Stayed there two weeks staff rude. Was being assaulted when I was sleeping by another. Client a young black girl in the bed across from one clien who was up one night seen her hitting me on my right arm I woke up with multiple bruises one morning. Staff didn't do a damn thing . I'm a domestic violence survivor. The place is a joke .

This is the most unprofessional place I've ever been too and saw how they treated people at this location. The security guys and women working there in front only takes black folks in each day at leave white and brown skin people outside the door and said the beds ran out and they're full and it was only 10 people they can let in but they're supposed to have a big facility here. How can you turn those who comes for help and turned down those who are not black? I wouldn't wanna donate to this place instead donate to those other places who will try to help everyone comes through the door. This is uncalled for and it needs to open an investigation on this place asap. What they're doing with the donations and who's been going on inside this building. I was told by someone who used to stayed at this place that they some people in there abused other women in there on their beds. SMH!

I was there in a volunteer fashion, and am impressed with the efficiency of the place π

It is better than being in freezing weather on a bed not the concrete or ground! Ls
Also since it's been in the hi 90s n 100s intake may be as early as 11am for women and 1pm for men. On the normal schedule it's 2pm for women and 4pm for men. There is usually a yellow cooler outside the door with water in it too.
You can go just show them your schedule and you go across the street I been homeless 2 months
Very nice and cleaned and they feed breakfast and lunch and Dinner
USUALLY THEY WILL FOR ANYONE TRYING TO GET BACK HOME DUE TO HOMELESSNESS
If you get here around 11am or 12pm find a spot in line. You need a valid id; make sure you don't have any food, alcohol, drugs or weapons. (The line is on the shaded side of the street.)
What time do I have to check-in and check-out everyday do I have to leave the facility every day and what time do I have to be back in order to secure my bed
Yes, but parking close to Austin Street is not available.
Most definitely. All donations welcomed.
Intake 4 women at 2pm . Intake 4 men at 4pm. .. stay every night..as long as you are OVER 45!
Do I know you?
If you have reserved baby you can go in and out until 6:30
You have to call and see if they have beds available
Austin Street Center is a overnight emergency shelter,,,you are welcomed to stay everyday until you cab find something that works for you,,there is no fees and you have to check in at the time of in take... I hope this answers your question
2929 Hickory, Dallas, Texas
Actually intake lasts until the beds are full. I suggest when you get to town call the main number and ask if there are any beds available
Only week old green ham sandwiches!!
Hardly ,This is shelter for recent and possibly chronically homeless with aims toward stability
Just wanted to add that there aren't any children aloud at this facility so even tho they can probably give it to a different place that does have children you might find a facility that could use it sooner.
I wonder the same thing
2 bags, each one can not be over 25 pounds because they will weigh them to make sure they are equal in weight an you are also allowed to have a backpack that you can come an go with also intake time is at 4 pm for men so you'll want to get in line around 3-3:30 an if it is your first time going there you'll be able to skip the line an be first one in also must have valid id as well which they will ask for an check it before they bring you into the shelter and I hope what said helps you out
Austin street shefter you must be 45 years old for men there a family shefter on st. Paul st. Down from bridge shefter on the southside of downtown Dallas in also Dallas life foundation on 1100 Cadiz st. Dallas, Tx.75215
There is so much medical problems needed for the older male... And this facility need a direct attention from the male population to keep a calm environment..... RESPECT.....NO HOT HEADS
Yes they can
No. Women intake is at 2pm and men 4pm. Once you come in you're not allowed to go back out. If you go out the door for any reason they will ban you for "taking advantage of services". You will be considered a walk out and won't be allowed to return for a week. Now if you want to do a certain number of hours of chores per week you can get a reserved bed and your curfew will be 6:30. Also if you work a full time job you can get a reserved bed and your curfew will depend on your work schedule.
I know every day different companies feed the homeless
Check in is at four. You gotta line up with all kinds of low level people you will hate it. If you are strung out then go there if not stay away far away
Check in for men is 3:30pm
4pm
Hi I was in Austin Street and no they don't take women with children but Family Place shelter will. Good luck!
Dont know am not there sorry
Report them weirdos! They're not supposed to be there.
One word... Ok wait two words ;;; overworked,,, underpaid
Intake begins at 1pm M-F for both men and women. It is done by lottery. At 1 everyone draws a number to fill any available beds.
Austin Street offers access to services provided by community partners as well as case management to help find housing. Clients can be assigned a case manager once one is available. That case manager will work with you to determine what programs or subsidies that you qualify for through the government or other organizations. Community partner come on site often to offer medical care. All of these various services are only for people who stay at the shelter.
Why don't the married men stay away from the girls. The men are 45yrs old. It's a shelter to provide shelter, not a life skills facility.
U can talk to the security guard that are there and they will get u with someone
Just call Austin Street Center and they will let you know.
That's not an issue. I see all ages at Austin Street
Yes, you'll get a case manager. They'll need SS card, birth certificate, and state issued ID/DL. It takes some time, was told 1 day up to 90 days. Austin Street Center has many rules and there is no master list anywhere, which is very frustrating for a newly homeless person.
I agree. That makes no sense at all.
They are given breakfast and released for the day.
The must protocol is to get a covid negative result. The living room is free And you'll need an appointment & referral from our calling is the easiest place. Before you even attempt to go in. The police will not be able to get you there. The bus that goes right by there is the 11 bixel from the west end transfer station. Good luck.

Deliver them in person. It's better that way.
No
You must have a full time job and request a reserved bed to be able to stay in daily. They also have a special program for women across the Street called the Sisterhood.
Try Salvation Army r Dallas Life. Both of these shelters could better assist u while you're pregnant
Applying for housing through City Square is faster.
Yes you can keep your phone number
I work there the age required is 18 years old unless you have a parent with you
You can stay for a while but they have caseworkers there to help you with housing

The Center is open every day. Hope that helps.
Thank God for these places they're all over the state probably all over the nation that help in times of need it's a temporary lift up that's what it's intended for and it works it's not a permanent place but it's not supposed to be either so it does fulfill his purpose and it is very helpful if used properly who God has blessed these places when people that run it when the favor of God blows two people that are allowed to be blessed by these areas and these places in the state and that coming to our life for whatever purpose God uses it for his glory in Jesus name
