We had not been here despite knowing about it for several years now. That was a mistake. Besides the cave tours, which are great there a number of other activities to enjoy. We took the "Discovery" tour and will come back to take on of the other tours they offer. Definitely worth checking out and fun for the entire family.

We booked this experience not really knowing what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised with how beautiful the cavern was. I would like to inform others that it is pretty intense physically. It was warm in there with incredibly high humidity. There are ramps with railing, but it can be difficult to navigate going both down an up the extremely steep inclines on the way back out. With that being said, the gift shop was well kept and so are the entire grounds. The cavern was extraordinary and our guides were very professional.

I’ve visited several caverns in the past in multiple states, and I’ve got to say, this is the nicest one I’ve seen in terms of infrastructure and conveniences. They have great parking, well maintained facilities and walkways, a range of others activities and attractions, and food and drinks. The cave tour is well run and interesting (although I was surprised how big the tour group was) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The tour takes a little over an hour and you get to see about 3/4ths of a mile of cave structures. Most of the tour is on very well paved paths with handrails, so for a cave, it’s very accessible for all ages. I would definitely recommend this tour.

One word, amazing. The place is well kept with clean and maintained facilities above ground with plenty of staff to help guide and direct. The caverns themselves were amazing. The different formations, structures, colors were all awesome to see. The path and railings were sturdy with no issues or concerns along the way with lighting that really complemented the natural formations. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and he was easy to hear and understand. If you're interested in caverns or caves at all I highly recommend you check this out.

No, the website states no pets allowed. Also the steps of the tours are no condusive for their traveling either.
😂😂😂
The park is, yes. The cave trails are not. They warn you prior to the descension that it's physically demanding and not for everyone. The cave is absolutely not wheelchair accessible.
Prices actually range from $22-26.75 each based on date/attendance. Highest price for adults will be $26.75, but when I went just last Monday 2 of gained entry for $48 total.
Yes, my daughter bought one there.
Yes, not strenuous at all very easy walk. Alot of resting to learn about caverns in between. Also alot of extra stuff outside Caverns suitable for younger kids.
Yes, we only close if there is lighting in the area for 45 minutes or permanently for the day if there is ice, hail, or a severe weather warning for the area
Yes. U just can't touch any of the natural formations. Only railing.
The ziplining is done outside of the caves, in a separately constructed attraction they call Canopy Challenge. You buy tickets for both from the same place, but the cavern tours and the ziplining are paid separately (you can buy package passes that include both).
There are very steep hills going up and down directions as well as a lot of stairs at the beginning and end.. I could see it working for a small foldable stroller if someone was able to carry it during the parts that are not flat enough?
To be honest they rush you thru the tours like hearded cattle. We arrived at 1:00 pm. We didn't get to do our tour of the first til 4:07. Everywhere there was a line. In my opinion because of pandemic they need more social distancing and more things to do while you wait. Expensive souvenirs and food is way too high. You'd better be in shape for the tours. We liked it but weren't happy with the total deal
Last week we were there and all were open. Web site has all good details.
Adult: $25.75, Child: $16.75
Its wet, not slippery and has steep descent / ascent in small bits. Your sandals should have a great grip! Also open shooes can get wet due to dripping water, your feet could be all wobbly in your shoes!
From what ive seen. It's problem better to have a baby pack.. But as for strollers. Yes I can but cant enter the cave parts...
No you do not have to do both. They are different caves in close proximity to each other. The discovery tour is a much larger cave structure Hidden passages cavern was never open to the outside so some of the formations are 'longer' The discovery was open to the outside and had bats etc. so more touched
Agreed with all the above. It's steep stairs, especially in the hidden passages tour. I wouldn't recommend that one to anyone with a physical handicap, heart condition, claustrophobia, or even overweight.
You can't take anything with you on the zipline/ropes course. Only if someone not on it was down below taking pictures/video.
Depending on the day, this should not be a problem. The staff is friendly and flexible and the Ropes course hasn't been very busy. You should notify them at check-in in case any exchanges are needed.
The road (Natural Bridge) is fairly long. I assume you can ride your bicycle to there, but I did not notice a bicycle rack or a place to secure it while on your adventure(s).
Unfortunately the answer is no. The trail is wet, steep, and some parts are very narrow. You're going 184ft underground and eventually walk back up a steep incline to get out
The you're are like 75 and 90 minutes long.
