There is only One Art Institute of Chicago. A treasure for the world. I've seen museums from the Met to the Louvre and this museum is definitely world Class.
Ina Barcelona
I could spend hours in this museum admiring the works of so many famous artists as well as the exquisite souvenirs!!
Sarah Summerhill
Such great art! The curation and lighting was a little iffy in places but understandable as they’re often switching out shows. And who even cares when you’re standing in front of Van Gogh, Picasso, Rodin, some of the greatest art I’ve ever seen. Thankful for this experience—our trip would not have been complete without it. Check out their free entry for WIC/EBT holders!
Enrique Mayen
I’ve got the membership and it is worth it. Amazing place and the staff was so helpful. I highly recommend this place.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Also do not use flash. They will come after you for that.
Hi, visitors 65 and up enjoy senior admission at the Art Institute. You can learn more about admission rates, including discounted admission for Illinois and Chicago residents, on our website under “Admission Information.” Thanks!
Yes but be advised that there are lots of people and bulky luggage will be tough to lug around...
Yes! Strollers allowed too. Kids are free
Asking always helps.
Thank God for the rest stops to sit and take in all the Amazing Art from the institute. G.F.C. GRAND FAMILY CIRCLE
It's open all weekdays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, you pay lower fares.
Now on view in Prints and Drawings, "Everyone’s Art Gallery: Posters of the London Underground" closes on September 5. "Rubens, Rembrandt, and Drawing in the Golden Age" will be opening in its place on September 28.
Excuse me, Mr. Enke, I can help you, I don't know, but thanks for your communication, you can explain me with more than Tayes Kesloke, you need me to help you
I saw a photography exhibit, there was no extra price!
$25 General admission $22 for Illinois residents $20 for Chicago residents
Yes, the Art Institute is open on July 4th this year. The only holidays it closes are Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
more than adequate number of volunteer staff available for questions and directions, with a range of knowledge and experience but all well trained, patient and courteous.
Normally there is a coat check but due to the pandemic, sadly the answer is no.
Yes, at least with current hours. The Art Institute opens for members at 10am and the general public at 11am.
Yep, it includes both. There's a digital line that you have to wait in to get in, but it's free with admission
I think the reciprocity is only at museums in the U.S
Ther is a line but you won't have to wait for more than 5 minutes. And is free if you are from Chicago.
Yes it is open from 10:30 to 5
The two bronze lions that flank the Michigan Avenue entrance were made for the Art Institute’s opening at its current location in 1893. They were modeled by Edward Kemeys, an essentially self-taught artist and the nation’s first great animalier (sculptor of animals). Each lion weighs more than two tons, cast by the American Bronze Founding Company.
“Manet and Modern Beauty” runs from May 26 through September 8, 2019. It is the first Art Institute exhibition devoted exclusively to Édouard Manet in over 50 years. Find more information on our website under Upcoming Exhibitions.
I would suggest going and asking a thrift store and more including antiques because usually when things come in they will be damaged and if repairable they will fix it. Or u can Google which is always a big help.
Yes there are works by the peoples of Malawi in the museum's permanent collection. You can find more info in the Collection pages of our website. Thanks!
Hi, yes your university ID is all you should need for student-priced admission. Enjoy your visit!
$19 but the month of February is free to Illinois residents
Hi Nayeli, almost everything on view in the museum is included in your general admission ticket. We do sometimes have major special exhibitions which require an additional ticket of $7. "John Singer Sargent and Chicago's Gilded Age"—closing this Sunday—is the only exhibition currently on view that requires a special exhibition ticket. Thanks and enjoy your visit.
Hi, the Art Institute offers valet service at the Modern Wing entrance during museum hours. There are are also several public garages nearby, including the Millennium Park Garage and Millennium Lakeside Garage as well as the North and South Grant Park Garages. You can find more information on our website under “Parking.” Thank you!
Hi, yes you can find gluten-free dining options throughout the museum's restaurants and cafés. Additionally our chefs are available at every station to offer you guidance regarding food allergy or dietary restrictions. Thanks for reaching out. Enjoy your visit.
Member Previews for "John Singer Sargent and Chicago's Gilded Age" start today and run through Saturday, June 30. The exhibition opens to the public on Sunday, July 1. Thanks.
Hi there, here’s a list of some of the special exhibitions currently on view at the Art Institute: “Charles White: A Retrospective” /// “Georg Jensen: Scandinavian Design for Living” /// “Flesh: Ivan Albright at the Art Institute of Chicago” /// “Never a Lovely So Real: Photography and Film in Chicago, 1950–1980” /// “Helen Frankenthaler Prints: The Romance of a New Medium” /// “Volta Photo: Starring Sanlé Sory and the People of Bobo-Dioulasso in the Small but Musically Mighty Country of Burkina Faso” /// “Judy Ledgerwood: Chromatic Patterns for the Art Institute of Chicago” /// “Music and Movement: Rhythm in Textile Design” /// “Max Lamb: Exercises in Seating” /// “Wang Dongling” And more! Hope you can stop by soon. You'll find more information on our website under “Current Exhibitions.” Thanks!
