The BEST time!! I highly recommend this place. It was my daughter's favorite place on our trip to STL.
Bella Chernov
This was one of the most fun places I've ever gone. You should definitely visit, especially if you have kids.
Katie De La Fuente
Coolest place ever !
Christopher Gilbert
Really didn't even know what was happening my entire time here, it's not so much a museum as it is an interactive art exhibit for children. It smells like a wet hockey bag, and I'm sure there are multiple diseases on every surface, but it was interesting for sure.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
There was a face painter who charged $5. The circus performer and an escape artist passed the hat (their performance was worth tipping). Coat check is $1. Snow flake lady will laminate for $1 (worth it).
Why not? That's a fun idea. I've seen multiple adults climbing around in there. Go ahead and bring out your inner child.
We took our 2 year old and it was difficult to keep up with him in all the tight spaces. I would suggest The Magic House instead. Our little guy LOVED IT!
Yes, they do have elevators.
As others have mentioned yes you can buy food inside. They have a cafe on the second floor can be seen from the entrance when you walk in and then they have various concession stand / bars throughout the building. All of which sell at least drinks and snacks. Alcoholic beverages are sold at select onea.
Honestly as someone else pointed out parts of it is. There are elevators but 90% of it is not. Think giant hamster cage with tunnels.. It's great for kids but strollers and wheel chairs can access parts to watch but that doesn't mean you'll see where they come out at.
Yes. As long as nobody cares about getting dirty or sweaty this place is amazing, also it is worth noting that the word "museum" is used here in the loosest possible way. The best description would be amazing playground on crack flavored steroids.
Every day open 9am-5pm & Fri & Sat: 9am- midnight
You can pay at the door.
I'm 45 and I had a blast with my 15 year old and 19year old. If you like industrial art and dr. Seuss then you'll love it
The St. Louis Zoo is free, and phenomenal!
14 buck per person for admission, $10 on site parking or park nearby for less.
Open year-round. Not sure about Christmas day itself, but will be open the week of Christmas
Wednesday or Thursday probably. We went on a Wednesday and there was very little crowd.
Yes. The rioters/protesters are on a day by day basis, but the City Museum has been ok in the past. They are stirring up trouble in different areas each day.
It's $12 for everyone 3 and up, plus $5 for rooftop access. We were just there Thursday. But if you get a group of 15 together, it's less than $9 each.
No
When I visit the city museum (a very recent as of making this comment) there has only been 1 place that is blocked off being the roof area (I think this is closed for the whole winter because of cold weather)
When I went there a couple weeks ago, they were only accepting cards.
Yes ! Everything is very kid friendly. My 3 year old was not tall enough to go on the slides but everything else was just fine. Great place for kids to wear themselves out 🙂
I think some of the area hotels might offer package deals.
You are correct Mr. Prater, everything in the museum is recycled product pulled from around the city, and even the the Miss river. If you actually stop and take a moment to read some of the plaques you would see how much history is actually within the museum. Nater Hater! 🌝😉
If you have a child enough to go thru tunnels you and the baby could stroll around while older child is playing if only the baby I wouldn't spend the money
There is still construction, but yet plenty to do. I think you'll get your money's worth!
I stayed at the Hilton at the Ballpark which was nice. About 1 mile away. Looks like there are a few hotels in walking distance including a couple of Marriotts.
Yes, normal hours.
From the website: GENERAL Children 2 and under admitted free. $14.00 (plus tax)ages 3 years and up or $12.00 (plus tax)after 5pm Fri-Sat ROOF Roof is available only with general admission and weather permitting. +$5.00 (plus tax) (It is however closed November through May, unless otherwise noted.)
magis spun chairs
About $15 per person. https://www.citymuseum.org/tickets/
According to their website: "Children 2 and under admitted free. $14.00 (plus tax)ages 3 years and up or $12.00 (plus tax)after 5pm."
