The nurses and doctors are very knowledgable and caring. I received excellent care by the nursing staff.

I've been battling pancreatic cancer since 2017 and have had several stays on 8 East at Shands Cancer Hospital. Each and every time I've been treated with kindness, respect and dignity. My most recent 10 day visit I had outstanding nurses that I saw every day going above and beyond. I want to single out three super heroes of my care team: PCA's (Patient Care Assistant) BROOKLYN, JUSTIN and AUSTIN. Thes three super heroes were there every day shift to help me with all the tasks we take for granted in our daily lives. They never made me feel rushed or that I was an inconvenience. Each one was a unique individual and would take the time to laugh and joke with me, discuss our pets, favorite restaurants, etc. Thank you Brooklyn, Austin, Justin and all your fellow PCAs.

I'm so thankful for UF Health Shands cancer hospital. They really know what they're doing. I'm in remission 🙏🙏🙏 The nurses and doctors are great.

Shands Hospital Gainesville, FL provides horrible follow up care and averts responsibility. They avert responsibility for for their poor surgery results. Our Primary Care physician called them to schedule an appointment directly for post op care and an infection with Dr. Friedman and he refused to see her diverting to a PA. Dr. Friedman sent a msg, via the PA, that we need another surgery consult. This is not going to happen here! We will go to a competent Tampa or Orlando hospital first. Our pet gets better treatment at the vet than this place! Would not recommend Shands Gainesville Hospital. 👎

