This park is unlike most of the others that we've visited. It's not as majestic as Yosemite or Rocky Mountain but the history for our country is interesting and a unique area with all of the hot springs. We spent half a day here, which seemed just right. We were excited to see the wild armadillo digging around the dirt and enjoyed the brewery.

What a delightful stop! This is worth a stop on your trip or even a destination. If you have 2 hours you can walk bathhouse row and see the gorgeous architecture of Hot springs and even take a soak in a bathhouse! If you have 6 hours then make sure you tour the cultural center, check out some of the shops, and have a meal along the main street. If this is a destination, then make sure you get an appointment to have a full pampering at the spa and bath houses, enjoy an evening walk, and stay the night at any of the gorgeous art deco hotels like The Arlington. You will not be disappointed in Hot Springs.

We stayed at Hotel Hale. It was a pleasant experience. We were able to soak in a hot spring mineral bath while visiting. We were not in the room much as we were walking the town/national park or eating. A lot of history everywhere. But we were welcomed like family at Hotel Hale. Dinner was awesome with Robert taking great care of us too! The food was delicious and each table had fresh flowers. I was a little chilly but I had a sweater and was fine.

Hot Springs National Park is quite the detraction from the typical National Park experience but that's what makes this place very unique. The park centers around the history of Hot Springs, Arkansas and the people that used to common the area such as Al Capone, August Busch, and the Saint Louis Cardinals. There are quite a few hiking trails you can take if you want to get away from the crowds but I highly recommend visiting the old bath houses in the city and taking a trip up to the Hot Springs Mountain Tower. There are beautiful views in every direction and it gives you a good lay of the land from above!

Yes you can. You can put your feet in the pool in Arlington Park, or go to one of the Bath houses to have a bath that is filled using the thermal springs.
Can you actually get IN the water?
There are a few nice RV parks Catherines Landing off Shady Grove, Red Star Hot Springs RV park Hwy 70, East Grand Ave, and nearby K O A
Thanks guys you've been a lot of help I'm already here and I don't know anything about this place. Just trying to get some info about nice quiet place so I can cook with the family 😁
General admission is totally free. Tower 8 bucks per adult. 4 for children.
Because of the natural hot springs that the Native Americans were using for their healing properties. Then it got twisted into the original Las Vegas and became a mobster town. Then religion and retirement took it over.
There is really no place to actually swim in the hot springs there are several bath houses where you can soak and some fountains that you can put your feet in hope this helps
If you prefer crowds and City atmosphere Hot Springs if you prefer peace and quiet Catherine State Park
Ouachita national park off 128 Mountain Pine Rd
There's is a way to either hike by foot or travel by car to the top. Once you reach the top, there's an elevator for people interested in climbing to the top of the tower for a price of $10 per person.
Yes, there are a few "stations"that you can fill up your bottles at. The water is HOT!! It cools off quickly though, and tastes great.
Yes. There are several springs (both hot and cold) that are actually tapped and you can go fill up water jugs and use them for drinking water. They are clean and safe for drinking. I filled up a few of my water bottles at the tapped springs. You can find their locations on google or on the NP website. There are also a few smaller springs around the park to see.
Yes you can find some rares here!! 😀 Finding Dragonite was easy here
Look on the establishments websites. They are clear on what they offer, and when, and by appointment as necessary.
Yes 1832. But it was documented and explored when Desoto was traveling through the area. As well as being settled by native Americans for thousands of years before that. Also it was the first US National Park predating yellowstone by 40 years!
Sunset trail is 13 miles of you're looking for an all day hike. Otherwise, it really depends. There are smaller trails. Check out All trails, it's free, and will give you a really good idea of what your options are.
Yes! But, December is my favorite because they do immaculate Christmas lights. And you can get some exquisite pictures, check the weather & dress accordingly. Historic downtown is SOOO unique. Few spots to check out... Ohio Club The Arlington Hotel & Spa All the Bathhouses' Maxine's West Mountain & there is a plethora of Art/Crystal Galleries
You can park by the visitor center to have access to the whole town!
I'm from the Memphis area. We did not realize that we were so tense with things happening all over Memphis. We pull up to Hot Springs and was very relaxed. All people were very nice. No tension from anyone. Planning to go back really soon!
We walked to a small spring but went to the bath house to soak.
I'm sorry but I was there only one time. It was cold and snowy. I don't know any thing much about it. Good for hiking it seems.
