I live by the island and its camping free. Buy car permit! Cheap and easy.
$12 for a parking pass for the year to camp and park on the Beach.
Theres no time limit on the beach lots of people pitch tents and sleep there lots of campers too !
I did not see a posted closing time for the beach when I was there a couple months ago. We stayed for a couple hours after sunset.