Yes, there are plenty of places to sit. We were there last weekend for 7 hrs and we needed to sit a lot :-) However, there aren't many places where you can watch the kids while sitting. There is a lot of movement between rooms and floors. If you need to keep an eye on younger kids, you'll be moving around a lot.
Oh my, yes! Make sure to wear comfortable clothes to crawl and climb in. Also, they stay open till midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. Last I saw there were three bars in the building and it became an adult playground when all the kids had been taken home.
Tickets were $14 per person + $5 for "roof access". We didn't ride the ferris wheel. If you buy them on line, child tickets are a couple dollars less.
Yes! This is a GREAT place for rainy days! There are two areas: a VERY cool area outside called "Monstrosity" and the area on the roof - those won't be accessible in the rain, but there is still PLENTY to do, and you'll want to go back when it's not raining. Yes, take your camera!! It's beautiful, fun, and creative; you'll want to at least try to capture some of that. Have fun! It's a great experience!!
Day Time Admission: $16.61 Valid from 9am to 5pm. Sales Tax is included. Day Time Admission with Roof Access: $22.99 Valid from 9am to 5pm. Sales tax is included. Night Time Admission (Weekend): $14.41 Valid from 5pm to Midnight. Sales Tax is included. Night Time with Roof Access (Weekend): $19.90 Valid from 5pm to Midnight. Sales Tax is included in ticket price.
Actually, tickets are $14 for access to the Museum(4 floors, 4 food places & 2 bars) If you want access on the rooftop it's an extra $7. The rooftop includes a another food place and a bar.
Almost impossible to sell out. The place is so large there will always be a lonely spot somewhere, and parking is offered in numerous locations for blocks around.
It's great for young kids! There's actually a specific section for kids under 6 near the arts and crafts area so if you're nervous about it, you can stay there.
It says no food or drink but no, they do not search you. Also, you can leave and come back same day if you want to go out to the car.
No that area is not ment for actual skating
There are a lot of crawling and climbing. Long panties what we wear. Some people wear knee pads. Comfortable sneakers definitely is needed. Then, clothes is something that you don't worry to get dirty. My son sweats a lot after excise, so I always prepare another set of outfit to change when we leave.
$13 for adults and $10 for children. To avoid lines I recommend purchasing tickets online through the City Museum website. The restaurant inside City Museum serves pizza and hot dogs. The food is reasonably priced, tastes great, and served quickly. The kids were able to eat and go back to playing. I recommend planning at least one day to explore this wonderful place!
Yes . We booked for 100 people with dinner and drinks
i
No its the same
Absolutely! Just be ready to crawl around and get a little messy.
I do not believe you can bring your own food but they do have an eatery.
$16/person. 2 and under are free. There are also add-ons for other things if you'd like. https://www.citymuseum.org/buy-tickets/single-day-tickets/2021-single-day-tickets/
Right now they are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10-5. I got my tickets online and made it so much easier to get in so I didn't have to wait in line.
No pets
visit the website for the hours and dates.
For anyone three and up it is a $16 entrance fee that is valid for an entire day.
Yes... Its 16.00 for adults and 5.00 additional for roof top.
Good luck.
I don't believe so but check their website.
Park in a lot. $10, usually an attendant there. Lot of break-ins. Parking in street increases chances. There is covered garage right next to it. Pro tip pay the $$$.
I don't think they have an annual but 14 bucks per visit
The rooftop access is a whole lot, more than I can explain. So go to the city museums website and click the drone link. It will be able to show you everything that goes on. It's amazing tho so go check it out
$16 and an extra $5 to go to rooftop (which is worth the extra $5)
According to the website, they are closed on Mondays. Labour Day is Monday so I assume they are closed but it would be safer to call and ask.
Yeah, downtown has deals and I'd suggest a hotel deal finding app, just used it in Denver and got a few hotel deals for people cancelling for 80 at the marriot and things of that nature. Always look for deals
We went there early for a rooftop party ,and it was free ,about 75 spaces or more ,up front ,
No not at all. It's barely adult friendly but perfect for very mobile little children.
