Such a caring group of people with the biggest hearts!

This SPCA is phenomenal. It's super clean, most everybody's friendly; seems efficiently run. There's a small store in the front area you can buy toys and food for you for babies and then Windows into where the animals, including bunnies! are housed.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.

Thank you Brandon! Be sure to stop in our shelter and other area shelters this weekend (July 12 - 14) for Pick Me! SC, for many great deals on adoptions! www.pickmesc.com
Good luck with the adoptions. Thank you for providing a safe home for them until they are adopted.
Ohhh I’m soo soo so sorry I know how sad u must be I had a cat named Vega which means star but one day she disappeared it’s been almost a year and I still haven’t found her any home u find her someday
I'm not sure. I would definitely just give them a call.
Someone paid my dog's adoption fee in advance so I got her for free. Check their website for sponsored animals or just drop by.
Yes! Any donations help! However, it would be easiest if you could put the dog food in a disposable bag.
They have some but I'm not sure the brand or method of delivery try calling before you go
I would light a smoke signal from the highest mountain. Or send carrier pigeons. But seriously, asking volunteer map reviewers questions that we dont have answers to is silly. Id verify you have the right number. Or go by there. They answer every time I call.
I don't work there but have volunteered at another shelter. And it takes a lot of time in the morning to feed, clean up and walk all the animals. That way the facility is clean and the dogs a little calmer for guests.
They have to be 18 or older. But they have summer programs with parent supervision.
They do drop offs for their clinics
I went there a year ago and most of the dogs were senior or young pits
Not sure. But maybe the spca may have some contacts that may know.
A month ago, I was told that they usually start picking up with kittens around this time. They are really helpful when you call.
Lots of pits, some labs, and mixes
Yes
Come to the shelter and bring money
We runs adoptions specials many times a year, and waive fees several times a year. Check our Facebook page or join our mailing list to get the most up to date information on adoption fees.
Charleston Animal Society accepts all animals that come from Charleston County and is able to accept owner animals from outside county under certain circumstances. If these kittens are yours their may be a fee associated with surrendering them. However, I recommend coming in and speaking with the the staff to find out what your options are. They may be able to help getting the mom cat spayed for low cost or free to help break the cycle. Charleston Animal Society does not sell or give away animals, they are all adopted.
They rarely preplan the clear the shelter events. Best to call the main number and ask. I will see if I can get an idea if an event is coming up.
I believe so or they give you a script to get filled at any pharmacy. Either way if you adopt an animal they give you a supply until you can get in to see your vet. Edit: misread the question lol. They take any donations they can get.
Yes. They have indoor and outdoor play areas for your dog to meet dogs
9 to 5 weekdays
Sorry you can't keep it but the shelters are over full. If the cat was found then no cost to you if it is yours a small turn in fee may be required
All I can say is you can go to their website there's plenty of information on there about whether they do that not just to let you know they do spayed and neuter cats only once a month two days where they chip them and spayed them I'll try to post a picture of their dates no cost but they have to be in a cage a trapping cage one cat per trap
Call go by there and they may have a website of new arrivals
Hi Debra! We see all kinds of dogs come into our shelter, but the best way to stay up to date is by regularly paying attention to our adoption page at charlestonanimalsociety.org/adopt or following us on social media!
This is Charleston?? Not west palm beach and not GA
Yes, there is, Sarah. However you must bring the feral cat in a trap, either by one you purchased or one the county bring to you before they can actually spay the animal. So far they have been so wonderful Sarah, in that spaying and or neutering for a feral cat is generally right at $65!!🤗
You can surrender you pet during business hours, which I believe are M-Sat 10a.m-5p.m. I second the idea of taking whatever dog food, treats, or bedding you may have along with him. I'm not sure if he would specifically get fed said food, or if it just goes into the mix where all the dogs get fed from. I would DEFINITELY call in advance to ask any questions you may still have. The staff have been very friendly and helpful any time I've called with questions or concerns. There are other options for you if for whatever reason, the CAS can't take your pet. Good Luck!
