Listen no u dont have to "go through" their program... As. Soon as u can, go behind them. And apply using either Family gateway or under one roof...in less than 4 months u will be moved in... Assuming u have kids... If not then it'll take allot longer.
Dallas life an other shelters use city of Dallas housing and other means to help their residents get housing after being in their programs. You apply for this housing during the Dallas LIFe program because the city waiting list is 10-12 months for everyone. This is a tough issue because the city housing is limited but Dallas LIFE is currently looking for other ways to provide housing faster as well so that we do not have to only go through the city but can help people find housing faster. People with kids, disabilities, veterans, etc might be eligible faster through this program, so getting to Dallas LIFE and talking to them is the best way to figure it out.
I was at dlf for 8 months & The Bridge for 7 months. I got more & much better help from the Bridge & Metro Care. They're rhe ones that got me into housing with Shelter Care Plus. I've been in SCP for 8 yrs & in my 3rd apt. The one I'm in now is on the 7th floor of an 8 floor high rise close to Love Field. If you're at DLF, whether you're in their program or not, go to the Bridge & get a care manager or one of the other places Pedro. Feliciano suggested.