The caves are open daily- I've provided the website below so that you can see the schedule. Enjoy this natural wonder! https://naturalbridgecaverns.com/hours/
Nope just get there around the time the tours start so your not waiting outside in the heatv
Yes. But remember that you are going down 180 ft, and you have to come back up. Some of the pathways are a little steep and slippery. But there are handrails to hold on to, and the guide breaks the assent periodically. I am 69 years old, and slightly overweight, and I was able to handle it! Lots of fun.
As another poster said the Hidden Passages may be too much. It's 186 steps down & same back up. During that tour they stress the importance of not touching any of the formations as they are very close. If you don't mind carrying a 4 yr old up 18 stories worth of stairs then sure. The Discovery tour still has a climb but it's more gradual. There was a 5/6 yr old girl on that tour with us & she did good but was tired by the end. Plenty of other activities to do as well.
Need to contact them for additional information
There is a rather large parking area, so do not believe it should not be a problem.
You're allowed to bring bottled water and for any cave tours I would definitely be suggest it (we used a backpack) They sell water but it's about $7 a bottle.
Strollers are not allowed. They have a stroller area for them in a garage. Some areas are to small for a stoller and they have lots of stairs going down and back up. Wear shoes with lots of traction no sandles.. A baby body carrier is fine. It's hot and very humid. Bottled water is the only liquid allowed.
No. There are no underwater caverns here. Mexico has some huge caverns under water but you want to be an expert diver because it can get a little tricky.
Yeah I don't think you'd want to and they may not let you for liability. But you can go and see the beautiful natural formations a lot without paying to go into the actual underground cave entirely where it's really wet
Before I went in the caverns, the same question crossed my mind but once I went in there it's amazing. You will be fine. Take a flashlight so you will get a better view in the darker areas. Inside the light is similar to having a night light in a dark room.
Do you think Jesus is cool with that? I don't think so homie...
Depends on the day if u book online and in advance tickets may vary from $20.50 to $26.75 for adults. For kids between $13.50 to $16.75. $10 exta for maze if U like.
Its 1:30 if you stay with the group. They walk slow and stay to long in places. 45-60 minutes if you walk at a normal pace. Still worth it. Get discounts online too.
They have something called Twisted Trails Zip Rails and Rope Course. It does have some zip lines. Short description from their website: "Navigate this 60-foot high, aerial adventure ropes course that takes outdoor entertainment to a new level. Weave and wobble your way across 50 elements suspended high above the ground, then ride multiple zip rails as you fly among the treetops with views of the Texas Hill Country."
Yes you can get tickets at the door, just easier to get online you can also get same day tickets. I purchased my families tickets online an hour before going
Hour and a half.if you have any problems, they will get you out safe.super place to visit.my wife pushes a 4 wheel cart, and it worked well except for some steps.they will help you with that.
In some areas it is very small and uphill, slippery and very humid down there. I do not think friend.
Yes they allow water bottles in the caves but nothing else.
Next to each other so you can make a day out of it , but tickets separate for each attraction
We offer 10% off Cavern Tour tickets and attraction tickets purchased onsite for individuals who present a valid military ID (active, retired or dependent) or veterans with either a valid driver's license designation or DD214 form (DD214 may be a photocopy).
There are two different tours each is about an hour with light to moderate exertion, depending on your activity level, there are many many stairs, lol.
It took me about 30 min to get there from Hampton Inn on Riverwalk. Maybe add about 5 to 10 minutes from La Quinta.
Accompanied by a person to help you yes, there are prolonged ups and downs but it is worth the effort for the unforgettable beauty
The way I understood it, you had to book it once you were there in person
No, the path is short, slippery and very deep, it is recommended to wear tracking shoes instead of sneakers.
Yes, for the full tour.
Wait until you get to the caves to buy your tickets, they give Military Discounts and Triple A Members.👍
Depending on if you are in shape I would definitely say yes but if you can't walk at lest 3 miles then no. Their is many stops it's not a steady walk
Yes, an overweight person can visit and make the tour if they take their time. There is a steep incline at the end of the tour that may wear you out though
Per person and about $ 40 but includes entry to a maze that is fun and entertaining
In my opinion, dont miss the hidden passages tour if you'd like a good workout. Lots of interesting things more than the discovery tour
I'd recommend both, just did them this last weekend. But if you must pick one, Discovery had more of a "Woah" effect for me. Although, it felt shorter. Hidden passage felt longer and deeper because of all the stairs.
