If you are banned it is due to an issue resulting in your leaving. You can call and ask if you are unsure of how long you are banned but you would have been told usually when you left. Threatening the staff or a crime is usually what results in a permanent ban.

I know from experience that they usually handle most situations like being "banned" on a case by case basis. Meaning that it can depend on why you were banned, and if you were truly "banned" or just put on a restriction, which could be 30-90 days possibly.
