SCHENGEN VISA 1. The online booking system is overwhelmed and they update the system weekdays only at 3:01 on the nose. The appointment will be months away. They don't answer phones or email. 2. You may need to wait 30 minutes outside for your scheduled appointment once you check in with the security guard. 3. The security guard doesn't speak English. May or may not be deaf, and may or may not be cranky. 4. There is only one person working inside, so they only take one person at a time. 5. The person working inside was very serious. 6. We were told the visa could take 7-15 days or more. 7. Our express envelope was dropped off at the post office with the visa in 36 hours after our appointment. 8. The stress involved cuz of the uncertainty of the whole process was unbearable. They did thier job very well and we appreciate it but in the end the obscurity of it all was unnecessary.

I was so busy trying to book my flights that I forgot to book an appointment for a Schengen Visa. I logged in online and found an appointment week after I’m supposedly back here in the states. Luckily, this past Saturday after trying to log in the whole week at 3pm, I found a random appointment for Tuesday, the 17th. I completed all requirements that Saturday afternoon and showed up for my tuesday appointment. It’s now Thursday evening and I just received my passport with my Schengen visa. Granted I had an overnight prepaid self stamped envelope, but the service was so fast, I’m really impressed. My tip for those people trying to get an appointment, try the weekend, maybe you will have the same luck as I did!

Very efficient. I applied for the Schengen Visa there on Tuesday and it arrived on Friday.

Went for the visa interview today with my husband. The staff were friendly and efficient. We waited for about 20 minutes before checking in as other people were being assisted. Once they got to us it took only 20 min to finish the entire process (review documents, typing in information, finger printing and getting the receipt). Make sure to prepare all documents according to the guidance posted on the consulate website and you’ll be good to go. The entrance to the visa interview room is on the side of the building. There is a door bell which you ring and they would let you in. The room is a bit small with only a few seats. You may not get a seat while waiting. We didn’t want to try our luck with street parking, so we parked in a garage 3 blocks away, and walked to the consulate-uphill all the way. Make sure to arrive a few minutes early and allow the time for the walk as it is quite steep. Document wise, it was listed on the website that an employment verification letter with dates of vacation is needed. My company uses the standard template for VOE letters and I was not able to add the dates there. But is was OK, they didn’t ask for that.

My friend, I'm sorry that you are having problems. Italians are amazingly caring and generous...unless they are behind the wheel or working for the government. I immigrated at the age of ten, and fortunately, I'm fluent in Italian, which definitely helps. But you can't become fluent very easily if you're not. The only thing I can suggest is to be very nice and appeal to the person for help. Better that you plead stupidity and ask for help than try to intimidate them in any way. If you can get the name of the right person you're halfway there. Italians are relational above all - even government functionaries.Good luck one and all.
I have found when I used Chrome some available appointment times were not displayed. Same dates had more times displayed on firefox/safari. Use firefox for the appointment site, it renders better.
You have to do it at 3pm our time. Find a fast computer and log in but wait until the last second to hit enter. It’s aweful
No, you need an appointment.
I wish! With the prices/cost of health care in the US no one would want to pay for it.
You can park right on the street next to the consulate. No need to find a parking garage.
You haven't provided many details, but if you were born in Italy and then left and your parents are not Italian you have no basis. Now, from your first name it really sounds like your parents might be Italian and then it's a different story.
Renew it. You need to be registered with AIRE in order to renew it with the Italian Consulate: it's a prerequisite.
You have to book online. Often the appointments are booked 2 years in advance. But sometimes you can snatch up ones that have been cancelled. I recommend booking the appt right away and not wait for all the documents
Hi! I was facing the same problem, then I sent them an email and they were able to book one for me. Maje sure you indicate your day/time preference.
I dont see a way to pick an appt date/time on the visa booking page :( tried both chrome and firefox
I don't see a way to select appointment date and time on the prenotami website. I tried both Chrome and Firefox. Does anyone know how to secure an interview date? I also emailed them, no response :(
If you have an American passport, then you don't need a visa. You can apply for an ESTA online. You need to be fully vaccinated against COVID and take a test 72h before travel.
They have a new interface for making appointments. You have to register on the new interface. The old one still works for appointments already made.
No you must be vaccinated
I believe you'll have to visit the consulate.
They just opened more appointments. Try to schedule again via Fast.it
The sizes are different (USA 2x2 inches). The Italian size is 35mm x 40mm with face covering from 70% to 80% of the picture. There are some good phone apps that will help you to take correct pictures and print them.
You can and you should. The law says you can obtain Italian citizenship if at least one of your parents was Italian citizens when you were born. You can actually obtain it via your grandparents. The process in not even excessively long. Read this for the alternatives: https://www.icapbridging2worlds.com/italian-dual-citizenship-services/jus-sanguinis/
I don't know what a traffic diversion is. Only my wife was allowed in to get her visa. I think they treat Italians much nicer.
Sorry, I don't speak Italian and the translator failed.
This is a 2 steps question. First, were you ever Italian when you were in Italy, was at least one of your parents Italian citizen when you were born? You could be already an Italian citizen, easy. If so your kids can be already Italian citizens as well. Your spouse will have it a little harder: she can have a "permesso di soggiorno" (the Italian green card) first when you move and after that she will need to apply for Italian citizenship in 2 years of residence. However the latest law requires a knowledge if Italian language at level B1 with a test in order to acquire the Citizenship. And that is the hard part. Level B1 is not a beginner lever but I would say intermediate/advanced one.
Try to contact the "Comune di Modena - Sezione dell'Anagrafe". Try first via email and hope for a kind and caring person who will respond. https://www.comune.modena.it/documenti-e-dati/modulistica/anagrafe-e-stato-civile

