They do not run Dallas Life properly. Several of rules need to be changed...They have extremely rude staff and is somewhat negligent of ppl who come there to violate others. They are way too attentive to fraternizing than the people causing trouble. They should give parents more time upstairs before closing the floor. Curfew shouldn't be at 8pm when it's about 100°+ outside bc the heat delays routines pertaining to the outside. Since there's a rule stating the guests shower daily, there should also be a rule stating that guests also need to groom their hair instead of normalising uncombed hair. They have also normalized gossip, backstabbing, cult, racism and prejudice.A lot of ppl, both staff and guests, were very malicious & rude to me for no good reason. And they do need to fix showers so that the water isn't always scarlet hot. Also, if someone is complaining that someone is harassing them, take some kind of action immediately instead of risking a bad outcome.

Christian my butt. They separate families here. If you are not married you can’t have any contact with your significant other. They separate men from their children. Forcing your ideas and beliefs on others is not Christian like. Christians help everyone. The staff is not friendly and don’t listen to you and your concerns. They speak over you when you are talking, like a child. You shouldn’t attempt to belittle people. Maybe take a class on what it is to be Christian.

This place is about getting people back on their feet and not so much a place just to lay your head at night to get by or kill time. If you want to get back on your feet you have to be willing to go through some B.S. you may not agree with or like no matter where you go including here but I was there a few years to ago and am thankful for what was provided despite a few unpleasant experiences. It's also probably one of the safest shelters around & I have been to a few others. This place helps those that are ready to be helped, if you're not ready then go to the Bridge.

Your rash may have been from bedbugs. The 8 months i was there, 8 yrs ago, the place was infested with them. The sheets, blankets & towels were washed, however when somebody left, the mattresses were not disinfected which should be mandatory, because unfortunately theres so many chronically homeless there, some with skin issues.
The homeless no more program is 10 months long and yes the first 30 days you stay on the property taking classes. There are many more freedoms as well once they help people break old habits. You can check in from 4pm-8pm everyday and yes, you can pay in advance.
Gracie, that's a lie. You can only shower in the morning or before bed. Not on Sunday unless you work. How can they get paid if their in a career readiness program a development program? These guys will lie to you and tell you the truth at the same time! Open your eyes up out here. Basically a prison people that are houses housed there volunteer/work like I said. They manage the bays, search your bags before you come in. Bags go to the basement to dry. Clean or dirty to kill any bacteria bugs ECT . and the lady that was doing that wen i was there slept in the next three beds over from me. The store that's in there where they cook burgers or phillys the guy lived in the men's bay and the girl slept six spaces to my right! Was she being paid?? Idk, I assume cause every night she was either drunk or high from the two dollar k2 or spice whatever you may know them by are sold across from Dallas life where the white housed are. Now it's a reason they get upset wen they see u taking pics
Why are the homeless charged for food? Does this shelter receive any kind of assistance? I know someone who desperately needs help. They are in a wheelchair with one leg. But after reading multiple reviews im hesitant to direct them there. Of course anyone who works there is expected to say only good things about the place..but are all these people lying?? Update: I made this ⬆ post a year ago...no one from Dallas Life has addressed the post or the concerns I voiced..that in itself speaks volumes. Fortunately I didn't direct the person I spoke about to this place seeing as I couldn't get any questions answered and all the horrible reviews. I would have felt terrible sending someone there only for them to be mistreated or unfairly treated. At this point Im convinced whomever runs this place doesn't read these reviews or simply just don't care..its sad. I am praying for everyone..and am sending love and positive energy to those that unfortunately have to deal with this.
Dallas LIFE loves having the police department as neighbors! They are always glad to have officers stop by.
If you leave for a day o two maybe three days and your clothes gets thrown in the trash even if you pay for your bed up front. As for food i dont eat there people are ok some anyway i really didnt communicate with noone but the regular worker were kool with me
Yes its parking not sure if it's free and God bless U.
Yeah if anyone Did any further investigation they would find out as a matter a fact tge cooks and help in the kitchen know they cook there separate food and diffrent dessert. That place is a mess they need better people looking out for the familys and people who are there .
The parent has to handle the reuniting when it involves CPS. Dallas life takes parents with kids but is not able to provide legal services.