Hi Mary, we're happy to report that an Android version of the app is currently in development and should be available by the end of the year. Sorry for the inconvenience at the moment, but we hope you'll download the app when it's up soon. Audio tours are also available on-site at the museum for current exhibitions like "Never a Lovely So Real" with admission tickets or at the audio guide counter at either entrance. Thanks!
Hi Ellen, there are currently 8 paintings by Van Gogh on view at the Art Institute. Thanks! Cathy, we have over 100 photographs by Ansel Adams in the collection. Unfortunately, photographs are more delicate and can only be displayed for short periods of time. There are no Adams works currently on view, but we'll be sure to announce when they're in the galleries on our social media channels. Thank you.
Hi yes, your admission ticket is good throughout the day. Feel free to come and go as you like!
I am sure about that, the regular annual membership costs $110 but it allows you to bring a guest for free and you get 10 per cent off in the gift shop
Yes. They just can't check in food.
Yes. Tickets are roughly $25 per adult. Not sure child prices, but they should be on the website
I am not sure. But every Thursday from 5 to 8 it is free for Illinois residents.
Lol, I don't think you will see EVERYTHING in one visit. And if you try, you will not enjoy much. Take you time, and take it in. It's a special place, and it's worth your time. I would recommend that to go to their site and plan out a few exhibit to see. But you WILL get side tracked!
Not sure, better check the website. The pandemic is messing with everything.
EXHIBITION Naughty Nymphs in the Courtyard of the Favorites Apr 23, 2022 | 11:00–2:00 and 3:00–5:00 EXHIBITION Mel Bochner Drawings: A Retrospective Apr 23–Aug 22, 2022
Also, don't forget you need to be vaccinated or tested for COVID-19
I live in Oregon & have run into the same calendar snags...it seems Covid emphasized this disappointment. Decades ago I become a National member...which I am gratefully able to pull off. This does not answer your question BUT allowed me to hook up w/the AIC's online classes. There are many other art museums Downtown..not the wide variety but possibly user friendly. This summer I went out to Glen Ellen & THOROUGHLY enjoyed the Frida Kahlo "Timeless" event. If you do enjoy wild life.. check out the Aquarium...those penguins are "arty" little guys/gals! They might alter your AIC disappointment w/ laughs that even Degas or Georgia O'Keefe can't inspire! There's always Millennium Park...and rent some ice skates....the Maggie Daley Skate Loop does the heart good! SALUD IN 2022!
Not yet but I think it would be required starting next week
I'm guessing the same way you would with a ticket. They just scan a bar code that is essentially a bunch of numbers. Calling first wouldn't hurt either.
It depends on your membership level, but if you are an Ambassador or above there are several other art museums you can visit. The full list is on their website under FAQ!
Check online hats a r t c i. Edu / careers / internships I don't know if there will be any for the fall or winter but this is where you should start. Good luck and God bless you
A model is. But the original statue is in Paris.
To restrict more people in a closed space probably. People will spend more time sitting and chatting at a restaurant which will eventually lead to increase in number of people waiting outside to access it. People generally enter the gift shop and leave quickly. Maybe this is the reason
According to the website, kids 13 and under are free, and 14-17yos are $19 (adults are $25). The museum is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The Van Gogh immersive experience is not at the Art Institute. And as far as I know they are not associated, so yes you do need separate tickets to the Art Institute.
The gardens aren't open currently.
? Your question is not understood
No
Show em your shopping cart.
Suggest that question is better directed to the institution as conditions related to the pandemic are fluid
11 to 6
From my recent trip we purchased tickets in advance and we're given a start time and grace period. I believe this is to limit the number of guests at any one time. Side note, there were no concessions and food/drink was limited to the basement near bathrooms.
Free admission ended today it went on for awhile.
To expand a bit, you (as a member) don't need to reserve a time in advance for special exhibits, but they "limited attendees, timed entry". Once you get there you have to go to the desk at the entrance to the exhibit and register. They will give you an approximate entry time and take your phone number. You will get a text when you can actually enter.
No
That's a great question! I'd love to know this as well
11-6pm every day except Tuesday and Wednesday. They are only allowed a certain capacity right now. You should get tickets online in advance. The Bisa Butler and Monet exhibits are really great!
Searching through the art listed on display the artist Jack Lillis is not listed. So I don't believe you'd see his work there unless it came as an exhibition.
Look it up....AIC.org website.
Museum closed due to Covid. Get passes online for future visit.
Call them to revise
If you're referring to the Thrones room. It's located on the Second Floor and it's open
Definitely... You'd need an entrance ticket that you'd purchase in advance on line.. 90% certain
Yes. Entry to Monet will be included in your membership for you and your guest.
Me thinks not... He liked metal
Not sure due to the delay in opening. It's a great exhibit, highly recommend going!
Yes, free admission.
We had to reserve and buy online.

Here we see clearly an image where if we analyze it carefully and deeply, we can see that from the different points of discrepancy and comparison we can reach the central idea that moves away from the main argument, from which we conclude that this comment does not it makes any sense But maybe it's not important for many of you and it gets lost among the other comments, most will not read it, maybe it will be criticized and eventually be forgotten, but anyway, I just wanted to tell you that I sell empanadas hahaha like if you read until the final haha
Hi, the exhibition is now open and runs through June 9. Learn more on our website under “Rembrandt Portraits.”