It was 16 for general admin and if u want to go rooftop I think it was 21. Once you are in , all floors and the outside is included. There is food and drinks for purchase as well.
You'll definitely be miserable if you don't have closed toes shoes. Make sure they're tied or velcro and snug. Anything else, you'll be backtracking your steps to recover the shoes.
No there is not, but there is street parking and a parking lot next to the museum for you to pay to use.
It's also surrounded by ample street/meter parking that usually has plenty of open spots. Occasionally you might have to walk a block or two, but it beats paying to park in a lot imo.
$16.00 plus tax, per person ages 3 and up With roof top access is $21.00 plus tax, per person ages 3 and up.
Parking is usually $10.00 but you'll want an outside lot. The Museum lot is a tight fit for regular cars.
I really don't know about that. I do know that it's and awesome place to see even if they don't have the discount
There should be if there's not !
I was there 730pm-10pm last week and there were still plenty of younger kids. However, the later it gets the older the population becomes.
On their website it only says they are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter
Steak and Shake isn't far and it's on the way to Grant's Farm a free zo with a great atmosphere.
Yes, ferris wheel,is included on rooftop admission.
The main museum itself is over 4 stories tall, and everything inside is uniquely built from recycled building materials, and other objects the owners have accumulated over the years. There are numerous tunnels, crawl spaces, and tiny nooks and crannies to explore. There are also a number of slides throughout the building ranging from 1 story, all the way up to 10 story. You can also pay for roof access which is $19 plus tax, where there is a working Ferris wheel on top of the roof. If you don't like exploring dark and tight spaces, or if you're not a thrill seeker, this might not be the place for you. But if you do like that kind of thing, then dive in and have fun
It's $16 per person 3 and up. Under 2 is free. $21 per person if you want to go to the roof top but we spent 5 hours there and still didn't see all of the inside!
It's not accessible through out the whole museum, but there are elevators in some areas of the museum
Yes. But it costs $8
I believe they usually offer free admission to veterans and active duty on Veterans Day, but dont think there's a discount on other days.
No
It is $15 for a day pass, but in the evening the price is $13. Rooftop access is an extra $5. Check the website for more details.
I was there earlier this week and nothing outside was open due to the rain.
It doesn't finish; unfortunately, the artist, Bob Cassily passed away in an accident some years ago. You can visit the website for more information on Bob's work, which is continued to be carried out by a group of artists, following many of Bob's original plans.
They have been open for 22 years, but they are always changing and adding new things.
Yes. You can bring your lunch. There are seats around the museum where you can sit and eat. Leave it in your vehicle until you are ready to eat. Keep yor hands free for exploring. Your wristband allows you to come and go as many times as you would like. If you leave the parking lot with your vehicle, it will cost you $10.00 to get back in.
Friday and Saturday after 17:00 (5pm) is $13. All other times are $15. I was just there this most recent Saturday. (Mar 2019)
It is Standard size. The roof doesn't open until May. There is no access to the bus until then
No
The City museum is free for veterans on Veterans Day, but I don't think they have a veterans discount in general.
That is correct!
It's 15 dollars for anyone 3 and up and parking is $10 per vehicle
both, there is an indoor and outdoor section. Both are open
It is reasonably priced, and a great place for kids and young adults/adults who like to climb and crawl, but definitely not for folks with limited mobility, joint or back problems, or people in wheelchairs. LOTS of stairs! Another drawback is you pay even if you don't play. Cool building and concept, though.
Yes they do. It requires a group of 15 or more. Walk in group rate is $10+tax (10.96) per person
$12.00 but that doesn't include the rooftop access. The cost is so worth it.
Your group must be accompanies by a legal adult. Age 18 and over after 9pm.
Interesting question. Yes there are some tight spots for adults as it is designed for kids and teens. However that are some really cool things for adults that aren't tight. I will say that you want to go on a non raining day so you can see the rooftop. There are also a lot of stairs.
