Peaceful and relaxing place to stay. There is a bit of road noise if you are on the inland side, but not too bad. Try to reserve an ocean front site if possible. The offseason times are the easiest to get sites and midweek.
Andy Fornadel
We camped here in April of 2022. I havent thought to camp so close to home in San Diego, but it was loads of fun! Would camp here again! Big wide camp sites, clean, well lit bathrooms available everywhere and a fun camp store with live bands! What more could you ask for right by the beach!
Rick Sego
You can't ask for a better beach side experience than to be at this park. The camp hosts are brilliant, the sunsets are to die for, and the camp store is friendly and has most of what you need. Not to mention the smell of the salty sea and the sound of the crashing waves. So relaxing!
Danny Briggs
We had a wonderful time. We had an inland site but still had a view 50' across from us. Try to book a site with hook-ups on the ocean side. If you are dry camping there is a sewer dump site inside the park. Restaurants, shopping and the Carlsbad Premium outlets are very close. However, if you don't want to leave there is a store, restaurant and live music! The ocean waves were loud enough that I really didn't notice any road noise on the inland side. There are bathrooms, showers, barbecue pits and water hose bibs interspersed between the campsites. Be sure to check out the Cinni Minis and the taco stand at the Carlsbad Outlets. Both were Amazing! The views are spectacular and you can walk down to the sand. Note: When people leave reviews I always wonder what is their experience, type of camping, etc 10 trips CA, AZ NV, UT, CO 39 days 24' Pleasue Way Pursuit 2 dogs Husband & wife Beginners Prior: OR, WA, ID, IL, MT, ND, NE. Yes. They have designated camp grounds with available parking, for a price.
Sure can. Extra vehicles are a separate fee per night. You can park for free on the street on the streets inland that run parallel to the 101, but you have to walk and its a little bit of a hike. Also the park limits spaces to 8 occupants just fyi.
Yes, cheaper than motel 6 Bathrooms and showers available too
During Thanksgiving week, the fees were $35 street side, $50 for ocean side, $75 street side with hook up and $100 ocean side with hook up
As long as you can get in there and get it home you can take it there
I used to live across coast hwy at Lanaki Mobile Home Park and I used to take my dog for walks all the time very dog friendly!!!
You are able to walk up and pay for the campsite the day of. These campsites are on a first come first serve basis.
Check out comfycamps.com. They can deliver and set up fully equipped campsites anywhere in San Diego. No fuss no muss
yes and you need Tokens 50 cents for 2 minutes RV and tent camping Must used state of California tokens that's for any one of the park's up-and-down the coast
pretty long stairqays to beach a little less on the southern stairways
Great question. When you get down to this southern end, the site tend to get pretty narrow. On the reserve California website you can actually click the campsite you're interested in and it will give you the length. I looked it up and site 165 is 23 ft deep when I was there last week, some people just parked their bigger trailer diagonal to make it fit.
Not really. People do bike through sometimes. And the walk up and down the stairs can feel like you went in a hike. I walk from one end to the other and its nice if it isn't hot out.
Yes within 3-5 miles
Limited sites have full hookups.
Yes, but not on the beach
Parking is for campers only, guests can park too, for a limited day stay, not overnight
On a leash only and only in campground. Not allowed on the beach
Dogs must be on a leash at all times. Dogs are NOT allowed on beach at any time.
Yes. If they pay they can visit.
No locks on the entrance.enter at anytime, pay in the morning
Been trying to call you wouldn’t happen to have number would anyone thank you
I'm not familiar with cable hookups there. If you have a wireless hotspot you may have enough bandwidth to stream. I would suggest saving something to watch if you are do inclined. It's SO beautiful there.
There is coin machines down the street from the campgrounds other than that it's $80 a night
The kiosk opens at 8am.
Probably not. We always have to reserve 6 months in advance
We didn't camp, but they charge per day and the charge is different for cats or Rvs
Yes. You can dry camp at just about all of the sites with that size trailer.
The premium campsites are the quietest, and oceanfront. Fortunately most of the campsites at South Carlsbad are far enough from the road and are fairly quiet
Not unless you have a reserved spot. But then again South Carlsbad has there own Rules as to who can use th facilities.
That's part of the fun. Next time , pay 10 dollars more for, sunshine..... tourist
Beach sites are 50, inland sites are 35, if you are a senior you get 2 dollars off a day, as far as I know there isn't a state pass.