If they are “walking out” of any hospital perhaps they need to go to either their PCP or urgent care. The long wait times are because people who are too sick to walk in or out are prioritized over idiots using the ER for something non emergent.
I heard that 300 CoQ 10 and 300 Magnesium daily may help prevent migraines, but don't know if it's true. Ask your doctor. May not be something you should be taking anyway without letting your doctor know.
They screwed me up worse with surgeries that should have never been.
Yes . but you can get the parking voucher any time and it's free
Hotel Eleo. Call for patient rates.
They will treat you right. They are kerping my heart ticking
Shands/UF Health is ranked 3rd in the state of Florida when it comes to adult cardiology and heart surgery (according to US News and World Report). In this regard, it is only marginally outperformed by AdventHealth Orlando and Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville.
In the North Tower there is a Wendy's, Subway, frozen yogurt place, and a general cafeteria on the 1st floor. South and East Tower have cafeterias, both on the 3rd floor and connected with a walkway.
No just tell them u have no money they have funds to take care of the bill
I used to work for Clark and daughtry and watsons in lakeland. Am I allowed to ask whonyour Dr is/was
They have a specialist for EVERYTHING...
Yes, they do.
Call the hospital administrators.
As of December 2018, they are building a hotel on the campus for family members of inpatients. However, a lot of the rooms in the south and east Towers have fold-out beds for family members
I believe visiting is over around 9pm. However, you may want to call and verify
Not all Spinal surgery is the same. Some times spinal surgery is performed by a Orthopedic surgeon, some times by a Neurosurgeon. UF Health is well known for both departments.
Another option, If you have the name of the doctor you want to see call and ask for an appointment for a second opinion/consult. You will need to fill out paperwork and have records from previous doctors send. They were good about getting me in quickly.
It varies depending on unit. ICU's are much more restrictive due to the higher acuity of the patients. Most units go by the 9am to 9pm rule. If you are directly envolved in decision making or care, these can be relaxed. UF Health understands that family and caregivers are an important dynamic in treating patients from a holistic approach.
Sands at UF is an excellent team of doctors, if they can't figure it out they ship a doctor in that will
Contact social worker. Ask to be transferred
It's handled individually with your physician.
I believe they are too they have saved many people I know. Sadly though they couldn't save my best friend. They did everything they could for her and they treated her and us with the utmost respect and compassion...they gave us a few more weeks with her. God Bless everyone who works at Shands!
Yes
Yes you can. Just make sure you have the name and room number they are being delivered
Not so sure id reccomend shands for cutting edge or experimental treatment re cancer.. If youre coming from pensacola you might want to look at anderson or mayo in jacksonville if he's that far along. Shands is more of a teaching hospital
I'm not sure maybe someone else can answer this sorry
i,am don,t sorry
We did not have a referral when we first visited. but we did call to make an appointment and had my wife's medical records transferred so that the physician would be up to speed on her history. your best bet I think is to contact the hospital and explain your situation and let them guide you.
Yes go to E.R. only take to long in clinic month or two, if he doesn't have insurance he can apply for financial assistance
No help from non of them. Apparently my son doesn't meet there qualifications...Which is just wrong TBI's are bad anuff no one to help figure out what's going on with the patent! Or to help find out whats next... But i guess that's why it's called a learning hospital!!! NOT my son was born there and has been a patent there sense his accident. He has the my ufhealth portal. So they can all see what the others are doing, sooo help!!! Do what you went to school for DOCTOR! DOCTOR!!!
I can certainly understand why you'd want the answer to that question before you have it done, but due to all the various programs both public and private your best bet is to go there, or at least call them in advance and they can best address your question. Probably ask for the finance office. I wish you the very best
It has been my experience, from extensive stays at shands, that they are happy to accommodate reasonable requests, in that regard. I do not know of a copy center per se.
As Genesis said contact the records department.
Several building's for Shands in Gainesville are located on Archer Rd. Wonderful place. I'm sure they have mental health as well. Just call ahead.
Yes is the quick answer. They have specialist in every field of medicine.
You can call an estates and trust attorney. UNOS determines who gets the organs they need.
You would have to contact the hospital for that information because there is so many departments over there in Gainesville. Actually there are several different hospital's as well. There is North Tower. South Tower. East Tower. Cardiovascular Center. Which is a hospital as well another part of Shands. Then there is the medical plaza as well. Another part of Shands to. You would have to find out which place you are trying to contact and go from there. It's a wonderful place. Good Luck.
They take Medicare and supplemental health ins. Call them to make sure of how much if any out of pocket though.
Shands Hospital has a tremendous, experienced and knowledgeable staff of physicians and staff who will be able to assist you.
I can't be positive. But I can honestly tell you I believe they should. Shands North Tower in Gainesville, Florida is for children. They have several Shands over there. They are a wonderful establishment. Good Luck.
They can charge. Other medical providers can request copies for free for continuing care. Http://m.ufhealth.org/medical-records
I can only read English. If you can translate this for me I will try my best to help you. Thank's
Not promising.. Don't think the doctors are still doctoring at Shands Hospital
Shands does has one next door to the Cancer center
Hi Tito. When we originally contacted Shands, we called the general number, explained my wife's condition and diagnosis, and they connected us to the appropriate associate. BTW, we experienced the BEST care from an amazing staff of caring and extremely professional people. I would take my Mother there.
Lisa is spot on. Too many variables that are beyond a simple answer.
That's a good question.... They have and still are taking excellent care of my mom.....
Wow. My sympathy is with you Sir. ( James McVey). The answer definitely is in the doctor's. Demand answers. Surely it doesn't sound correct. Good Luck Sir. May God Bless You and Your Wife.
Are you serious? Look into therapy please
Definitely need to contact the doctors at Shands, a second opinion is always the right thing.
You should be at the ER with your child and not calling on the phone. I can't agree nor disagree with the actions of the nurse. She may have thought you were trying to self diagnose your child by calling instead of bringing him. If your child's pain level is a 9 or 10, there's no reason to be on the phone with anyone
I agree with Lisa, try North Florida Regional. I have GI issues and have had several procedures at Shands. I am less than thrilled with the gastrointestinal team there.
They are a wonderful facility... Call them directly and if they have what you need... You will get there...
They have a lung specialty program. They specialize in CF. And lung transplant. It's probably one of the best places in the southeast United States to have anything done with your lungs.
Yes
Shands does do Indigent Care.
I do not believe there's an insurance that they do not take.
Call Shands.
See your Dr.
You will need to see doctors in a multidisciplinary field as mold exposure can cause different problems. Contact Shands to find an environmental health doctor to start.
How soon could I see a Doctor?
Yes
You must inquire at hospital, they have info.
Ive never set up an appointment . you just go over there or call and speak to someone in amitting.
I need medical records from 1985. How do I obtain them? This is a question about records.
Not that i know of .that is called (Pneumothorax) it a collapse lung. But u may want to follow up with you doctor
Ron Webb, icu
What I do is park at the South tower across the street and just walk over Sherry. Don't ask if you can park there or they will send you across the street to some bogus parking lot we never could find. Just pull up to the South tower and let the valets park your car and walk across is the easiest way I've found. Sometimes its just better to be forgiven. Be sure to get a parking voucher before you leave or its a $10 charge for parking and of course its always good to tip your valet at least a couple of dollars, most of them are students just trying to work there way through school so, Im always good to them.
Call up there. They will ask you for a password that the patient set up. After that they will give you any info u need
If your traveling from i75 its on the left. Also the 2 towers are connected thru an underground tunnel.
In the North tower they do have dentistry!