I went there about a month ago. I was talking to the staff member and they said that the roof is closed from mid November to sometime in March due to the temperature difference.
The current prices are on their website - you can buy tickets online if you prefer
*they
Yes , except certain holidays . Check website for updates.
Yes, there is a coat check desk that can hold onto your luggage.
Worth every penny. Rent the knee pads if you plan to explore the caves and other sculptures.
Actually we do have a large Louis Sullivan collection. Including the cornice from the Chicago Stock Exchange. SIUE also have a great Sullivan collection.
No its $14 per person and $5 per person fir the roof no matter the age
They can host parties you can rent out sections or the entire museum if you want. I'm not sure if prices have gone up since the last time I did but last I checked they were below 5000
Yes. There is more information on groups and events on their website. Please visit http://www.citymuseum.org/
It sure is!! Totally fun for all ages. Im 31 and just went a few montgs back and had a blast
$14.00 (plus tax)ages 3 years and up or $12.00 (plus tax)after 5pm Fri & Sat Kids under 2 are free I thi k the roof is an extra $5 and parking is $10 cash
I think it's like $14 for an adult but it's so well worth it
$12 General admission I think like $5extra for rooftop access. Unless they changed it
FYI, although there is elevator access, you can easily spend 5-10 min waiting, especially as you start going up to different floors.
Yes you can accompany your younger child any where. There is areas for smaller kids to enjoy with out all the big kids being in the way.
I was there two days ago. $14 for general admission, additional $5 for roof access.
I'm not sure, but whatever we paid was so worth it. It was just so amazing.
Yes it does. It's on the 4th floor I think. It's not just scrap metal BTW it's amazing for all ages. There is a whole cave system. What looks like tree house like play stuff. A small child area. A small circus like arena Many many many slides. Rope swings. Crawling mazes. A small insect exhibit. The Louis Sullivan exhibit. And so much more. That's just in the building. There is also a play area outside and if you pay a little more you get roof access. There you can ride a ferris wheel and slide down more slides as well as climb in a bus that's hanging over the side of the building. There more there as well. My family was there 5 hours and still could have spent another 5 playing and having fun.
You can keep a cooler in your car and come and go as you please since you have a wrist band
They are open Labor Day weekend it closed on Labor Day and they are regular hours 11 to 5
Street parking is meters. We parked 2 blocks away and felt safe but it was during daylight hours. As stated above, they do offer parking right across the street for $10.00.
It's a giant jungle gym for children and adults! There are multiple levels. The roof top has a giant slide and a bus tipping over the edge. It's a giant fun house.
The rooftop is closed in the fall winter seasons unless the weather permits such
No, and we were pleasantly surprised that even my 6ft, 290lb husband was able to fit in and climb nearly just as much as my 15 yr old.
I thought that the inside is very amazing but the outside is also very nice
For Friday and Saturday after five it's $12. Roof access is still $5. Regular pricing is $14.
Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a adult 18 or older, but that is the policy throughout the City Museum. As long as there is adult supervision, there is no age limit to be on the roof.
Five dollars extra.
Yes! Assuming the kid likes to play hide-and-seek, crawl through tunnels, explore, etc. Adults can play too, but you might want to bring knee pads if you have them.
They can, but I would not suggest standard flip flops due to the climbing. Teva type sandels would work better.
General admission is 13 to $15 plus $5 if you want to go on the roof. Parking is $10 if you get the right lot but if you end up in one of the Lots were guys are flagging you down probably you're looking at $15 for parking
$14 general admission, additional $5 to add optional rooftop admission (very fun). Admission drops $2 from 5 pm to midnight.
Yea. Its 10 dollars to park right in front which is what I recommend.
Outside food and drinks are not permitted. It's on their website.
No, you can not. But they have reasonable hours and stay open pretty late!
