Were you there yesterday on Christmas Eve? There were notices that the standard schedules might change on Christmas and New Years Eve at many locations both Federal and businesses.

I've only been able to get an appt little over a month out. I registered 3 vehicles (1 new with title, 2 renewals). If you do not have a valid PIN or its over 45 days old, you need to go in person. When I was there just over a week ago the appts were running into January. I belive they only let you make one up to 60 days out. Just keep checking early AM daily. I had to go 30 minutes West into Sussex County to get one less then 30 days out. Keep trying & look out west where there are less applicants requesting an appt. On the up side I was in & out in 15 minutes.

You have to go with the dates they offer. It would be highly unusual to find a same day appt. If you did, it might not be at a location near you. No, at the present time an appointment is not needed for a name change on your driver's licence or non driver's ID. But note the exceptions are taking in between the appointments so it might take some time to get in. Always better to book an appointment if possible instead of waiting for a chance to get in.

The wait was not bad. I strongly recommend that you go early and wait in line. I got there at 6am . The office opened at 8am. I was # 60 in the line. I was done by 9:20am. If you can get the forms you need ahead of time it will save you some time.

No Newton is only registration and titles

DMV doesn't issue the handicap parking placard. Local police issue a temporary one until the permanent arrives, along with a letter from your doctor stating the reason for the need of such a placard.

I got there at 6 am and was done by 9 am. You need to check which locations are doing ID's though. Newton is only doing things with vehicles, ie titles and registrations. Oakland, Paterson, Wayne and other are doing license things.

I got in line at around 7:30 AM and got my turn at around 10:30 AM.

I went Saturday, arrived at 5am and waited for them to open at 8am. I was 86 on line and finished at 10am. in Newton. Bring everything just in case. License, insurance, title, 6 pts of ID, and a check or credit card. Good luck.

Depends what time of day. I went 2 times. The best time was around 12:30-1:30. I only waited 45 minutes outside and about 15-20 minutes inside. I was registering a car, and I had already filled the form out ahead of time.

Closest locations for restorations are Paterson or Newark. However, you can pay most restoration fees online at NJMVC.GOV and then go to any agency to get your licence after the restoration payment has gone through.

It is NOT a full service location. That term refers to an agency that can handle suspension issues which, in Northern New Jersey, are ONLY handled at the Newark and Paterson offices. They also do no handle Reconstructed Titles or issue antique type registration plates like at the Washington office. Newton offers the written test but not road tests. The two closest agencies for the road test are Wayne and Randolph. The Newton Inspection Station is on Moran Street about a half mile away.
