thank you to the men and women who volunteer their time or who have taken this up as a profession to care for our lost loves and the people who have lost them!! you guys are great 👍 thank you for being a no-kill shelter and going out of your way as you do to help unite us or to help those that need companions find the right one.
Bearded Batman
This place is absolutely amazing. You can go And find an amazing 4 legged furball who will love you. We adopted a beautiful sweet boy named Pharaoh and gave him his forever home. This staff is absolutely amazing as well.

Not sure why some people do bad reviews for humane societies, after I had lost my cat Max , I had trapped another one and brought it in . My experience ,since I filed my lost cat report ,to trapping the wrong cat and having them help me through it all help d so much as my greeting and searching for Max has taken a toll on me . Every single person I spoke to ,at least 6-8 people were very polite ,nice ,caring ,professional and loving , I cannot be more grateful for the amount of love these people out in their work . It's mind blowing . Opened up the idea of me actually volunteering eventually and be a part of this almost invisible ,line of work and sacrifice that all these people are doing . Forever thankful and I'm speechless at their willing to talk to me and take time to help me .

I never posted a review after I adopted my kitten, Binx, from HSSW, but I feel it’s important to do now, especially during the holiday season. I adopted Binx about 8 months ago, and life has been so much fun with him in it. His big brother, Indigo, and I adore him, and we have HSSW to thank for him. They were wonderful to work with! It was such an efficient adoption process despite it happening during a particularly rough time with the pandemic. The online application process is awesome, and the staff are even better. I highly recommend HSSW if you are considering adding a pet to your pack. Thanks again, HSSW!
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
If you would like to have your dog after your are better, then I would ask a friend to care for him. Otherwise I would surrender him to a humane society.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel. I don’t know if WCGHS could do that or not, but if you need help I recommend emailing Orchid Hills Vet Clinic. They immediately helped me with a question I had, and they are so nice. I hope this helps!
Sorry I went down in person I have not tried calling them
Good Neighbor Vet has various clinics at discount prices. Bimart and Retail thrift stores are some places.
The Vancouver location only accepts animals from Clark county
There is a donation truck on site at the southwest washington humane society, on 192nd,in Vancouver.
Bring them here to the Humane Society of Southwest Washington.
Blankets, yes. Pillows, no as they will shred them and could injest the stuffing.
Make an appointment for a surrender
Hi there. We do accept rabbits, please visit hssw.org/lost-found for information about bringing in a stray/lost animal.
Yes
Cal the Humane Society, they will have guidsnce.
Hello! We do offer a volunteer program for teens. There is an application and interview process that you can learn about at hssw.org/volunteer Thanks!
Yes they will.
Orchards plaza best friend's grooming. 5 dollars. They are great...
You know what, I'm not sure that they do; I do, however, know that Tender Care Animal Rescue in Vancouver does. Here is their website: tendercareanimalrescue.org
Agreed, take him to the vet or to the Humane Society for adoption.
Hi Desi Thanks for your question. We don't have time limits on how long an animal can stay with us - and we never euthanize for space. In fact, we have just the opposite problem - we often have too few dogs and cats! We have an active transport program that brings dogs and cats from other shelters who are overwhelmed and have limitations on space.
A DOG DOES NOT NEED TO BE TRAINED LIKE THAT...ALL THEY ARE DOING IS TAKING THE DOGS SPRIT AND IT WILL RUIN A GREAT DOG...THEY WANT TO PLEASE SO AT WORSE A TAP ON THE BUTT AND ONLY IF IT IS NECESSARY...YES THE PERSON DOES NOT NEED TO BE AROUND ANIMALS OF ANY KIND...REPORT HIM...AND CALL AGAIN AND MAYBE AGAIN UNTIL THE PERSON IS PUNISHED FOR THERE BEHAVIOR...THERE SHOULD BE A FLAG UP BY THAT PERSON NAME SO HE IS NEVER TO OWN A ANIMAL...OR IF THERE IS ANY REPORT ABOUT HIM AND ANIMALS THEY WILL KNOW WHO THEY ARE DEALING WITH...THANKS FOR REPORTING THIS...WE ARE THERE VOICES...IF WE DON.T SPECK UP FOR THEM WE ARE JUST AS BAD...GOD BLESS YOU...
I.M SURE THEY WILL...OR SOME OF IT...they and take some time with the two...I GOT MARRIED AND SHE CAME WITH A 1 YEAR OLD DOG AND I HAVE 2 DOGS MY SELF AND IT TAKES TIME...AND WE'RE TILL WORKING ON IT 4 months now and it has got better...they still have THERE moments.. .But they are worth it...TIME...BEST OF LUCK...THEY ARE LIKE CHILDREN...IT WILL WORK...
