You're going to the wrong place. A number of the staff at this location are unfriendly, uncaring, ineffecient/slow, and biased. Not everyone who works here falls into this, but some of those in supervisory positions do, so trickle down more than likely has taken place. After speaking with DPS headquarters in Austin, I decided to go to another location and the staff there were friendly, helpful, worked well together (i.e. a lot faster), and professional (not prejudiced/biased). Seriously, I spent three days in a row at this location, waited 2-3 hours each time, and got nowhere. I spent 30 minutes at another location in Ft. Worth, no appointment, just walked in, got what I needed and got out of there. Just go to a different DPS center. It'll likely make a world of difference.

In my own experience, I went without calling or making an appointment, I just went in and took a turn because I needed to get my class c driver's license, and the process was quick, it really was a pleasant experience.

Make sure that you have crossed your t's and dotted your i's,because it took me 6 trips to finally get my license. They only give you partial information and send you away, and then it's something different each time. I finally got fed up and refused to leave the last time until they got everything straight. I insisted on the supervisor and he was able to get the job done that time around. They were just not doing their job and always had an attitude.

Hi there yes you do have to make an appointment I would recommend either making an appointment with the Carrollton Mega Center or the Garland Mega Center... and it only took about 7-10 days for me to actually get my replacement in the mail.. and of course they gave me a temporary right at my appointment... and yes absolutely the airlines should take a temporary... the police take it, my job takes it, my insurance takes it ...any government building will take it... bet call and make sure but I cannot imagine it all that they wouldn't

A surety bond is usually purchased via an insurance representative. For example, it you needed one for a DPS program, you'd more than likely approach your business insurance counterpart, if you have one.

For the driver license, I recommend the mega-center in Carrollton. I only had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment. Other offices were 3 to 4 months. The vehicle registration is through your county tax office.

I suggest for recent experience to go to the DPS location very early as 4 or 5 AM to get on the line to get a service ticket as walk in. They assist a certain people for that day. If you go after 6am you are definitely late.

They give tokens for walk in early in the morning at 6 30. But you need to reach before that because the people starting coming aroung 5 40ish and there will be a queue there. You will have to show them all the documents and then if everything is fine, they give you token for time which is available for same day. They dont give choice to select the time slot.

Due to pandemic I have taken appointment online for renewing the licence. On the day of appointment reached 30 min before appointment and they have scanned my application and given a token. Its pretty simple and straightforward

For Mega Center, If you get there before they open, you have a chance of getting a reservation for that day due cancellations. I did. Everyone is very helpful. It was the best experience I have had at the DPS. Many thanks to DPS and all you do!

This is true. appointment was at 5pm. and online it stated they closed at 5pm. When they finally called us at 530 to get out our cars to line up for 5 Oclock time I looked at the time. and it was 530pm. Then i began to see 6pm and 7pm times being called up until I left. This is a Mega Center so it will attract alot of people. And its located right by a major freeway so its easy access to find. Best bet is find the smaller DPS near you, but there still will be a long wait time, just maybe not as long.

Monday's and Friday's are the busiest time point blank. What season it is does not really make any difference. What you should try to avoid is anytime schools are out. The lines get longer by tenfold. Examples would be summer break, spring break, Christmas break, and so on.

There's no such thing as a handicap license. If you're speaking of a handicap license placard or plate, that is done at the Tax office withing the county you live in. Texas DPS does not issue handicap placards, vehicle registration or vehicle titles. That's all done at your county tax office.

Last I know that they closed online appointment for the month of July. They open at 8 and I was there at 7.30 AM without appointment amd I was done by 8.44 AM. May be I was lucky. If online appointment is open, you certainly must take an appointment, if not, go there as early as 7ish and get done in an hour.