I believe for full hookups, $100 per night. You can find full pricing and make reservations at ReserveCalifornia.com
You definitely can!
No hookup site was $50.00 a night.
They do have handicap spots. They only have like five or six of them. They're all right beside the bathrooms and showers. Oliver on the back side except one is on the Oceanside.
No, you can park your RV by the beach from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm on certain stretches of the highway in Carlsbad. This is free, but you cannot spend the night. South Carlsbad State Beach is hard to get into, you have to book online way in advance, might be able to get a day or two during the week if available. They're are two RV campgrounds in Oceanside, $75 to $110 a night.
Yes
I didn't see any signs that said parking ended. I'm sure they have RV parking at some area. I parked in the lot for free because I have disabled plates
It varies also by ocean side or shore side. Usually when we go shore side is 35 a night and ocean side is 50.
Yes, all sites have large picnic tables that can be moved to your liking. All restrooms and facilities were open as of our visit last week. The only thing we found closed is the small laundromat attached to the campstore
Yes they have bathrooms. We did our reservations online and they do go quickly
No
Call and ask, I've seen bigger rigs pulled in at a 45° angle.
In the campground area I've seen people on motorized bikes. There is a street that runs in between the ocean side campsites and the backside campsite where visitors drive their cars/trucks/RVs etc to and from their campsite. So I dont see why that would be a problem, as long as it's done so responsibly.
each token costs 50 cents and gives 2-3 min. so you can add as many tokens as you like
You can access Wi-Fi if you're within 150 feet of the campground office
You can reserve a campsite.
No. You choose on your spot where to picnic that you stay at.
Yes you camp overnight. Yes there are firepits
I would make a reservation for a spot to ensure you have one, as this is a popular place to camp and it is indeed a seasonal awareness adventure..
$30 to $50 bucks depending on whether you're in an RV or a non RV
It's 15$ dollars to use so might as well dump while you are there
You can cancel at any time for any reason you up to the day before you have reserved. You get back all but $8 of what you paid.
Inside is $35 a night and its $50 a night on the bluff
I don't know, you would have to go to their website.
The office closes at sunset and they lock the gates you can walk-in. But you can still drive in at any time.
Some campsites are larger than others but I have seen pretty large ones.
They open at 9 but we were there at 6 waiting, bring a fold up chair
Usually after 1 p.m.
Kathy you will be fine.. To get into South Carlsbad state beach with vehicle you will need a campsite reservation....
Buy tokens when you first drive in otherwise you're walking down to the check in kiosk when you need them. That's only downside is the walk from the campsite but other than that they are clean showers and accessible. 1dollar per 4 minutes which is plenty of time :)
Right when it open. Sometimes there cancellation
There are different size sites. But I have seen a RV with 2 -3 tents also on there site
No fires on beach. Only in fire rings provided in camp sites.
I believe the fee is 10$
Usually, sometimes you can find a spot or two for weekdays. But for the most part 6 months out is the rule, not the exception.
At the campsite San Diego passed a law saying it was ok 2/2019. Call to verify that
Rex good luck on finding a spot. Normally the spots are reserved months in advance
We go all the time but they don't offer rentals there. 😊
One day is 12:00 noon 12:00 noon
Generally pretty good. I was the last month and had no issues.
I believe max stay is 7 days. When we last stayed it was 35 bucks a night.
It's not the best choice on the coast. Very crowded up against the cliff with a thin road running down the middle. I went a couple of weeks ago with a small 5th wheel. Any other beachfront along the coast is better than this one.
Id check the California State park reservation online sight
It's best that you call them. My visit was for a kiddy party
Yes, it fills up quickly. The sooner the better.
Sometimes, a spot or two may be available the day of, but you must be there first thing in the morning. Otherwise it is necessary to prebook a spot, which would include paying for said spot.
From about $35 on the land side to about $60 on the ocean side. Parking for cars is an additional $15, with a maximum of 3 csrs.
We have 1 group site, Pelican Point. It can accommodate up to 40 people and 10 vehicles.
Not sure precisely, but each one can fit 2 cars and 3 small backpacking tents with the table and fire pit
Check the website for the current rates. I've had different rates at different times of the year
No path. But campground street is full of bikes and scooters and it is paged
Yes but you need reservation 6 months in advance. There are a few hook-ups but mostly non hook-ups. Try to get a beach side site if possible. Good luck!
Yes, they run around $100 / day 6 months ahead for reservations
Yes
January or six months to the day.