Yes women who are on parole can stay. And there first 5 nights are free. I think the Bridge Shelter on Austin St. would provide better resources for them though
They will work with you if you have to take children to school but there are school buses that come there also. Yes families get there own room but if any are over 18 they will have to be in the dorms. I hope this helps.
I have to idea if this is true or not. In reality, this question had nothing to do with The services offered or the help this facility provides. As you said, you heard it through the grapevine. Which is where everyone has heard this rumor. So ignore it, get the help you need, and move on and donate back to those who helped you along the way
True. I'm paying to stay at Dallas Life and waiting on affordable housing. If you have an income source you must pay $12.00 a day to stay at Dallas Life. If not you must join one of the programs but I've seen a bunch of people graduate with jobs, get housing and move out. You can stay at Dallas Life up to 24 months. But you only get 5 free days one time. If you leave after (example) 2 days and come back you loose the other 3 days. However you can stay (example) 4 months and if you leave on good terms you are welcome to come back and still have 20 months left. You can accrue your time by coming and going if you want to. The smart thing to do is stay as long as you need to stay and exit properly and not become homeless again. It's not fun being homeless and none of us want to be homeless but Dallas Life is a very good way to turn your life around and do it the right way.
Crystal yes we can help and Yes we are able to help the disabled! We have a program for folks with physical or mental disabilities! This program works to do many things for you and getting housing is one of those things. Our special program meets the needs of the disabled and does not take advantage of them ever! Rules are given to everyone when they arrive and those rules do not change. This is a safe place and they help you find housing once you complete the recovery program! They do not have money to give for rent help but they can help those who come to them for shelter and assistance.
Listen no u dont have to "go through" their program... As. Soon as u can, go behind them. And apply using either Family gateway or under one roof...in less than 4 months u will be moved in... Assuming u have kids... If not then it'll take allot longer.
You have to check. But if you get there early enough like by 9 am you will more likely to get a spot.
They saved me and help me get back on my feet. If you can follow simple rules you can make it.
They can let you in and help you ge ID in your first 5 nights.
If you don’t have a I.D can you still come
Well watch what you say because you could end up in a situation to where you lose everything
No its a great place. The have an excellent program called New life where you go through a 10 month program to help you back on your feet and will help you get housing. The only reason people say its a bad place is because they don't like to follow rules. Cause Dallas Life does really help people out. They help you out way better then THE Salvation Army
They are both correct except for one thing, go to the VA and have them send you here. The only way to enter the Veteran's program is to be put in by them.
Donations arenaccepted on the back dock from 9am-5pm, Mon-Sat. Thank you in advance for your help.
Yes you can go at any hour
Yes, if it's her first time coming to the shelter. She has to get there early to wait in line.
I have a place that take woman and kids only
No you can't.
Not sure I only drive people to here.
No, I don't! Many apartment complexes have section 8 housing help.
1100 Cadiz St. Dallas, Tx. 75215
Don't do it💯💯
Pay the 10 bucks. The fact that you owe them and won't pay speaks volumes.
Dallas is great. Just try to live in a decent community and try not to socialize with bad company of people. Take care.
Go there between 10am and 1pm.
Are you a Veteran?
Yes 19 years old can go but it cost 9 or 10 dollars to stay there
We take singles as well as parents with children. They must have birth certificates to prove they are the legal parent/guardian.
Yes! They take new people every day!
They have dorms for single men and women. Private rooms are for married couples and parents with children.
You get five days free then its 12 bucks a night or you join a program
Dallas life is a place where reuniting happens but they are not capable of giving any kind of legal advice. They do have private rooms for parents with children if they come.
If you have ID then you simply show up. They run a background check to double check no felonies against a child and then you are admitted. 7 days a week 4pm-8pm they take in new people. They are building a new intake space so that you can wait inside but it is not done yet, so they have misting systems to help cool down the waiting area and they give bottled water too while you wait.
Go in and ask the receptionist at the front desk I want to say between the hours of 10-2
It's 4pm-8pm everyday of the week. They do run a background check first and then you are to get in due to kids living in the building. The first 5 nights are free for you to figure out if you want to pay to stay or to do the Homeless no More Program which is free. You can head down today!
Dallas Life can help you! 1100 Cadiz St. Dallas, TX 75215. They intake new people from 4pm-8pm everyday!
Yes, they have private rooms for married couples with children and single parents with children.
