So thankful for this place! Went 3 times within a week to look at cats and finally left with one who had been there all 3 times. The volunteers are really helpful and surprisingly knowledgeable about the individual cats even though the turnover rate is really high for some. They offer a free first vet visit to two partner vets after adoption.

We love the SPCA because they have such a variety of all types of animals. Unlike pet stores you are allowed to play with them and can take the dogs outside to a fenced area to see if they are a good fit for your family. We were just there over the weekend and they had 3 black labs, a German shepherd and even a great dane/husky mix with one blue and one brown eye. They are sure to have a dog that you will fall in love with. Problem is choosing only one

Got my new best friend. They were so helpful. Gave me info over the phone and let me bring my old best friend to meet the new one before we decided. Where else can you get a happy healthy puppy that has all its shots and is fixed for only a hundred dollars. Plus I got a bag of food too!! Leia loves her new friend!

Staff was knowledgeable and friendly and you can tell they take good care of the cats (we only looked at cats) the front desk actually started our adoption after the time they usually stop, which was awesome since we drove and hour to get there!! We came home with our cute kitty Princess Pretty 😻

Yes. They take birds. I adopted a conure parrot from them a year ago. If you still have the finches i will take them. That is horrible that someone would throw any living thing in the trash. Sick people.
Good afternoon, we're sorry to hear you were having trouble getting a hold of us. We are still struggling to fix some phone system malfunctions resulting from a lightening strike to our phone system. Our staff are also away from their desks a lot caring for the animals and assisting the public but we try to return phone calls as we get them.
You’re more likely to come in if they only put a few up so you can find the perfect new bestie... And more likely to adopt if you come in...
It is a no-kill in the sense that they will not put an animal down because they are out of space. However, it is different from a no-kill shelter because we take animals that a no-kill shelter will not. For example, if you have a pet that's terminally ill or has bitten someone a no-kill shelter will not take that animal. We will. The only times animals get put down is if they are extremely sick and our vet staff has done everything possible for the animal and it hasn't worked and they are suffering or if an animal is behaviorally unsafe to the community and can not be broken of that behavior.
Is there an emergency vet. At ur location?
Simple! They need more volunteers in the office. Give back to your pet community by spending time with these wonderful forgiving and loving animals that put up with so much and still have so much will to give back. (dogs love jobs, so do a lot of other pet types)
Yes they do. There's a clinic that runs twice a year and depending on the shots needed it will run from $8-$250
I saw on Pet finder a conure parrot was rescued at the spca. I called so many times by phone, leaving voicemails, and no one ever returned my call, so i assumed he was adopted. Petfinder emailed me if i had taken the bird and i emailed them back saying i never got a response back. They Said if it is still listed on their site it is still available. So i drove over to the spca. Sure enough...he was still there! I adopted him after five cage visits and i can truly say these kids and volunteers are trying their best. I think they feel, what I now feel, you need to go a meet the animals. What can they possibly do to help an animal by answering a phone or inquiry? A pet is a life long commitment, so take 10 mins to find the right one. Go in and ask whatever you need to know. They are walking, feeding, and cleaning strays...not sitting by the phone. Ps. Love my Captain No Pants Conure!!

