This is my third week as a freshman at UF, and I unfortunately had to take my roommate to the ER this evening. The men at the valet area were very respectful and attentive, however I was disappointed to be eye rolled and criticized by the nurse at the front desk. Having JUST met my roommate, I provided very sufficient medical information for her. In return, I was treated as if I was stupid and ignorant for having an emergency situation *as if this isn’t an emergency room*. The other nurses seemed alright, just few and far between. I can understand understaffing issues.

I am physically here now and the level of service and compassion is deplorable and this place makes you feel like you are not worthy of receiving human kindness. They talk down to you because they feel they can. They confuse your thoughts to make it seem you are the problem. You are corralled into the back and made yo get IV and medical care in front of other patients. Blood being drawn out in the open and sick patients just laying around in chairs waiting for a TELE DOC?? I have never been to a hospital like this and will think to ask how the back of an ER is ran before coming, if I have that option.

I would give ZERO star! The Psychiatric team (two individuals) and spent about 10 min with my husband, who is on the 5th Floor at North Tower. My husband explained to them that he drinks a bottle or two bottles of wine per day to ease his physical pain, and to refrain from taking pain meds. These two ignorant psychiatrists diagnosed him alcoholic and sent another team to send him to a rehab facility. Seriously? This is beyond our comprehension! We contacted Patrick, who is my husband's advocate, but he was useless. This hospital is a total Ghetto! We will Never come back here and go to Mayo in Jacksonville. The majority of RN staff are terrible, and they have no patient throughput; they seriously need process improvement!

Literally took 22 hours to be seen .. never treated my mom.. After going through all the nonsense. Doctors here are great but they are too busy to see you... Go someplace else that cares about the people

Smoking isn't allowed on UF or Shands property. You will need to go to the sidewalk at the street. Even tho you'll see visitors smoking near the hospital, be aware you can be fined for doing so. For the sake of incoming patients, please don't smoke within 50' of the entrances ...especially the ER.

How can doctors keep canceling surgeries on the trauma floors on a reconstruction of a knee and fusing a wrist together. The accident happen a week ago. Other that than I feel the patient is receiving very good care

This hospital receives the worst it the worst cases, we've spent over two months here with our son and watch life flight helicopters come and go all day. Each one of these helicopters have life or death situations aboard, most of these people require emergency surgeries. Each of these surgeries push non-critical surgeries back unfortunately, this is the nature of Shands since they have some of the best surgeons in the country. I hope by now the person you speak of has been taken care of and is doing well.