It's like $32. You can find deals online, since it gets expensive with a family
There are some steep dark slopes with hand rails so stroller could be a danger if slips out of your hand.
Babies are allowed, but as a previous comment mentioned, they must be carried, floor can be slick and steep, so you will need a free hand to hold onto railings when moving at times.
If they are busy you may be waiting there for a couple hours for a time slot to open up. Buying ahead guarantees your time slot.
Zip line was closed when we went and I am unsure of the discount
Kids under 2 free, veterans and senior discounts are available with proper ID
Tour is about 1.5 hrs. Totally worth it. Save 3$ by booking online
Everything is slippery and steep...steep down in and steep zigzags up....theres dripping water and some really narrow passages as well as a few stairways. Plus they are moving everyone thru pretty quickly. If you are asking about a stroller I would say definately not. If you're asking about a Bjorn or other personal pack, I would say it would be no problem at all. There's plenty of handrails. Just wear good tennis shoes and you'd be good to go.
All the tours ranges from 75-80 minutes. DSLR camera lenses will become foggy inside the cave. So, smartphone is the best device to take photographs
Yes but you have to load it, you can't use stroller.
You need a Car for sure. Or you can use Uber, Lyft.
If you order online in advance it's a little cheaper. I copied this from their website... Adult Cavern Tours from $26.75 30 SUN, DEC Adult Cavern Tours from $22.75 01 MON, DEC Adult Cavern Tours from $18.75 02 TUE, DEC Adult Cavern Tours from $17.75 03 WED, DEC Adult Cavern Tours from $17.75
And
It depends on the tour you choose. They are different prices .. That 28 dlls is very good.
Tickets vary in price depending on what package you want. Our tour was a little over $20 for just the cave tour. All the activities are cheaper when purchased in advance from their website. And trust me, after that walk, all we wanted to do is cool off and tour the gift shops! I would recommend planning a tour online, and go around October or November when it's cooler.z
23 per person for discovery tour and hidden passage tour. Discovery is preferred for first timers as it only requires to climb down 180 feet and climb back. Where as hidden passage tour requires crawling and getting wet in the mud. Both are amazing trips which is highly recommended.
The tours in the cavern are not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Stroller is great to use only around the grounds. Not allowed in the cavern.
I bought my tickets online several days prior to home for 18.99 each. The combo tour was 29.99 and o really wished o would've purchased that one.
No, I am sorry. Not at this cave.
Yes, they serve single slice pizza, chicken basket, fries, pretzels.. that type of thing.
Yes
You pay per tour not admission. It's best if you schedule at least 4 days before online. It'll be more costly if you buy closer to the day desired.
The walking tour takes you about 180 ft down. With proper footwear (rubber soles) the way down was very negotiable. There are hand rails the entire way and plenty of time to rest and explore during the 45 minute guided tour.
Keep in mind the prices are cheaper when you purchase them ahead of time online. We thought the prices where cheaper on Thursday (it was 5 or 7 days ahead of that day) it showed it at $18. So on Thursday we went online to buy the tickets and they were $24. So if you want the cheaper price you have to buy them ahead of time.
I was just there and didn't see any type of insects
The Hidden Passages tour takes about 70 minutes. The discovery tour takes about 75 minutes. We scheduled a 40 minute break between the 2, and kind of wished we would have scheduled a little longer.
We took our 3 and 2 year old boys. They loved it but it does get steep and narrow at times. There were multiple mini breaks through it which helped. Make sure they are well rested and full before.
Different prices for different excursions. Check out their website for all pricing
For those wondering, yes, they do offer a military discount.
https://naturalbridgecaverns.com/ Tickets are $24.50 day of or $22 if you buy them ahead online. They also have surface attractions - a maze, zip line, ropes course, gem/rock panning, etc
35 $ combo for 2 cave systems
Be in shape, and ready to walk a steep incline on the way out. I saw people with breathing problems, having a lot of trouble
Yes, they do give a generous military discount, although you need to show some form of ID card.
Would likely depend on how atheletic. Very steep and slippery so I would defer for a while.
