Hi! Is there an institution (in Italy or US) where I can raise an official complaint about Italian consulate in SF? Any info will be much appreciated. Thank you.

My friend, I'm sorry that you are having problems. Italians are amazingly caring and generous...unless they are behind the wheel or working for the government. I immigrated at the age of ten, and fortunately, I'm fluent in Italian, which definitely helps. But you can't become fluent very easily if you're not. The only thing I can suggest is to be very nice and appeal to the person for help. Better that you plead stupidity and ask for help than try to intimidate them in any way. If you can get the name of the right person you're halfway there. Italians are relational above all - even government functionaries.Good luck one and all.

They have no respect for Italian citizens in CA in need of help. I don't think there is a means for an official complaint otherwise they would not be getting away with their awful behavior.

There is a register inside the consulate for feedback and complaints. Not sure if it will be helpful now, assuming you dont plan to go back there.

That is a good question. I'd complain if I knew who to contact !

I think the short answer is 'no', especially if you want to deal with the consulate in the future. And since you're 'assigned' to a consulate based on where you live, you have no choice in the matter. Bite the bullet is about all you can do and just hope you get through whatever it is. I submitted US citizenship documents for certification by the consulate's notary, who actually lost two of the most expensive ones. My only option: order them from the federal govt again and pay for them again. I wrote to the Consul General asking politely that the notary be reminded that he is in a position of trust and responsibility when he has people's documents. No response. I have no idea whether the documents dropped behind a desk somewhere or were sent off to someone else. The only thing you can do is shrug your shoulders and say, "Beh!"
