Can you actually get IN the water?
The whole city is considered a National Park because of our Hot Springs. You can go into different bath house's to look around for free, but the baths themselves are not free. You can call the Visitors center or Chamber of commerce for city Information.
Just to be clear. The Hot Springs National Park includes the City of hot springs. Many people drive downtown to the visitors center by the hot springs where you get free water and say. "Where is the national park?" And the the answer is: "your in it"
Is this park open on New Year’s Eve and day?
The park itself is free to enter. You will need to pay lodging fees at a local hotel or at the campground which is first come, first served. Hotels will probably run you anywhere from 70 to 150 a night, the campground will be a fraction of this but you'll have to compete for a spot. Call the park ranger station and they can help you identify when might be the best time to show up to snag a spot. The rest of the park is free, though. All hiking, watering stations, and building walk-throughs are offered at no additional cost to the public.
The visitor's center doesn't cost anything. If you are wanting to visit the mountain tower then there is a cost for that. It's $8 for ages 12 and up. Parking can be difficult to find and you will probably have to pay to park as well. It's not too much though.