You need to confirm it via Fast.it portal
Hi, mine took 3-4 business days. They are busy but working really quick... Friendly too...
There is no web site to renew the Italian Passport. There is the Consulate web site with detailed instructions. https://conssanfrancisco.esteri.it/consolato_sanfrancisco/en/i_servizi/per_i_cittadini/passaporti
I have 2 passport appointments at the San Francisco consulate for Friday, August 2 that I do not need anymore. One is at 10:30am and the other at 11:30am. They are 30 min long appointments for passport “renewal”, so not sure if they can be used for citizenship recognition. I would assume so as it seems the same Prenota system is used for citizenship recognition & issuance of passports.

I had this same issue with another state. What I did was have my divorce attorney prepare a letter to the Italian consul stating that there were no appeals pending and that the divorce was final. It was acceptable to the Italian consul.
Call the embassy, i got mine in 3 days
Street parking or use hospital parking at Webster and Clay. only a couple of blocks away.
We can use this website https://conssanfrancisco.esteri.it/consolato_sanfrancisco/en/i_servizi/per_i_cittadini/visas.html
International drivers license is needed with drivers license.
If neither of you are italian citizens, you do not need to register your marriage. Check the website to see if your passport need a tourist visa.
You have to apply for a tourist visa. The requirements are in the website.
You must get appointments on the website. That is the only way.
Did your grandparents naturalize in the US?
Presuming this is an Italian student in the USA, she can apply for an Emergency Travel Document. Please see https://conssanfrancisco.esteri.it/consolato_sanfrancisco/en/i_servizi/per_i_cittadini/passaporti/furo-e-smarrimento-del-passaporto.html for details.
You can't. The appointment is for an individual. If it's an emergency, you can try emailing them.
A1: YES you can only schedule your appointment on Prenota A2: YES it doesnt have to be at 3PM, i did mine in the morning 3 months prior to the date i want to go.
One cannot enter the consulate without an appointment. Also, there's no restroom so go before you go.
U can arrive 15mins before but they wont let u in. Yes they are strict cuz the wiating area is pretty small.
That day
I'm not aware of the appointment schedule. But in the meantime I would recommend gathering all your paper work that is required for the request. And find out if you can file directly in italy
Just to be sure you are referring to the website prenota online?
You wont be able to confirm your appointment ubtil 10 days before the appointment date. So if your apppointment is october 30 you need to confirm it by October 20
If it is an Italian passport I suggest you go on their website and send an email to the proper place
You would have to wait another 90 days beforr returning to the entire schengen zone unless you got a visa. Any non-EU citizen can only spend 90 days in a 180 day period in the Schengen area unless you have a visa allowing otherwise.
You can however be prepared for a two-year wait. And that's not a joke I really mean it's a two-year wait
No! Just bring both your CA ID and your school ID (and of course copies of each).
You need a good immigration attorney, and it's not a picnic. But it can be done. My friends did it by starting an "Italian" deli. I think we (US) prefer to shaft good, law-abiding, and especially educated aliens, but seem to want to protect lawbreakers. Maybe join a gang and move to San Francisco or another sanctuary city.
Call the consulate, don't go without an appointment, they won't let you in. Also, NO public restroom so relieve yourself first. If not, it's a 4 block walk. The parking is practically non existent. Good luck!
My daughter still trying to get an appointment before then. Any advice? What time does the site refresh every day? Thanks
Go to the website, it's in italian.
Need to go online and make the appointment. Don't expect to be seen anytime soon. These folks are Definitely "dolce farniente"
I suggest you go to the Italian Consulate in San Francisco and discuss it with him in person
Go to the consulate Web page, the information should be on it.
Call the consulate.
You need to contact the consulate directly not posted on this board
The embassy or consulate I should say, is notorious for not getting back to people leaving voicemails or emails. Truthfully your best bet is to go down there but first check their information pages.
Probably, but it will take an Italian lawyer about 3 years 5,ooo $
No way. You have to request the next available date for issuance and it's usually months away.
I believe so.
Not being an employee of the consulate I couldn't know anything about that. Why don't you just call them and find out their website
Go to the consulate or call for an appointment.
Depending on your appointment time and how many people are in front of you it could take up to 2 hours
Sorry, I have no idea. You would probably get the answer on their website.
I'm not sure what you're asking, however, I would go on their website and see if you questions can be answered. If not, do not bother writing to the consulate, go in person.
I have been trying to get my citizenship for more than 5 years now. I have had 2 appts cancelled on me last minute because I didn't have the EXACT paperwork they required (on certified Govt disc rather than hard copy) and now that I do, I cannot get another appt. I've been trying since last year and there is never an opening or a cancellation. The person I was working with no longer works for the consulate, so I am in the same boat. Wish I had a solution :(
Yes, without Visa you can only do 3 months
If she writes emails, they reply to her earlier than on the phone