Yes, you can adopt a dog or a cat. Due to the ever changing Covid-19 restrictions you might need to set up an appt. to come see what animal you'd like to adopt. I was there a week ago to get my kitties neutered and you were able to walk right in and see what they have to offer. Once you find your "friend" you speak with a staff member and they will get some paperwork ready and go over it with you. There is a fee to adopt. I don't remember how much exactly but I think the most you'll come out of pocket for a dog is $150, and that's for a puppy. The older the animal the cheaper it gets. Unsure about the cats but I assume not as much if not the same. If you decide to adopt, the fee covers the vaccines, rabies shot, neuter/spay, microchip... etc. So its really not bad. And I think you can come annually for vaccines and check ups for a much smaller fee than your average Vet. Hope this helps!!
Someone found your dog? and she is at the shelter?? If you got a ship on him they now who is the owner. You need to go there before they put her for adoption.
They always have grown and some 9 months to a year old.
Poor cat. If the cat let it be touch by human you can call any shelter so they can get it, treat it and put it for adoption. Don't be scared.
Not sure. You may need to call them.
I'm pretty sure they do.
Hi Shirley! Charleston Animal Society is open 12pm to 5pm on weekdays and 10am to 5pm on weekends. You are welcome to visit during those times and you can also view the adoptable pets here: https://www.charlestonanimalsociety.org/adopt
I would suggest you visit their website online to see if the have the type of puppy you need.
Check the website. All available animals can be seen there.
Take it to the animal society
Check their website regularly, they're posted in real-time. Website address is Charlestonanimalsociety.org
They go quickly. Just have to keep checking.
I think all the animals at CAS are microchipped upon adoption and that's part of the adoption fee.
Might give them a call, its usually what thats been turned in
You need to call CAS directly for that information.
Im unsure on that i want to say no but don't want to lie
CAS doesn't monitor this page.
You will need to call the animal shelter directly. If it is a stray, and you are NOT looking to adopt it, the shelter will take care of the animal at no cost to you.
It would be best to call.
No they dont have shitzu dogs there
https://www.charlestonanimalsociety.org/xxadopt-a-dog/ Visit the CAS at this website to see babies looking for Fur-Ever Homes!
I don't know but I'm glad to help with adoption fees for a good home.
I would suggest you take them with you just in case they can use them.
The Charleston Animal Society can help so can Lowcountry Pet Wellness on Rivers and Summerville Pet Clinic on Old Trolley.
The Charleston Animal Society does have a Spay and Neuter Clinic. More information can be found here: https://www.charlestonanimalsociety.org/spay-neuter/
You could rescue one if they get one here
They are updated frequently as dogs are adopted daily and new ones arrive. They have had an adoption event going on and many dogs have been adopted this week, so they have less dogs available than usual. I would recommend visiting them in person to see the dogs that are available for adoption. They are always happy to let you spend some time with prospective pets to see if they are a good fit for you.
I would definitely call. They've had all manner if animals in there and I have seen birds there (it was a while ago). It's worth checking
Although I don't work for the Animal Society. I do know that they accept donations dropped off
You can online https://www.charlestonanimalsociety.org/jobs/
You just have to call.
Yes, you can.
If you can get them then take the to the shelter. I'd call them first and make sure they have room
I'VE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS SPCA MATTER OF FACT. MS. SANDRA IS REALLY GREAT I OFTEN WONDER IF SHE HAS A BED IN THE BACK. CAUSE SHE'S ALWAYS THERE. BUT I DO LOVE THE FACT THERE A NO KILL SHELTER. AND THERE FOR THE ANIMALS.
Yes you can. It depends on the dog. Call and ask about their fees.
You get a small bag of food. You have to buy the crate, leash and collar. You can buy heartworm meds as well as flea and tick prevention there also.
Prob have to go there
At the animal society there will be signs on the front doors to direct you.
Yes they give all shots. Rabies is 10 or 15
I was there on Tuesday 5-14-19 and there was a rabbit in the adoption area so yes if someone surrenders a rabbit the will assess it and look for a home for it.
Yes they do if it is from Charlestown county. They may tell you to leave it by the nest.
