest as you need. Many people have no problem getting around with a walker. If it is too much for you, however, you just need to let one of the volunteers know and we will drive you around on a cart to make sure you see everything. I hope that answers your question and that you will come see us soon.

More information can also be seen on the website if you click on the Partner tab and select Volunteer.

I couldn't find any accreditation on the website. Is the sanctuaty GFAS accredited or anything?

Scott Halfhill | Sep 23, 2019
Kurt Lessenthien | Sep 23, 2019

Catty Shack Ranch is not currently GFAS accredited, but has taken steps toward that goal. They are also a top-rated nonprofit by Great Nonprofits, they achieved a 2019 Platinum Seal of Transparency on GuideStar, and they are in the Trip Advisor Hall of Fame for being rated so highly for 5 consecutive years. Most importantly, visitors come out and see how well-cared for all the animals are, the bond between animals and volunteers, and the plans for future growth. If you have any other questions, you can email me, the adoption coordinator, and my information is available on the Contact page of the Catty Shack Ranch website. Thank you for your inquiry, and I hope you get the opportunity to visit.

The Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary is a volunteer driven organization. Though we have added a small number of paid staff over the past couple years - a sign of our success and growth - we rely on volunteers to be able to operate effectively. The best way to get started helping at the sanctuary is to volunteer, and the information and application are on our website under the Partner tab. We hope you submit an application and start volunteering with us!

It is a sanctuary for big cats that needed a home, and they are open only on certain days each week. Check the website for the most updated information, but generally they are open on Thursday afternoons and Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. Afternoon visits include a guided walking tour and costs $10 for anyone 12 and older, $5 for kids 3-11 (2 and younger are free). Evening visits include the guided tour followed by the opportunity to watch the animals eat dinner, mostly chicken, and all processed like you see in the store. Cost for the feeding is $15 for anyone 12 and up, $10 for kids 3-11, and free for 2 and younger. Animals are more active at feeding time so that tends to be more popular. Check out the website and their Facebook page for more information, but definitely worth visiting.

Hours are the same but at 2:00 PM we give out some sort of treat or different item to the cats. The next Sunday we are open is December 9, and we are giving out Christmas presents to the cats. For the remainder of this month the price of admission for afternoon tours is $10 for adults and each regular admission paying adult can bring in up to 5 kids for free. In December we return to our normal pricing of $5 for kids age 3-11. You can buy tickets online through our website or pay when you show up. If, however, it proves to be too difficult for you to push her around, we can drive her (and others from your group as space allows) on one of our electric carts. Just let us know if you need the cart and we will be happy to provide it. We hope to see you soon!