SPCA isn't a no kill. They are an all excepting. No matter what the animal, size, or age they will accept it. The only time they euthanize is if the animal is unable to be put on the adoption floor for example, if the animal deathly ill or if the animal is aggressive and unable to be worked with by Behavior. They don't take euthanasia with a grain of salt. It's a big deal and they do their best to prevent it from happening.
Yes, as long as a foster is open, or a fixed month to month agreement with the shelter can be made.
SPCA is wonderful. They would not let your cat suffer. They are very prompt in every situation. They are just so busy all the time, that they just can't call right away. Be patient and they will call you soon. They are a very loving and caring institute. I'm so sorry 💔 that you had to have your precious fur baby put down. Just remember, she is suffering no more. She is at the Rainbow Bridge with my fur babies that have passed. And so many, many more. They have a new body now and they are free of pain. RIP precious Kitty! God bless you and 🙏 your family at this sad time. 🙌❤️
SPCA hospital is in St. Pete and they will definitely help you!
Hello! They list the adoption fee on their website. It's usually between $80 for younger cats and $35 for older cats. Please consider senior cats, they also need love!
Yes, I go there frequently and walk through and see the animals.
I was there mid- September and don't remember seeing any Dobermans at least not then. You can go to their website and list details of what it is you're interested in... Breed, age, sex and etc. They are great about keeping you up to date with available matches.
Parking isn't far.and they have much compassion for animals. Can't imagine why they would not allow to spend your last moments with your pet
I think animal services on starkey does. I didn't see reptiles at this location.
If you have exhausted all your options to find them a new home, Example: asking friends, family, co-workers & maybe even posting on Facebook. Then the SPCA will accept them. The reason I am saying about other options before taking them to the SPCA is, if your attached to them, then if someone you know is willing to take them, maybe you could visit or still see them, plus you would know they are in a safe & loving home.
Yes I believe they would take them. They do have hamsters guinea pigs coming in every once in awhile and I'm sure that would be very nice to have so they can give them something to do.
What breed & how old is the puppy? Depending on the breed, even if it is a mixed breed, I may like to adopt her. Please let me know. I adopted a dog from the SPCA on 130th Ave., in Largo, last November. She is a German Shepard/Golden Retriever mix & she just turned 2 yrs old. I own my home, I have a huge back yard & I am home all day. Please txt me. Since I have not heard back, I am removing my cell number. I'm sure the SPCA doesn't charge much.
They do ask for a surrender fee, the fee is noted on their website.
Go to SPCATAMPABAY.NET',GET THE SHELTER'S PHONE NUMBER FOR SURRENDERING PETS AND CALL THEM FOR AN APPT. TO BRING THE KITTENS IN. THEY WON'T LET YOU SURRENDER THEM UNLESS YOU'VE HAD THEM AT LEAST 10 DAYS THOUGH. STRAYS WHO WERE JUST FOUND HAVE TO GO TO ANIMAL SERVICES. GOOD LUCK. WE DON'T TIME THEM OUT AT SPCA. UNLIKE PCAS. THEY WOULD BE SAFE AND GET ADOPTED THERE.
Great question Angela. It really depends on the animal. Our staff will take puppies through the foster process. Sometimes that can take weeks. All animals are seen by our medical and behavior team. Depending on their care it can be a few days or longer. Please call us and talk to our Intake department at 727-586-3591 ext 166.
Yes. They do
The funds are to support the rescue and to pay for the veterinarian care and the housing and the building etc etc etc
Your best bet would probably be to contact them for the information and they would be able to answer that question
I know they do lots of surgeries on Monday. Like spaying and neutering.
Googling the name will also bring up I believe a web page or at least something that has your phone number on it and call them and I think that'll be faster
Call them and they may have direct # for the chip company.. Or can update it in their system. Or if you still have the paperwork that came with your kitty the # may be in there. Also, your vet may also be able to help with the #, maker, & contact info for the chip. Hope this helps 😊
Yes.they take sheets, blankets, towels, food, some toys.
Every animal for adoption on their website has an adoption rate listed on the information page about that particular animal.
Call the office. They can give you copies
https://spcatampabay.org/surrender-an-animal/
I believe it's only by reservation to visit. Check out the website see if that's more current and helpful.
Their fees vary and help cover all the vetting and care. They range widely, but if you look at available dogs on their website, the adoption fees for each are listed.
Do you ever get Peacocks in your shelter for adoption.
Yes you can foster. Call the local shelters and they can get you started.
You need to call and speak to someone. They won't see your post I don't think. Good luck
They do everything possible to find homes for these little children
SPCA of Tampa Bay in Largo is definitely the best place to go. Watch the website. The pics are always up to date. If you see a pic, that pup is there and available. They take excellent care of the animals. and most importantly, they don't lie about what you're getting. That's been my worst experience with shelters and it happens all the time. I've never had a problem or been disappointed with any of the pets I've adopted from there. It's so good, I don't even mind the hour and a half drive each way !
Not sure at this location but they do have a vet clinic in St Pete
I agree you should go there to see what they have because adoptions happen often and I also recommend if you have any other pets bring them to see if they are compatible. Adoption is a serious commitment involving all family members. The SPCA wants to ensure that they are placing the adoption to the right situations. Remember many of these precious animals may have been through some traumatic events and all they need is TLC and some time to adjust to their new home. The SPCA also provides as much history, health records and their own observations of the pets behavior while at the kennel.
They won't tell you when it's ready.
The SPCA in Clearwater off of 49th Street is open 7 days a week. Even if the main shelter is closed they have an office in the back that is open. Not 24/7 but they are open all week. We had to take our dog there on Easter Sunday and they were open. He passed on but they also except animals for drop off also.
