I went in to request a new social security card due to a name change, last month. I was actually able to get in and out really quick. However, they said I should receive my new card within two weeks, it’s been almost exactly a month since I’ve applied and I have not received it. The paper they gave me while I was there says to call them if you don’t receive it within the two weeks. But, I call and every-time I’m on hold for an hour with no answer. Who has the time to spend on hold to not even get to talk to anyone. I’ve called the 1-800 number but they gave me the number to the McKeesport office since they’re the ones with the information I need I guess, but they don’t answer anyways.

I’m confused why the Social Security office has this number on here and it does not work whatsoever and then on top of that I was just on the phone for 21 minutes on hold I’m an 18-year-old who is trying to start working and I cannot do that because I do not have a Social Security card I sent an application in to get a replacement card it’s already been three weeks this is frustrating😠

Terrible Experience with the McKeesport Office. CALL ANOTHER ONE or LOOK ON THE WEBSITE!!! Since you still can't physically go in to the SSA offices, I called my nearest Office to get further instruction on a SSN Name Change (what other documents were needed for proof). She began to explain the process of downloading the application, I told her I already had it and she very rudely said 'You could have led with that'. I profusely apologized but ... it was all downhill from there. To the point that she actually provided INCORRECT information, stating that a driver's license couldn't be used because it was not 'original' and that old ORIGINAL medical or school records would be necessary and that she could send a list of what documents were necessary. When I questioned why OLD school/medical records would be needed, she again, was rude and stated 'it's the law, I can send you that too.' When she asked for the mailing address instead of an email, I got worried. Banking can't be done with the wrong name and the name can't be changed at the Bank until the SSN is changed. If this is all done by USPS, it was going to a very, very long time. I asked if there was any way to come in and get this done quickly. No. I asked if I could use FedEx/Overnight. No. After that horrible experience, I got on the website and found the documents necessary, none of which were as she described. NONE. The website clearly states that only TWO DOCUMENTS are needed. Driver's License and the Raised Seal Court Order with BOTH names to verify identity. TWO documents that CAN be Overnighted to the SSA. Not old School/Medical records that could take weeks to get. Why did it have to be so hard? If you hate your job, please get a new one instead of your misery making things difficult for other people. I am certain there is someone out there who would be GRATEFUL for your job and do it with JOY.

They no longer printout your SSN. Instead you must wait for your card to arrive in the mail 📬💔
They mail it to you in a couple days.
Yes you can.
In short, it's a program that allows you to try going back to work while protecting your benefits in case it doesn't work out. Specifics differ between SSI & SSDI, and between MediCare and Medical Assistance (Medicaid).
No
Yes, you can make an appointment to discuss the process. FYI: Almost everyone gets turned down initially and it takes over a year from filing an appeal to getting the hearing. You may want to also speak to a disability attorney or two (should be able to get a free consultation) before filing. They get part of your "back check(s)" covering the period from filing to approval as their ONLY payment.
I do PayPal & or Cashapp I hope this info helps you out, it did for me
January check is the December check.
Good luck! Had the same issue. After waiting, I tried to get back in touch with them by calling all day every free moment I had. I finally had to send a letter. It took another week and a half and they mailed me back to say my new card would arrive in about 2 weeks. (Knocking on the door and talking with the security guard did not help either. He just handed me a postage paid envelope.)
You have to bring that and a Bill with your name on it
Your ID and social security number
My understanding is that the W-4 goes to your employer so they can withhold the correct taxes and prepare your year end W-2. As Social Security is not taxable by itself, but only in light of income from employment (W-4 to employer) or self employment (quarterly estimated taxes), I don't see a reason why you would. But I'm no accountant, tax attorney, or anything like that so you might call and ask about your specific situation.
I'm nor sure but they may give it to you while in college and the age of 23
I don't know for sure if you can. You have to go there and see for yourself. I am new at this myself. Sorry
No. I believe there is if u order one online.
Just go to social security with your marriage license and show them so you can change your name on social security card
No only social security card
No, but if you have one you'll probably spend less time in the office, just more time before you go down.
I'm not hurt but I want to retire. What paperwork do I need
