My favorite beach spot in the area. Restrooms are locked around 5 or 6, showers are available 24 hours. Fires permitted. Great place to build sand castles, roast smores, have a picnic.

Very nice beach park! A row of covered picnic tables line the edge of the parking area. The beach is clean and uncrowded. Favorite thing? The yarn-bombed parking posts!

All sites are level with full hookups. Great location with beach and jetty area minutes away. Also near to restaurants, bait and tackle stores, and other retailers. But bring your own shade. Current cost ($30) ok for the location, but rumored to go up after restrooms and showers are completed.

My family and I had a great time out here. The sun is the 🌞 so don't forget an overhead canopy top or sunscreen. The beach was pretty clean and looked great (for a Texas beach) and the trash was being maintained, nothing spilling over etc. We came back at night to spot small crabs, the kids loved it.

I just called IB Magee camping won't be open for at least another year. Beach camping permits available at some local stores $12 for the yearly pass
Do not call the Chamber They will lead you astray. The last time that I spoke with them they gauranteed me the park was open to camping and RV I then brought my 30 foot Montana across the ferry only to find out they were wrong. The Chamber is unreliable and clueless!
No the campground is closed but beach camping is allowed
Yes you may camp on the beach. The cost is free. The park building that they would charge it's called IB Magee Park. The park itself is currently not in operation however this will not stop you from camping on the beach. You are allowed to camp anywhere on the beach except for IB Magee Park which in comparison is a very small piece of land Here is some infomation on "parking on the beach" https://www.cityofportaransas.org/beach_permits.cfm The Beach Parking Permits had slipped my mind. I do apologize.
Any current news... anything pertaining to July or early August beach camping’s availability?
IB Magee Park is still Recovering from Hurricane Harvey, BUT... You can Tent Camp out on the Beach. Please what for signs on Camping.
You just have to get a beach pass at convenience store. The stay is free. Unless you want to stay at the campgrounds
Yes on the pets and yes for camping
Yes its open, but i dont think you would want to stay overnight. Go over the ferry and pitch your tent over there
Their are restrooms along the beach. There are outdoor showers as well, the further you travel down the beach there will be no restrooms available. IBMagee Park in closed and Under Recovery.
I paid 39.00 night 50a full hookup. Bathrooms and laundry facility was closed.
No but it's totally reasonable plus camp fires on the beach. It's like $12 bucks for a parking permit etc....cheap
There are no trees. There is part of the beach you have to pay to park but most of the beach is free to park
Not sure, we didn't make any we just went out there
Yes. Anywhere that it doesn't say daytime use only. And yes you can stay for a few nights if you wish
I just booked a month starting February 2021.. Starting March they will got back to the 14 day rule. They are full hook ups
Yes they are. I don't think they are allowing overnight camping on beach
No...IB Magee RV park is for people who are lodging their in their RVs. There is free access to the beach on the road to the park. Your beach pass will give you permission to drive on the beach where there are signs for beach access.Fishing license is separate from beach access pass. Be aware the game warden's are watching. Don't chance fishing without the right pass.
Yes you can barbecue. The beach is currently very soggy. The tides are coming in extremely high. It's a drive, camp, barbecue on the beach at your own risk situation currently. Basically just pay attention to where you're going and keep your eyes on the tide.
I think you cam call city hall theu will point u where to go
Normally you can!, however they have not worked on it much since Harvey. And the last time we were down there we were told the Corps of Engineers are the ones overseen the progress of the park! And it was put on hold. Which is very unfortunate to me because we have visited there often and love it but Harvey really leveled it which is so unfortunate!
We were there late in May, although this place is awesome as far as we could see on that day it is nowhere near being repaired oh, and it doesn't look like it'll be open anytime soon! As far as the beach in front of it they are not allowing overnight camping at that time. If you go up a little ways marker 19 on you can camp on the beach, they have showers which are outside oh, and they have porta potties! I know there's a lot of people who do not like them however they clean them every day and they're not bad at all!
The route with the ferry cuts time by an hour to Port A. But for that kind of reason, there is a route around that's an hour all road and sights. Safe trip.
https://www.cityofportaransas.org/port_aransas_beach.cfm As long as you park between the jetty and the pier, the answer is no. You won't even need a parking permit.
Yes. You Just have to buy a beach parking permit. I believe it's $12
Yes. All u need is a beach permit it's about $12.00 at stripes And u can stay where it's permitted and build small camp fires
If you are self-contained, you can pull your camper right onto the beach, born and I raised and lived in Colorado for 58 years. I was there 3 weeks ago, there are miles of beach you can pull up and park on beginning at port aransas. Enjoy
Thanks I went this weekend doesn't look like the main building at in will be open again been a while and no change or look like any work has even been attempted..restrooms are open but sand is still about 4 feet down from jetties and the water inlet right at the jetties is still filling with the tide and is about 3 feet deep
Yes
Confused???? What is it that you want to know?
Yes
Great question! I was recently in the vancinity & they were still putting the office together! I was there November 2018
You will have to head south from keepers pier. There are signes posted on where permits are required, some areas are "free". The permits are cheap and are good for a year. The beach camping is very primitive, no designated spots no reservations. There are sporadic showers and bathrooms along the beach. Some showers require quarters for hot water. Hope this helps!
It's seems like the leash law is not enforced strictly. I had two dogs on the beach with no leashes, but I was not in a crowded area. Probably 150 feet from the nearest other car.
Get water before getting on the island because its cheaper that way
You can camp to the left side of the beach not the right. It will Have a sign telling you where to go. You have to have a sticker permit to be on the beach at all. It cost 12 dollars and can get it at the beach or anywhere on the island like a gas station. Its 12 dollars for a beach pass for your vehicle for the whole year.
2018/☑️
I saw people camping on the beach 👴 . Some with camping trailers
No. Plenty of golf cart rental places though. I recommend "Port-A-Beach Buggies". Awesome owner.
Did not look open in feb can check w port a chamber for more info
Yes
I called during business hours and there was no answer.