Yes. They are located at same place you dump. Make sure you get the drinking water and not the non potable water. They are marked. I hope this helps.
No. Only in the premium sites. Many sources not too far away though.
I am not sure, I know they don't check ID or anything. If you just give them the name of the person who did the reservation you probably should be fine.
Yes, online, two days ahead at least or first come first serve the day of. They fill up fast but just watch for cancellations.
Highlander is correct.
They have a limited number of hookup sites, around 10ish. They sell very fast with availability for any good amount of time to visit is many months in advance. I believe the best way to get one of the hook up sites would be to wake early to get what may be available in the 6 month advance reservation availability.
I personally just attempted to reserve multiple days with a full hookup site. Only a single night available for $125 for that one night in Sept. (It's late June now)
They do in the campsites, but not on the actual beach.
About 40 of the 100 plus sites have electric hookups.. You can see when you book a site from their map which ones do... CHĘĘRS ~ ĘNJÖY
There are several sites that would acomadate you but the size limit is 35 feet
There is plenty of free parking along the Pacific coast highway north of the campground. No tables, so bring your own. You could park by the sea wall near the Lagoon and sit on top of the sea wall that's pretty nice. You could park by the big Power Plant and sit on top of the cliffs. You could park just south of El Cerezo, or there is more free parking in a parking lot just north of the campground on the PCH. Hope this helps. Have a great day.
You have book a site on the Reserve America website. Approx. $43-$57 depending on location.
The limit is 36 feet but some spaces are larger. I seen a 43 footer parked down the road from me
There are no rentals for motorized craft of any kind. The camp store rents surfboards and boogie boards. The second vehicle fee is $15 if memory serves me correctly
Depends on individual site. If you get a narrow site and have to reverse straight in it will not fit, 35' is the maximum length. Some sites are wide enough to accept a longer unit.
You should book in advance on Reserve America site. If you just show up, there are no guarantees.
Not sure but call
No dogs on beach anywhere close. Check San Elijo campground dogs allowed on beach seasonally on leash. Del Mar dog beach closest off-leash dog beach. Update- Del Mar dog beach no longer allows off-leash. Thanks irresponsible dog owners.
35 ft limit
$35-$50+ Token operated showers. Book ahead of time on Reserve America site.
South Carlsbad doesn't have what you would be calling day-use for RV it doesn't work like that here so you would have to make a reservation and get a camp spot and if you wanted to hook up spot they only have limited spots but they do have double hook up here
They do have some sites with full hookups. You have to reserve in advance, up to six months before those spaces go really fast
No, it's your beach 24/7!
It's a long stretch of beach with many access points I doubt that they would be able to kick you off of it officially
Yes. There is a senior discount along with disabled person discount.
Yes you can have two trailers to RVs I believe trailers you're going to be able to that you have to tell them both in and then one of the vehicles have to leave 3 registered vehicles per site
The rate is by the campsite not the camping equipment. It's either $50 on the ocean side or $35 on the Inland side regardless of what you are camping in. There are also hookup sites which run $100 on the ocean side and $65 on the Inland side again regardless of what you're camping in.
The website says 7 day maximum...must leave 48 hours before second stay.
Yes, Alot of Rangers around & Awesome !! Ranger Assistance Was Top Notch !
The prices have escalated regular site w/o any hookups is now $60 per nite. Sites are usually booked up 4 months in advance with little chance of getting a cancellation spot. This location has 212 sites with 16 sites with electric and water. Dump station is $10.
They have a seasonal shop at the campground. It has everything a grocery store would have even souvenir items. About a mile up the road by the freeway there is a starbucks, Vons, Chase bank and burgerking.
I don't believe they offer "full hook ups". There are a few with electric and there is a dump station there.
50 beachside, 35 not beachside. Usually need reservations. They have bathrooms and showers. Tents okay too.
All reservations are handled through Reserve California (previously through Reserve America) and should be made well im advance. You will not likely get through to anyone at the campground. If it is for the day of, you can go straight to the camp kiosk in the morning and request am available site. Yes the sites have a nightly fee.
Yes you can put up tents. Rvs are also welcome.
Yes there is tent spots in the Camp Ground. The area for tents is on the bluff overlooking the ocean.
No. The maximum stay is seven nights per reservation. Reservations are generally needed six to twelve months in advance.
I've had 12 guest before I believe that there's is a maximum of 3 vehicles per camp site
