This is a beach you can drive as well as camp… Nice!! Sometimes it is clean but there are times garbage and debris wash up here. Nice place to watch the sunset with your better half:)

Great place for the entire family!! The beach was clean and well kept. Everyone was having a great time. People driving in vehicles or ATVs were cautious and respectful. We did didn't see any trash. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely beautiful, no trash like others complained about. Shells galore! Drive on beach! Seen some dead jelly fish. Fun and clean experience!

Thanks so much for all the answers. Brought both my dogs there this weekend and they had a great time!
I did not go in the water. But others swam. I prefer to sit and watch the surf.
Be prepared where ever you camp. Not much there though. If your a fisherman that's the place to be.
Its literally BIG and empty but still beautiful you'll be fine prepare yourself though nothing but water all around since the hurricane i just visited last week
The roads to the beach are fine. THE access road to the beach itself is gone ( there is a rad closed sign at it's entrance), so is the pavilion, everything... no real good access to the beach unless you have a 4x4 or capable vehicle. No convenience stores etc. for at least a 40 minute drive. Creole area is still pretty devastated. Great view though from the lil road to the left and you can park/camp there with a 40ftr. You would have to go to the end of it to turn around. Ask away if you have any other questions.
Yes,you can!...just please clean up the empties!...there is a dumpster in the parking lot
Yes you can. Also if you go to Joseph's Harbor and Price Lake Rd.
I am here this weekend, yes it is open.
Yes you can but be prepared for bugs, ufo sightings and be sure to check the weather......great place to fish and catch blue crab
No..not that I am aware of
There are signs saying swimming isn't allowed due to riptides now. Beach itself is mostly clean. All but one beach house remains. Tons of Rv and tent campers along the beach. Just pull up and find a spot. Sands a little thick in parts so plan accordingly.
I'm not positive although I did see a couple of people using detectors
I notice a big commercial ice machine sitting isolated near the ferry landing, not sure if it's for public use.
We were there a month ago in our 31 foot class A. We got stuck in the sand numerous times and had to be towed out. I wouldn't recommend driving on the beach with a big rig. There are lots of places to park with hard surfaces. But the beach is absolutely beautiful!!!
There are no hookups, no security or even campsites really. We just went for the day. There were a couple campers there pulled off to the side.
It's open, we were just there this week. It has portable toilets only, no other services. Tons of shells!!!!
Open always just a beach shoreline plenty of parking a few miles of beach shells are plentiful but small from1/4 inch to 3 inches and half shells. Few large 2 inch conch shells takes a lot of walking for best selection.
There are no facilities there other than Port-o-pottys and if you're lucky a food truck may show up.
There are no rental cabins at Rutherford Beach. There are a few camper spots rentals.
Yes.. right on the beach. Just make sure you bring firewood, tiki torches, or citronella candles. The mesquite's are bad right at sundown. You can tent camp or set up RV road along the beach.
I did not find anywhere close by that did. Wal-Mart in lake charles or online is your best bet.
Keep moving your spot might get you more time
There are guys and girl designated port o potties. Didn't see any shower stations. They might have been closer to the beach rental business there.... I know Holly Beach has wash stations though.
No boondocking only there is a place past Rutherford that has full hookups you have to go to the Gas s station That has the restaurant next door and take the road to the marina there is also a free dump station down that road as well
Yes but there is a speed limit on the main beach area, you have to go all the way to the end to ride faster.
Yes, except for the fishermen, pack out your trash. I wouldn't swim in that water lots of oil rigs out there, plus it Louisina water. When I was there I seen a guy get stabbed with a Stingray.
No. Really nothing in this area so stock up on supplies and fuel before going. There is a country store about 7 miles I think but only carry basics.
yes you can...you can also primitive camp, fish, etc...there are bathrooms. a lot of times the water is posted due to high bacteria counts but I've seen lots of people flat out ignore those signs (they are prominent) and let their children swim & play...be aware there are sand bars close to the beach and there are deeper areas between each one which does create rip-tides and a strong undertow & there are no lifeguards...
Yes there is ..i belive the weather net work Louisiana beaches..and type name and it will give you states of it ..
As long as you'd like. There is no limit of time
Campfires are great and a lot of fun make sure you clean up behind yourself as do not leave trash for the next person not a good idea to use wooden pallets something that will leave behind nails and other debris that which cannot be burnt
Yes there are porta potties but you may want to take some toilet paper with you.
I don't believe it does but that's part of the beauty of that beach the natural look.