What is the cost to soak your entire body in the healing water
Not really throughout the trails know most of them under the bathhouses but there is a couple that is setting in front of one of the bathhouses and one that sets over close to the Arlington that is by the trails
no there are no camping spots that i saw
Lake Catherine. The Arkansas Power & Light Company constructed Lake Catherine in 1924 by laying Remmel Dam across the Ouachita River just a few miles east of Hot Springs. ... Lake Hamilton. Lake Hamilton borders the southern edge of Hot Springs. ... Lake Ouachita
There is a pay parking lot right behind the main springs area street. They may charge you two spots but it is literally one block away from the main sites.
Is your question real? Theres over a million tourist that visit Hot Springs NATIONAL Park AR each year. Lots of festivals, and places to tour.
The national park service runs a very nice RV campground on the edge of town. I stayed there and would recommend it.
You cant swim in the actual springs but yes the bath houses which is fed by the natural springs
Google puts it at 2 hours, 18 minutes drive time. However, living in Forrest City for 10 years & Hot Springs for 25, I assure you - they are in two different worlds. Delta to mountains, fields to forests, creeks and ponds to rivers and lakes. Forrest City is a great (although very poor) delta town. Hot Springs is purely a retirement/vacation town. Lots to do and see. Well worth a drive.
I don't know of any places where you could go floating and tubing around there. However, nearby is Hot Springs national Park I believe it's on highway 7. It is cool water Creek there and you can go down into it and sit in it and play in it or do whatever. It's not exactly deep or anything I believe it only goes up to the calf.
Open 7 days a week
Wear swimwear but that are both houses where you can have a private bath with clothing optional. Of course, with an extra cost
All the above answers are point on
There are only two bath houses open due to Covid. Qawpa and Buckstaff. And they open at 9 am until 6 pm. You wait in line until there is an opening. So get there early.
Love hot springs everyone there is nice and I love staying in the cabin at the koa
Free at Twin Creek's, Lake Ouachita going towards Mt Ida few miles past Shangri-la. Will be on the right. Not sure how many days.
Ok, thank y'all for answering my question
Visiting bath house row is free. Some spa's offer full service. Great shops downtown.
People die everywhere at some point in time. Hell nobody lives forever. Smh.
Salty dog bo!t rentals, cajuna bay.
Just went there 2 weeks ago. You don't need a pass, but you have to pay to go up in the tower
Sorry can't help you on that question.
Hot Springs National Park is located near downtown. There are trails to hike that go through parts of the forest and one that goes up the hill behind bath house row and another that leads you up to the observatory Tower. You can see the whole valley and the trail up is stunning. Bath house row is located downtown and it's free to enter and explore the amazing history or pay for a bath, which is soooooo worth it. While you are downtown you should go shopping at the amazing assortment of stores and shops. Check out the gangster or wax museum. There are also quite a few restaurants that serve various foods and a few bars as well. A casino and horse track is right down the road. Its definitely worth the visit in my opinion. The drive from any side of Arkansas is beautiful.
No. The spring is really hot. Bath houses do not allow pets. There is a few streams behind bath row but it's too hot for my hand also.
I'm not sure, done remember those details but https://www.nps.gov/hosp/index.htm has great info on the site.
Its 45 minutes to 1hr walking trail the way I went from the lake... i don't know if there is a shorter path... map at visitor center helpful..good luck and enjoy
Many shops on Centr Ave. Have amethyst. Take a walk around downtown. Enjoy
10am mostly till dusk. 6 7pm. The tower you may take the elevator up to an half hour before closing 8pm. Plan on a minimum of an hour to explore all the information on the 2nd. Floor. Enjoy!
There are fountains you can get water from the spring for free if you bring bottles. There is a place next to the big hotel that would be big enough to dip in if it wasn't for the fact it is well over a comfortable temperature to do so.
There are cabins for rent on Lake Hamilton. I do not believe there are any available in the National Park. The National Park has a campground, but not cabins. http://knollwoodlodge.com/cabin2.html http://www.hotsprings.org/places/lodging/category/cabins/
The trails on the mountain are open
Oh no does not it's like botanic garden
Yes. Several! You may want to check with property companies AWA third-party listing sites
No you can not....but there are bath houses on bath house row you can experience the thermal waters
There's 375 days now???
Because that 1st name is an abomination to the people who the land was stolen from, and it is super inappropriate as well as racist.
Its huge
What Linda said. I was told about the same spot.
There's a way to walk back in time, but each of the two bathhouses cost money. The Springs themselves are too hot for human bodies and have been covered.