Need arrangement info and prices. My cat has cancer and isn't going to get better. I can't allow her to suffer any longer. Finances are a major problem right now. Going to have to borrow the money to put her to rest.
Yes, not sure how much though.
I am sure they do
I am not sure, but if not they will let you know who will.
Apply for a position there, or to apply for a pet adoption?
Thanks ,sorry for bothering you .maybe I should have read replys yall have made to others ,just sad when people are trying to help these poor babies y'all come across like you really don't want to be bothered.NO REPLY NEEDED.
All adult dogs are half off right now. Adult dogs are usually $95, so $42.50 right now. Puppies are $125. Prices may vary depending on the time of year and what adoption specials are going on. I don't know if there are yorkies or not.
I believe the fee is 75$ unless you're on Gov. assistance the fee is 25$
They are overwhelmed at times and are understaffed do to most of their employees are volunteers this is a no-kill shelter. If you can't reach them over the phone , it's best to ride over there and see them
Yes, as a last resort. Most of the animals placed for adoption are stray homeless animals. The shelter does take in pets surrendered by their owners on an appointment basis. You come in and speak to the intake staff about your specific situation.
Joe Elmore is the current President and CEO. Hank Greer is the current Board Chair.
Yes
If you found him in Charleston County he can brought to Charleston Aninal Society.
Not sure but if it's your puppy, you can call them and let them know that you're going to pick up the puppy. There is a fee for each night that the dog stays.
The price is very. At times they even have free adoption weekend
Check out their website and click on "adopt a dog" and you can see all the fur babies up for adoption
Charleston Animal Society doesn't pick up animals, they have no officers. It's the designated shelter for the county and will accept all animals for the County. We accept strays and there are no fees for bringing an animal that was found as a stray. Animal control run by each municipality actually pick up stray and bring them to the shelter.
I'm not for sure but, since it's a Tuesday I would say that they are check their web page it should tell you for sure...
Have no idea. Would have to call tuem
Yes. They will take any animal. Just go on in and talk to them. They are wonderful people and easy to talk to. Not judgemental at all. 😊
Feral Cat Program: I will be hiring an attorney to sue due to damages to property.
They have guinea pigs so I assume they'll also take rabbits
CAS is closed today but will reopen tomorrow morning at 10a.m.
We have bunnies on a pretty regular basis. Make sure to ask staff when you come in since they may not always be up front.
I am sure that they take bedding donation for the dogs...
Yes, they are a no-kill shelter. CAS has an extensive foster program, of which i am a member. One type of foster is for older animals who need a break from the shelter. Another is where you take an animal into your home and keep them until you are able to get them adooted. If a cat is very old and hasn't been adopted, there is always the chance one of the fosters will take them and care for them for the rest of their life. But whatever happens, they are never put down.
Summerville Pet Clinic. Its Dr. Bice.
Yes they do. They have a vet and vet tech staff there everyday.
If you can prove that they did it then they should cover the cost of medical care
There might be some kind of a fee but they are very nice
Call them. Listen for the prompts and pick the most appropriate one. You may have to leave a voicemail. Or go by and talk to them and just have the doggo with you.
Depends on the background of the cat. Can be anywhere from a day, to a week, to a month or more.
Yes there is a charge, if they decide that the animal needs to be euthanized. I do not know what that charge is.
Look like for kittens it's $100.00 this includes fees
Not sure . I have seen a rabbit in a cage there . About 1 month ago when my daughter and I went to donate some things to Charleston Animal Society .
They do the shelter animals, or they give you a certificate to get it done at your vet for free when you adopt there, but I don't know if they will do you pets that don6come from the shelter. Give them a call, and ask.
I'm not sure. They can tell you the price, if there is one, over the phone.
Not sure if they do flea dips but I use yeast pills with garlic flavoring and it keeps them from getting fleas. It also helps with ticks and mosquitoes too.
Dawn dish detergent
Hi if they live in Charleston County we can be of assistance. If you could help us by coming to the shelter and picking up traps for those cats we will supply the traps and then you bring them back and drop the traps off with the cats and then we spay neuter and treat the animals and then we call you and you take them back to the business where they are currently living and they will not multiply anymore in their environment as Farrell's.
