Had a great day at the South Unit section of the National Park. Lots of walking, but lots of driving. It was my first national park. I tried to hit up all of then trails. I recommend hitting both of the highest peaks--look for them on the map. The buffalo are mostly active at sundown and in the morning--you will learn their habits. We saw wild horses in their favorite spots. Check out the gift shop as well and walk the exhibit there. Visit the Château de Mores home as well. It has its own $10 fee, but worth it as it is a beautiful home. There are many do-able trails at the park. I did 17,000 steps and about 9 miles on my day and was not too sore. Just drive and park, drive and park. I wish trails were more connected, but that's not what these parks are like.

My new favorite national park. Not overrun by tourists like so many of the parks. Everyone here truly is interested in the park and not about getting the best shot for social media. This is a must-see park for outdoor lovers. It’s easy to see why Teddy Roosevelt loved the area.

So beautiful! The drive through the park was well worth the $30 admission fee for 2 adults! The wildlife and sights to see were epic!

Great little drive. Spotted some feral horses, wild bison herds, prairie dog towns and wild pronghorn antelopes. Be sure to stoop in the interpretive museum/ store at the beginning. Beautifully views from the roadways.

The loop isn't open. Currently out and back takes about 2.5 hours.

how much does it cost to get in?

We had a Senior NP Pass so it cost us nothing to get into the park. We camped for only $3.50/night with the "winter" rates. If they were ready for summer with water available through out the park, we would have paid $7.00/ night. The lower rates are because we had the Lifetime Senior pass. I'm afraid I don't know how much normal rates were.

Is the loop open if not when will it be