It was $12 for the museum. Additional $5 for the rooftop access, and trust me you want to do the rooftop. For me and my 2 children the total was about $55 after tax. Going on a friday or Saturday is best because they are open til midnight and the rooftop and skyline are beautiful after the sun sets.
$12 for adults roof top access is extra. For a family of 4 with roof top access expect to spend about $80 with tax included.
I'm sure its probably owned by the city..... Maybe... not sure
Google is your friend😉 Prices are listed on the website
Yes. Adults and kids price
Wear smooth pants like yoga or old school jogging pants. The smoother pants go down the slides way better!! Or take a wind breaker and sit on it. You'll thank me later.
Yes Katy , There is something for everyone young and old
$14 ages 2 and up, free if under 2. Extra $5 gets you rooftop access.
More so than shorts I would recommend knee pads. My kids were shorts and it didn't slow them down, but it was our first time there with no idea what we were walking into. Headlamp and knee pads!
Only the roof and outdoor area but there still is pleanty of things to do inside.
$14 plus $5 if you want to go up to the rooftop, which I would definitely recommend!
It is so loud, protect baby's hearing. Somebody is not going to do all the fun things in there, because the baby cannot go in the tunnels, climb the curved paths etc
9 to 5
ADMISSION GENERAL Children 2 and under admitted free. $14.00 (plus tax)ages 3 years and up or $12.00 (plus tax)after 5pm Fri & Sat ROOF Roof is available only with general admission and weather permitting. +$5.00 (plus tax) (It is however closed November through May, unless otherwise noted.) (The museum currently only accepts cash, visa, mastercard and discover.)
There's a small parking area there but plenty of parking in the area. I don't think there's anywhere to check strollers.
We saw a bunch of coolers coming in when we were there, several people were eating out of their cars in the parking lot. As long as you get the wristband you can come out and go back in.
As long as physically possible!!! It's amazing
Great date night ♡♡♡
Depending on how extreme you're going to get climbing different objects and what not. Bring a pair of knee pads or you can purchase them in the gift shop. Your knees and depending on if you're wearing shorts or pants. Don't wear you Sunday best unless you just plan on observing and missing out on the best part.
If im not mistaking roof top os close but it's $14 per adult for entrance. However good luck on food. Last week I was there it was 20 minutes for fries. Its unlimited entrance into the museum with the wristbands, you can always leave and get outside food and ckme back to the museum.
a good 4-5 hours.
Food is reasonably prices though. Not like normal attraction food prices...
The museum is onlyn4 floors, but there are 10 floors of indoor tunnels.
It is $14 before 5 pm after 5 pm it is $12 ages 3 to adult. Under 3 is free.
I saw big people getting through the tunnels
Children under 3 yrs. old are free, 3 and over pay an admission of $12. So the admission fee is the same for everyone over 3 yrs. old. Once in the museum there are things for children of all ages. Even a whole section for toddlers/preK to climb & play. Hope that helps!
There are tons of tunnels and spaces to crawl through, some similar to hamster tubes I suppose. They are metal though, not what comes to mind when I think of hamster tubes. There is another area inside that has something like a hamster wheel, too.
I agree with everyone. They woukd love it,but it might be stressful keeping an eye on them.
It all depends on how far you want to walk. There aren't hotels nextdoor. I've been very satisfied with the Drury at the convention center, but haven't walked. This hotel does have a small parking fee but providing supper and drinks more than makes up for it.
Without talking to the museum people, I'd say probably not. I know many government places are taking a long holiday.
Yes, as everyone said you can't cover your face. I wouldn't wear anything that could get tangled or cause you to slip. There's climbing and sliding obstacles.
You can use them but you can't get the full experience to all the facets of the museum.
Only if you want to participate. No need to do so and the kids are well supervised. You're not expected to "participate". Sit back, enjoy and watch the kids go wild.
Not that I know of.
If you have a child who needs a nap, go when they first open, until they get tired, thats what we had to do. We spent 3 and half hours there, and that wasn't near enough time!!