The shelter will take it. We brought our dog beds and toys, after our dog passed away from cancer.
I don't know the type of food. How long did you have the cats, 2 days, 4 days? They need adjustments to their surroundings. If they haven't eaten in more than 3 days, there may be another issue outside their eating habits. Sometimes shelters will let you know what brands they feed their cats, but you want to make sure the brand has all the proper nutrients the cats needs, which is different from a dog. You should call and ask, or ask your vet, they may suggest a different brand.
I know they do before adopting animals out, I don't know if you can bring your own animal in for the procedure.
I am pretty sure it has to do with breed and if it gets reported to the powers that be. Sorry i dont have a better answer.
I would get in contact with animal control for an animal bite, if the dog is licensed and has a rabies shot they should know. They'd be the ones to proceed with further if the animal doesn't
You want them gone gone? Relocating a colony is challenging. I will see if i know someone who can help. Give a couple days and i will update this.
A groomer can look at matted fur and try to make it smaller to minimize cut or shave if one is needed!
Yes they can!
Yes, if you get food or medical assistance
Yes
Yes. There are programs that help people with pets. I believe one of them is the Salvation Army. The person can also call 211.
You can call the Humane Society and ask for Admissions. They will be able to assist you.
If you see them on the OHS website, many times they're already adopted by the time you get there a couple hours later. Just FYI.
Hi there. All of our adoptable animals are on our website. You can see the dogs at hssw.org/adopt/dogs
All animals are spayed and neutered before being placed for adoption
Yes
If they have grown up together or been together for a very long time (years) you might want to consider taking it to the vet and have it checked out. there's apparently something going on that you're unaware of.
From experience putting your dog down is the hardest...be there with them...know that they are no longer suffering...
The retails location on 4th plain is still taking donations. Tuesday - Saturday 10am to 3pm. If that helps any.
Only if you are giving it away
They are back logged due to covid it took me 2.5 months to get my call back to have a appointment well worth the wait
Call them during the hours that they are open
Yes but the hours are different than before the pandemic so check the website or Facebook page.
Are you asking about surrendering your cat? Just take it in there.
I am so very sorry my heart goes out to you and your kitty. Yes they do. You have to call first.
Hello. Yes, you can bring the kittens here if you are unable to care for them. You would need to contact our team first - go to hssw.org/lost-found to learn more.
At least in 2022, cats at risk from those viruses are tested for FIV/FeLv
Animal shelter on 192nd. Make an appt go surrender
I would call and ask them.
Donna i don't know another awesome program like humane society's prices but we get our male and female cats done with a cat care plan through banfield and if your cat is under 6 months the plan is 25 dollars and with spay it increases to 40 a month more if your cat is over 6 months its like $91 to get it started and thats including the first visit which will provide shots and dewormer and includes free pet visits and routine wellness stuff and a 10 percent off products and other procedures. Hope that helps ps the 1600 mill plain so far has the best care for your pets and I've been to almost all Vancouver locations good luck
The Humane Society will take cats/kittens for rehoming. Give them a call for details.
You need to take it up with your apartment manager.
Hi Kerri. You could complete a lost pet report at hssw.org/lost-found, but that would only apply to animals who are brought into our shelter. You might want to look at local pet groups for lost/found animals on facebook. They are active groups and could be a good option to have people keep an eye out for them
A Google user : maybe you should call the shelter and have them come and possibly pick up the kitten. I am sure they can help!!
The shelter can probably take most of the items directly, rather than taking to the thrift store trailer. I have donated items before. So sorry for the loss of a precious family member.
Look at them on the website, then fill out an application. They will schedule an appointment with you.
No
Yes, a absolutely. Second chance companion.( Low income,) SWWHS might be able to help offer affordable services. ""PLEASE SPAY AND NEUTER. 🐈🐾🐾🐕🐾🐾 Will you be getting help forthe kittens?? 🐱🐈Adoption, adoption, adoption. Lots of valuable information is available. May the LORD Shine his LOVE over you. 💓
Hello! You can find this information at hssw.org/adopt Thanks!
Hello! We may have a sphynx at the shelter occasionally, but it's rare. You can check hssw.org/cats for available cats.
Hello. You can find all images of lost/stray pets in our care by viewing our website: hssw.org/lost-found We're so sorry to hear your cat is missing! We hope you're reunited soon.
