This is a 2 steps question. First, were you ever Italian when you were in Italy, was at least one of your parents Italian citizen when you were born? You could be already an Italian citizen, easy. If so your kids can be already Italian citizens as well. Your spouse will have it a little harder: she can have a "permesso di soggiorno" (the Italian green card) first when you move and after that she will need to apply for Italian citizenship in 2 years of residence. However the latest law requires a knowledge if Italian language at level B1 with a test in order to acquire the Citizenship. And that is the hard part. Level B1 is not a beginner lever but I would say intermediate/advanced one.