My Yorkie came from the Animal Society...1) I used the voucher for checkup and discovered she had worms in her stool. 2) took her back to the Society and they gave her meds...and NEVER use the vet for med. Go to low country vets for your meds and vaccines. Watch what you feed your pet...it can save you TONS of money and unnesassary test.....
Hi, We are very sorry to hear about the medical issue your dog is facing. The ideal solution is for you to visit your veterinarian. He or she is in the best position to give you the information you need to make the best decision for your pet.
Lowcountry Vet on River and Aviation. Not sure of age. But shots are package deal of $65 ( approximately) each.
Hi Charlie. Unfortunately, we cannot accept open bags of pet food. Thank you for thinking of us.
Hi Al, So sorry to hear your cat is missing. Microchipping is always the best way to protect pets who may get lost. You can call the 800 number associated with your chip and they can give you information on if your cat has been found by a local shelter or vet office with a chip reader. Typically, once scanned, an organization like ours will reach out with an email or phone call. Here are other steps to take: 1. Blanket your neighborhood with flyers that have a photo of your missing pet and let your neighbors know your cat is missing. 2. Post information on facebook! If you don't have Facebook, have a friend do it for you. 3. Look for facebook pages that specialize in lost pets and make a posting on those pages. 4. Go to your local shelter in person and see if your lost pet is there.
And if you are elderly, or sickly, or no ride????
Yea you will never get anyone to answer the phone, because they don't have a specific person for that. They are either always busy with the animals or customers. It is best to go in, that is what I was told by the people who work there.
18 to volunteer unaccompanied, but there are several programs you can participate in if youre under 18 but still wany to help! Look under the Education tab on their website!!
If they have one there
I do not work there, you have to call them and cancel your appointment
Go up there. Take any proof that you have that the fur baby belings to you. Shot . Records, pictures of you and your fur baby. Your I'D. I would recommend that you have your fur baby micro chipped and spade or neutered as well. The animal shelter does a fantastic job. The staff are very compassionate of you and your fur baby.
I don't know. I took my pet there to get spaded. I had to pay for her shots. The spade was free for donating a bag of dog food during the share the love event with them partnering with Crews Sub in North Charleston.
No, only if you choose to donate.
They are always extremely busy. If you leave a message they will call you back
Puppies are more than adult dogs. Sometimes the fees are waived if a Guardian Angel pays the fees, in hopes they find a home sooner. :)
Hi we will have free adoption events when sponsors are available. Please check our adoption pages for details.
They dont want you to judge a dog by looks, they want you to find a job matching on personality and lifestyle. Thats not something that can be judged in a photograph.
Ik they will set up traps for stray cats and pick them back up and take them in but, I'm not sure how they handle stray dogs, but you can always ask them.
Our hours are Noon-5 on weekdays and 10-5 on weekends.
The shelter is fine. A lot is two words. Punctuation is important.
I live near the SPCA, what is question and I could relay it to them.
They are a no kill shelter. If you bring in the cat they will be happy to assist you for sure.
Charleston Animal society may still do it for free, but they'd have to be up to date on shots. If not it's $30. Or at least that's how much I paid to have my cat done. I'm Charleston county so the surgery itself was free. Also try Pet Helpers, they may still help on stuff like that. Hope this helps. Good luck
Where are you located? If you live in north Charleston they do it for free for them period
Sick animals are humanely euthanized only when they are in extreme pain and cannot be healed. Our veterinarians work tirelessly to save every healthy and treatable animal possible thanks to Toby's Fund, Charleston Animal Society's medical fund, funded by our supporters like you.
On the website, there is a list of volunteer opportunities.
We recommend you go to your personal vet for updated rabies shots. We do occasionally hold vaccine clinics.
We recommend you go to your personal vet for updated vaccine shots. We do occasionally hold vaccine clinics. All of our animals are vaccinated before being adopted.
I do not know that answer.
We do not offer free exams. Please check with your local veterinarian. Many are willing to work with new patients and may offer an affordable payment plan.