Hi Steven! You'll need to review Washington State Department of Health regulations. We can't help with any of the regulations directly. Here's a link: https://www.doh.wa.gov/YouandYourFamily/IllnessandDisease/Rabies/PetVaccinationRequirement/PetImportandExport If that doesn't work, just search "Washington State Pet Import and Export"
You can donate pillowcases to the shelter but check if they accept whole pillows. Another option is to donate your pillows to the Retails thrift store which is run by the Humane Society and raises funds for the shelter.
It closes with regular store hours.
All I know is that you have to pay some money for them to take your animal. There us a process and you can research in their website.
You have to identify the cat in person, you should go down in the morning when they open and have all your questions answered.
Hello. Yes, you can learn more about volunteering at hssw.org/volunteer
Hi Lilly. You can learn about the teen program at hssw.org/volunteer. No, we do not accept walk-in or casual volunteering. Thanks for your question!
Hi Bob. You're welcome to learn more about volunteering at hssw.org/volunteer

Hi Kaylee. We offer spay and neuter services for the felines of low-income families. If you feel you qualify for that, you can learn more about the program and its pricing at hssw.org/spay
Hi Barbara. We cannot offer health checks with our shelter vets - you can, however, receive exams for a very low cost with our partners at Good Neighbor Vet. They are here regularly for appointments - and you can find them throughout our community. Learn more at goodneighborvet.com
Hello, any of the local animal shelters will take pets that you can no longer keep. Being you have puppies they will be adopted very quickly! There are also many breed specific rescues that are in our area and they have more of an ability to be picky and fit your puppies with the correct home. Unlike the shelters who run on a first come first serve basis.
Hi Linda. We can't help with these requests. Clark County Animal Control is responsible for retrieving lost/stray pets. You can cal them at 564.397.2488
You would need to go to the location, and see for your self. They all need new homes.
Hello Jayne Our staff is unable to provide vaccines for "owned animals" in our community. This is due to Washington State regulations. However, we do partner with Good Neighbor Vet for regular clinics. You can find the dates, times, locations and details at www.goodneighborvet.com
You can call them they may have a suggestion of what you can do with them.
That is absolutely untrue. They will take the dog back. As far as the history, they dont know the history of the dogs that come through for the most part. You can't expect them to know everything about a dog. They WILL take him back
You should probably call them because I have no idea what you're saying, I'm sorry.
I believe the animal drop allows you to stop by starting at noon
They don't do dogs at this location. Inky through the Oregon Humane Society.
Yes, I have seen small animals there such as rabbits and rats.
Yes, my girlfriend knows someone who speaks Spanish who works there. I do not speak any. Yes my girlfriend knows someone who speaks Spanish that works there. I do not speak any.
Humane Society. They are great...
No
Gotta call them?!😳
Sometimes if they have a rescue, if you are truly looking to give a forever home check the Oregon spca on Columbia Blvd.

Hello! There is no fee to drop off a stray animal. You can learn more at hssw.org/lost-found
Hi Daniel Sorry to hear you have to make this difficult decision. Yes, there is a small fee for euthanasia services. You'll want to contact our team directly to learn more about those fees. You can reach them at 360-213-2621. If they aren't able to pick up, please leave a message. You can also learn more about this service on our website: https://hssw.org/community/support-for-families/#Euthanasia
Call them. They have a separate entrance on the side for incomming pets. They are very helpful and understanding.
Hi Robert. Are you asking how you can put your cat up for adoption? If so, you'll want to check out information about surrendering your pet. You can find that information at hssw.org/pet-surrender
Hi Carol Sorry to hear about this. Unfortunately, Washington State law prohibits us from providing any medical care or consultation to "owned animals" in our community (meaning, animals who have a family providing for their care). We would recommend contacting local vets to see if they have an affordable payment plan option for exams. Good luck!
You can walk in and look at the animals.
It's along shot. Try calling the Parrot Perch in Hazeldell.
Hi Emma. Yes, you can bring in any stray kittens that you've found. You can learn more at hssw.org/straykittens
Hi Brenda. So sorry to hear you have to rehome your dogs. We know how hard that can be. Yes, we are happy to help. You can find more information on our website - https://southwesthumane.org/lost-found/surrendering-your-pet/ There you'll find information about the process as well as a form that is REALLY helpful for us to learn more about your dogs and help find them the best home for them.
Oregon humane society on columbia is where we adopted out guinea pig
They do not take wild or stray animals at OHS. Try the Audubon Society.
Call the local Humane Society they would be the folks that can help you and or lead you in the right direction.