Sorry, you would have to call them and ask. I am sure that prices vary somewhat.
I would like often so they can find a forever home.
Yes they are very busy
I'd call
They can always use that kinda stuff
Yes, they will take Guinea pigs. Make sure to bring anything you have for them so they can be comfortable with familiar things!
Yes you can. Please bring him in a carrier. I'm not entirely sure if there will be any paperwork to sign since he is a cat you own, i've only ever turned over strays. I do know that there is a building dedicated specifically to animal surrenders though. Also, SPCA appreciates any donations of food, toys, and bedding, so if you can, donate some supplies to the shelter to help your baby and other furry companions stay happy and healthy.
Its 50$ for a kitten and I bit cheaper for an adult cat. We just got our kitten here.
I think its 50 for a kitten. I thought that's what I paid for my little dude. I cant remember either way it's totally worth it. Go give that animal a special furever home!
You could try the humane society of Pinellas, they are a no kill shelter
I'm going to say, too young! They do love volunteers but you need to be at least 18. A 9 yr old can't protect himself or the animal.
Yes they take kitties
They have all differenttypes..sometimes Pomeranians...just call amd ask....
Dont no
I think Andrew's answer is the best one.
I wouldn't hesitate and take him to the vet asap
They state that they are not a no killer shelters.. you can Google & find several no kill shelters.
I do not know call them and tell them what happened before you get there to see what they say. There are at least 2 or 3 places to call in Pinellas County.
Aspca was the cheapest I found...unless you are low income...SPOT, ASPCA will work with you...actually its SPCA of Tampa Bay
1 year license is 20.00....or 3 year is 40.00
It depends on the age really. You can go to the spca website adoption page and it will give a description.
Just show up when they're open. Take ID. https://www.pspca.org/adoption-process
Sometimes they do but it is best to call them in check 1st .
Not sure. I would go on google and it will tell you of any in the area or close by. Then you have to apply normally for any rescues.
Proof you have a roof over your head. And can take care of the animal you are wanting. If renting a apartment they will want to talk to management to make sure your aloud to have a pet.....
SPCA or animal control are the cheapest if you have food stamps or Medicaid you get a discount
He needs to see a vet he probably has worms
Call cops they will know who to contact
Is she still available?
The price range for a puppy can be a little high. Around $200. If you get an older dog its $75. .Well worth the money.. All shots done, sprayed or neutered and any other problems taken care of. Flea control applied also. If you decide to get an older dog then you get perks. Like bathing coupons for free wash and clip and ears cleaned. Also I think 3 times of free boarding if you go on vacation.. Also a check up at the vet for free after adoption.
If you don't have money for getting them fixed, realize that ongoing vet bills & food gets expensive. Kittens will need a series of imunizations also. You may to Google a no kill shelter to take them to..maybe keep one if your finances allow it.
Google it. Hopefully that will give you the answer your looking for
No inside park
SPCA gives all shots and microchips and is lowest adoption cost. Wherever you get your puppy or kitty, those things should be included. Be wary of agency that doesn't. Also need a Health certificate.
If you are looking for a pitbull mix, there are alot at the Pinellas County Humane Society on Ulmerton Rd, just before the road turns into Walsingham. Yes there is an adoption fee. You can Google it and look at some of the pitbull mixes they have. Hope this helps you find your new pitbull.
For the love of all animals do not bring ANY animal that is bottle fed here, they tell you they’re a “no kill” shelter but if they’re bottle fed the second you walk out that door they put all bottle fed babies to sleep. For kittens please go to 9 lives kitten rescue.
YES! You are welcome anytime they're open.
Sun Coast Animal Rescue your deal they may pick up Th e close at 5
Ok
They have many different kinds of pets check their website for specifics but yes they do generally have puppies or dogs.
You can call A nimal Control, they will pick up the cat & her kittens. They work with the SPCA & the animal shelter's. The mother cat will be spaded & put up for adoption as a barn cat since she is feral. The kittens will also be spaded when weened off the mother & old enough to be adopted. If you have any other questions, just let me know. I'm happy to help.
I think they take them at the 130th Ave SPCA, as they have a special area for birds.
I just want a good home t for him, he looks like he has been through alot!previous owners abundant the poor fellow😕
At times. But before they are ready for adoption they must be spayed or neutered, given shots, and get their pet id inserted. Talked to them about what you are looking for and they will call when they become available.
Only at clinic in saint petersburg
I live in Tampa and adopted from Largo no problem!
Pet Resource on N Falkenburg in Tampa. Is also a good place to go. Got my Pit bull for $10. Just depends on specials they my have. They had many cats/kittens
Pretty sure SPCA takes ferrets. They had two before getting adopted. Give SPCA a call.
Call animal control or Sheriffs office.
If there your kittens and you want to surrender them you would need to take them to animal services
The SPCA was very compassionate and helped me even though they were closing when my yorkie was at the end.
Usually, yes; the SPCA will take them. If you do surrender them, please do so in person so the shelter can collect any information.
I think you're talking about pinellas county animal services!!! Spca doesn't take strays or do stray holds, I hope they help out your friend at PCAS
You need to contact them directly but they are closed until further notice
The SPCA veterinarians are at the location in St Petersburg. Prices will vary depending on procedures. They've been very good about letting us know the cost before doing anything with our dog and their prices are comparable or lower than other vets in this area. Just give them a call for more specific info.
I know someone who has Pedigree dog food for a small dog. Will give away to someone in need.