No you dont need towels for the spas and there is a place to change. Magic Springs has a water park for swimming and bathrooms for changing clothes if needed. You will need your own towels at Magic Springs theme and Water Park. Hope that helps you. Enjoy!
It's 1-2 hours away. If you're on vacation it's probably worth the drive for the experience.
I wouldn't recommend it... It's really hot, but it's open... You can touch it, but I don't think you're supposed to actually get into it. If you want to bathe in the springs, I recommend the Quapaw Baths. It's like Turkish baths, it costs $20 a person, and you can stay in all day. They have 4 different pools with different temperatures.
For those who camp there is Gulpha Gorge park and KOA nearby.
No. You would need to pay for a bathhouse to use because the natural water may burn you.
I have seen people bring their dogs here. So, Im sure you'll find some. Try looking in airbnb.com or vrbo.com
no . there's other ways
You would have to Google your address to Hot Springs.
No. But there are other near by areas that offer camping.
Yes, many accommodations near or on the plentiful water sources.
You cannot camp at this national park. It is literally a set of buildings and a mountain road
I'm assuming you mean for dumping an RV or trailer's septic tank. In which case some camp sites have sewer connections but I don't remember a dump station.
Check Gulpha Gorge campground. If you have an America the Beautiful pass it's half off
The curves are tight so I don't know how big your trailer is. You may want to call first.
No, afraid not; however, you can bathe in the hot spring water at one of the many bath houses in Hot Springs.
8 square miles of hiking and natural sight seeing. The bathhouses are 6 acres. "Just google it".
Honestly I don't know. Ask at visitors center by fountain, beginning of Bathhouse Row; they should be able to answer your question better.
The fall is a seasonal thing, and to the best of my recollection only needs a time of year... You should not need GPS to locate the fall, but a calendar may be helpful. 🙂
It's the longest trail so yes take food and water. Trails are marked by sign and color on trees.
Yes. Friday and Saturday the hours are 8:00 a.m-11:45 and 1:15-3:00
Yes, there are mountain lions here in the state.
Try at the tower first, if they dont have them they will be able to tell you.
A good preventive step is to regularly say the phrase "Hey Bear!" or any phrase you want in a normal talking volume and tone, generally every 10 steps or so. This assures bears will hear you when you whenever you get anywhere close. If they hear this, they will stay away from the noise, and therefore, you. One of my good friends is a park ranger, and this is a technique they tell people to use to avoid bears altogether.
https://www.nps.gov/hosp/learn/nature/animals.htm
There are black bear's in Arkansas
There are park gift shops as well as independent shops along the row. Several books in the Natl Park shop and a few here and there in the others too.
Theres parking meter spaces near the spring. But thers a free parking garage about 6 blocks away.
Crystal springs lake ouchita, I've added pics just Google it lol great day use area... cheap bring 10$ cash. Great jungle gym for the kids and a boat launch.
There are several local bee keeping farms. The local honey is delicious and the Farmers Market is an excellent place to purchase. I would try Sarah's Market or Crow Station General Store that are both on Highway 5. Both of those places sell local farmed products.
Where at, exactly? There are a lot of locations.
No there is a fee to use the baths/spa at the bathhouses. Call or check for prices.
No but there is a place close called Cole's off-road park and another called the wolfpen if I had to choose the wolfpen is much bigger and better
Echo bay is close and has cabins its in mountain pine on lake ochitau
And if there are there sleeping you probably will never see one if you do it will be running the other way
No the hot springs are capped off. How ever you can goto some of the bath houses which tap into that. They are on the same side of the main road as the national park. That cost money but is nice
There are many attractions around the Hot Springs area. There are bath houses, a wax museum, a gangster museum, gift shops, a ride on one on the Ducks sightseeing tours, have dinner or just relax on The Belle of Hot Springs paddle wheel boat for a tour on Lake Hamilton, eat lunch on the lawn of Bathhouse row or stop by beautiful Gavin Gardens! So much to see ad do on your visit to Hot Springs!
The Buckstaff is the operating bathhouse in Hot Springs. All wilderness springs are protected under federal law, kind of like Yellowstone. You would get arrested for bathing in them. There is the park at the north end of Bathhouse row that you can put your hand in, but it is very hot and would likely burn yourself pretty good if your hand was in the water for more than a few seconds.
November to March GREAT time to vist Hot Springs! Less children. Weather vc
Yes it is the off season so less crowded. Temperature is great too.
It has four soaking pools with different temperatures, the highest being 104 F degrees. They are made for soaking, not swimming.
