Yes, call and get a permit first though!
Yes they've got a trail that you can hike that leads up into the mountains and you can camp anywhere, BUT you have to get a permit AND they only give daily permits. I believe they only give permits to the first 25 or so that purchase a permit (not quite sure if it's per person or per group). So therefore, if you want to stay there for more than one day, you might have to hike back down and purchase another one before they run out! I think! They have a set system there so you can call and ask for specific details if you have more questions that I couldn't answer haha. Hope that helps!

But when you turn on highway 150 from highway 160, drive 2 miles up highway 150 and on the right there's free dispersed camping. This is a few miles outside the sand dunes.