Too my knowledge they do not provide transportation but if they are in dallas area then find us fairly easy from the Convention Center Station its a straight walk up Griffin Street from there and it is a great program for someone who is trying to get there life in order if they are not probably isn't the place for them they won't be refused but if they join the 10 month program they will be randomly ua'd and breathalyzed upon suspicion of alcohol they are a very loving and caring staff that can seem hard on you at times but its really only because they care about you hope that answered some of your questions
Dallas Life gives clothes away to people who live there for free and the staff do not get the clothes. There is a clothing room coordinator who handles that stuff and distribute it. There are some staff who are in their workforce program who get clothes but they also live there.
...i prefer pickups, always got room in the back to toss cool stuff in i may espy along my daily travels...
They help with bus passes for certain appointments, parents activities and job searches. But they don't just give them out endlessly.
Yes you can! Dallas LIFE has a Pay to stay program and they can help you until you get a paycheck too! This is a great place and you would be great to choose to live there for a time! They hav 24 hour security and a wonderful clean facility!
Dallas LIFE intake starts at 4pm and goes till 8pm every evening 7 days a week. If you are there earlier you can fill out the paperwork.
Dallas LIFE has a medical, dental and vision clinic for it's residents. They have a variety of services they can do and residents can sign up for the clinic through their program directors.
Probably not but, if the three levels of stairs pose a problem there's an elevator that security will take you up on, if it's not out of service.
It is in Dallas. No based on earnings. 12 dollars daily or free if you join the Christian program.
Like any business, Dallas Life had technical issues this week but their internet is up and running again. They remained open during the issue with a few limitations but were still able to house and help the homeless.
If you are banned it is due to an issue resulting in your leaving. You can call and ask if you are unsure of how long you are banned but you would have been told usually when you left. Threatening the staff or a crime is usually what results in a permanent ban.
You have to have a license. But you have to be careful and see if that's a place for you
When someone joins the program or stays at Dallas LIFE, It costs them $29.75 every day to keep someone and they receive no money for that person being in the program from anywhere. If someone has income then they pay only $12 a night which doesn't cover the cost but it does help with accountability for that person and paying something towards their stay. This helps people get back into the habit of paying bills and rent for when they leave Dallas life. If someone has no income then the program is free for them. If someone does not want to join the program and just stay then they must pay the $12 night, only the program is free with no income. Dallas LIFE has donors who help pay the rest of the costs.
Due to privacy laws, you have to be in contact with someone, they are not allowed to tell anyone who is and is not staying with them. You can ask for a message to be posted to that person in case they are there. The only time that they share if someone is staying there is if the authorities need that information for justice or safety.
Dallas LIFE has a free program, 3 meals a day, bed, toiletries, clothing, everything anyone needs. If ppl don’t want to join program then it’s $12 to stay. That’s cause they are all about the program and other places are just to stay and not recover. There are a lot of homeless people who do have money and so there is a convenience store for extras they want but ppl don’t pay for their meals or stay if they have no income. It’s not a gross place to stay at all and if someone doesn’t want to be at Dallas LIFE they have lots of options in our area.
You can get in from 4pm to 8:30pm each day of week.
You must be in contact with that person. Dallas Life is governed by the same HPA laws as hospitals and drug rehab facilities. We cannot tell you if someone is here; we cannot tell you if they aren't. The most that can be done is a written message can be left for the individual and it will be posted on a bulletin board, it is then up to them to see and respond if they choose to.
The New Life program is free pay-to-stay costs $12 a day
It's not a bad place if you can get past the bed bugs and the high cost in the store that's where they killing the homeless is in that highest c-store
Yes there is room!!!
Yes people staying at Dallas life can use it as their mailing address. We have a mail clerk who handles all the mail.
You don't claim them on your taxes?? Sounds like at least 14 thousand.
Valid ID and social security card...if you dont have a social...they will give you ample enough time to get it...but valid ID is a must... Birth certificate for each child is a must... Good luck and hope you want have to be there long in Jesus name I pray Amen
Yes, any day
Yes
They have a stay and pay program where you come and go in between 8am and 8pm. The other program is 10 month long during which you stay on property no visitors, and do not work. There is no checkout time I was made aware of.
You need picture ID for all adults and for kids birth certificate and social security card for every one . And Marriage certificate if married
