The little parking lot gets crowded early so you might need to plan a little ahead to get to this great spot to watch a sunset over the Pacific. There are not many facilities here so essentially you park, get out and watch the sunset. The beach is accessible without major obstacles if you would like to walk closer to the ocean. I highly recommend spending about 45 minutes here in your visit to San Diego.

We were in San Diego for 4 days, and for two of those evenings, we went to Sunset Cliffs. It is one of the most gorgeous places I’ve ever been to. The views are unmatched and the beach is pretty (if you can get down there).

Beautiful and serene place to see the ocean, the cliffs and the Sunset. The views are amazing. Parking is free. There’s a short hike from the parking area to the cliffs where you can have an awesome view of the ocean and the cliffs. Bring binoculars to spot surfers and whales.

Beautiful place to watch the sunset. Cliffs are unstable, so be careful walking around. There are a few benches around to sit and watch the sunset. Gets busy quickly so you may want to arrive about an hour before sunset. You will need to walk about a mile from where you park to see the best views.

Free. Parking is crowded on the weekends. Visit during the week or be prepared to walk a block or two.
I had my dog with me at sunset cliffs and la Jolla. No dog restrictions but keep your dog far away from the seals.
Yes you can stop there on those little parking sites and take a nap in the night it's safe and nobody it's going to rob you, but any ways make sure your car it's locked all around some people sleep in their van with doors open all the away you'll. Be alright
Just bundle up for the possible cold weather. Cant say I havent done it myself though.
I made it just in time for sunset so I was there around 7pm-7:30 and you have plenty of room to walk around.
While it is possible, it is technically illegal as you would still be inside both the Lindbergh Field & North Island NAS exclusion zones. So the Feds could arrest you. However, by staying lower than 400' you also would be lower than the ridge line of Pt. Loma and I doubt anyone would come after you. You do know that just East of Sea World there is City approved model plane and helicopter field? You would be entirely legal there.
Its road side parking .. Yes you can park if you find a spot , which is difficult though .
The stairs are closed due to unstable cliffs.
I didn't notice it being too crowded. We had several places to park, a beautiful place to visit. I found La Jolla to b way more crowded. It is worth seeing, tho...
No way. I probably wouldn't bring a baby here at all as the rocks are really slippery; one is prone to falling or briefly losing balance even without having a baby attached to your chest or back. A stroller is also not recommended being that it's a bunch of stairs down a steep narrow staircase and at the end of that is the ocean, rocks, and cliffs/ledges.
And :)
It's more of a hiking/surfing area it's all cliffs sides idk if u could set up a bbq there
Way at the north end there were a few last week at Ladera and Cordova streets
Yes with leash
Nope
You'll have plenty of dogs running around, so bringing something for them too :)
I dont think it allowed. Im sure it happens though.
There are definitely trails to walk with some amazing views but they're currently on phase II of the reconditioning of it. Even so, highly recommended place to visit.
They should be..they were rebuilt about a year ago. Slippery at the bottom!
Yes you can fish there. I saw two guys fishing on the opposite side of where we were jumping. I asked, "any luck?" Said "no, not to much." But it was around 1pm.
In Ocean Beach at the rec center but that’s not right next to the cliffs
The beach is technically not accessible, but there are a few ways people are climbing down the cliffs. They have recently started a park renovation - and there are some fears that they will block access to the beach entirely. However, currently if you do want to climb down to the beach it is not far from the street parking, maybe 5 minutes.
No pay. All free. Be aware of time though when there's a lot of cars parked.
No can do. And no, not allowed. There are other place nearby where you can go fishing.
There are no public transportation stops at the cliffs. The closest would probably be Catalina Bl. & Talbot St. Which has a bus stop. I would suggest just taking a lyft, Uber. Just take the 5-N to the 8-W...the follow signs for sunset cliffs blvd...follow that to the end and you will be at the park