Hello Laura! Thank you for the offer - we do not. It's rare we have a need for straw.
Yes, more than likely there will still be kittens in August
Yes to a limited extent
Call and ask.
Yes
You can go and walk around the humane society and see all the dogs they have and you can also interact with some dogs that you might like
On the south side of the building, not on the front go to the left side of the building there is a set of doors there.
Not sure, can call and ask
Never heard of it there that I can remember.
Hi Bella We occasionally receive ferrets, but we do not adopt them out. With the exception of rabbits, all small (adoptable) animals are placed with other adoption or rescue agencies who specialize in the care and placement of small animals.
You can take him up to the humane society they will take him.
They try, however there are some animals because of health or temperament are not fit for adoption and will be humanely euthanized, never because of space or because of time in the shelter though. Currently they have approximately 96% success rate.
call for information.
Hi Ruth, Andria is absolutely correct. They scan for chips right away, so keep your information updated. Take care, Ken
Try calling them
yes they do. I highly suggest shopping around for Price's with other places as well.
Contact the shelter and inquire about the Spay & Save program.
Clark County Animal Control
It is very low cost if part of the Spay and Save package. We got our kitten spayed and the microchip for $25.
Hi Ryan. We do not. In Clark County, Animal Control is responsible for picking up lost and stray animals.
I would call them to see.
Rabies at your vet. License can be mailed in to the county after you get your rabies.
Yes
Be very concerned
Never rehome animals for free - too many people have bad intentions. You can contact Oregon Humane Society or The Portland Guinea Pig Rescue.
$300 - $500 depending on the breed. All puppies are vetted, spayed or neutered, have their first shots and you get a free wellness exam.
You would probably do best to go in. They are more helpful in person.
Call animal control to capture the dogs. WA state has leash laws and if those dogs are running loose or messing on your front yard, take a picture of the dog and report them. If you see them on your property, hose them with a garden hose or soak pieces if towels in vinegar and put them on your lawn, they are an effective deterrent.
Our dog was $200.00 but he had special needs so could be more.
Post an outdoor sign like the kind you'll find at BiMart for garage sales at each intersection. Also drop off fliers at local vets and shelters. There are quite a few so don't just go to one. There is a list available at the SW Washington Humane society that you can use as a reference. Post on Nextdoor. There are a lot of veterinarians so focus on the 24 hour emergency ones first and then work your way down to local clinics. Post fliers at major grocery stores in your area. And don't give up!
Dixie is still available as of sunday evening. The Humane Society is closed on Mondays and will open again at noon on Tuesday. If you go at 10:00 AM, knock on the door and tell them you want a pick of the litter number for Dixie, you will be the first one to meet her when they open at noon. Otherwise it's first come first served.
Yes we take opened and unopened pet food, flea meds, cat and dog toys, towels blankets, anything for cats and dogs. There's also a donation truck in the parking lot for Retails, our thrift store
Absolutely, we always need towels! Also there is a donation truck on site, for usable discards. Proceeds benefit the animals!
You can call or look online.
Sorry, I do not know. It might be on their website.
No, you will have to do that in Oregon. Vets have the forms.
Unless you walk in some else’s shoes do not judge or point your finger ! There are times that people surrender there pets because of health issues of the owner! Or the pet has needs the owner cannot meet ! And there are times that you are correct !
The vet can determine age by teeth ect.. and breed is never 100% that's why it will say for example German Shepard mix , the German Shepard will be obvious but the mix would be unknown.
I volunteer there & I got all the info I needed from their website.
The Spay and Save program, offered most weeks, has spay/neuter for about $20 for people on government assistance. Please call the shelter for more info.
Call them and ask or go on their website
I beleive if you call the Humane Society that they would be able to answer your question. ☺
Look online
Call them they can trip you so you need to know.
Report them to SPCA if they are a threat or not fixed, shots up to date and if they terrorize
Honestly, i am not sure. Truthfully i know that all people can volunteer too find happy for these poor friends. Please if you love them like myself and my Blazer, Jack Russell, Parsons. Please check into this. Love them they deserve much more
Bring them to the humane society or a local rescue group. Tender Care rescue group is a good one. One of them is a vet tech who could take care of young puppies like that; and they are a no kill rescue group.
Not certain what you're asking. However, any puppy or kitten that's available for adoption will be posted on the website. If this doesn't answer your question, please clarify what you want to know.
No, they don't. But since they're feral, they transfer them to organizations that handle them. They do keep and place in homes those that can be socialized. Namely the kittens. The rest are trapped, neutered, and released (TNR).
