I didn't notice it being too crowded. We had several places to park, a beautiful place to visit. I found La Jolla to b way more crowded. It is worth seeing, tho...
Stay away from peak hours, and you're fine
Crowded exactly where? The beach below... the top of cliff... the parking lot... the trails out west... the eucalyptus forrest... so many places to chill.
NOT crowded IF you avoid when school is out. Avoid when high surf draws surfers & beach bunnies. Usually not crowded on overcast days. I find it tranquil to go weekdays in the 9am to 11am frame. Well past the morning surfers and before the Naz students are up and about.
I was there on a Wednesday night and there was a lot of people but i wouldn't say crowded. There is a lot of space if you're willing to walk around a bit.
I think it's hit or miss, though neither time i was there, would I consider it "crowded". There is a lot of room to spread out as well
I went there on a cool Monday evening, down to the beach, wasn't crowded