There is a height limit, but children can also ride if the meet the requirements
7 per person
Uhmitsaniyah is correct. On the tours you can't touch anything. However, for children, they have bags you can purchase and sift through on site for decorative rocks. Hopefully that's helpful
I don't remember any rule against pets (I also wasn't looking for that detail). However, I would strongly suggest not regardless. The tour uses a wet sloped path, covers more than a mile, 100+ ft in elevation change, and does contain a few cramped passages. I was with a group that helped my handicapped sister through the tour without incident (she can walk up stairs, not long distances), it did take a few people helping. Totally worth the trek for the experience!
Best just to check their website directly. https://naturalbridgecaverns.com/api/tickets.php
Yes you can but they are separate fees
The guides were also good at letting you go at your own pace and waiting for those who were slower.
We did not do the zip line. I know it saves a little to purchase the tickets before you get there and to guarantee the time for the tours you want. Good luck and have fun.
Correct, there is no one price for all, though there is a combo price for the two cavern tours
We took Uber out to the caverns, we scheduled the tours online
There are restrooms in the park, but not inside the cavern.
The prices change depending on the day and which activity your wanting to do! So here's the link to their website and how much each ticket would be. Hope this helps! https://naturalbridgecaverns.com/api/tickets.php
Yes, I don't remember the height, but my friend's girl is small 6-7 years old could not climb, my 10-year-old son (normal height) could
If you are in good shape you should be able to do it. You can also take your time.
Doesn't seem that way but the reality is not much of a tour meaning you not following someone is just on certain area's someone will tell you a bit of history but the cave breathtaking go you won't regretted
I gave them $24 for ticket per person which include feed bag. If your want an extra feed bag then you need to pay $3-5 per bag.
Best thing to do is go online to the website. It will give you the price options there for the dates and times you can visit.
The rain will not affect your ability to tour the caves.
Anyone not in decent physical condition shouldn't go into the caverns. There are other things to see and do there.
In the gift shop you can buy a bag that may have something in it
Depends on what you are looking to do...they have new things to do there now that werent there a few years ago
Definitely not inside the caverns. There are some play areas outside where you might be able to have a party. Not the most ideal venue I'd say. At any rate, I'd call ahead and check with turn first.
It is privately owned and managed. Not affected with government shutdown.
No it's very tough to take the stroller even babies it's too hot inside ...For us itself while walking long distance getting leg pain even some people will get suffocation so plan accordingly..
$50.50 for 2 adults they also offer a true spelunking experience which I think is $125. this is a helmets and lights on 3hr spelunking experience!
Yes
I don't think so
There are different packages. And are dynamically priced but usually starting from $17.25. it's better to book online and save some time. https://naturalbridgecaverns.com/pricing
Very light clothing. The temp may be 70, but the humidity is what will get you 99%.
Not inside the cave you can carry water!!! Its a 70 mins trecking insise the cave..
No but there are nearby campgrounds.
If you put them in a body carrier it would be fine. I carried my 2 year old through the whole thing. He didn't want to get down.
It's pretty dark when you get deep into the cavern... it would be difficult to spot them in that situation.
Yes but bring an umbrella for the unsheltered short walk areas
in advance, it is less. The main downtown hotels have coupons too.
Yes. Last tour goes in at 7 pm. Opens at 9 am.
I would not recommend the cave tours for a 2 year old.
Depends the which tour and which day you go (lighter attendance days are cheaper). You can combine multiple tours at a discount. Tours are $20 to $25 for adults and $13 to $16 for children for a single tour. Check our pricing on their website at https://naturalbridgecaverns.com/pricing/
Definitely bring water. The humidity is 98%. Dress lite and wear comfortable non-slip shoes.
For kids under 5 is $6 and for older and adults is $20 and up to $30 depending on the package
It varies from day to day depending on what day of the week it is and if it's closer to a holiday. I highly recommend going online and pre purchasing your tickets. This will not only save you money it also save your time. I took my family of four to the caverns the thur before the 4th of July this past summer. I believe it was about $106.00 for 4 tickets that was three adults & 1 child's ticket for two of the tours. Well worth the money my family's still taking about that place.
30 each person
I think they offer seasonal sales and packages. It might not be available now. They should keep the website upto date on the current offerings..
No food nor soda in the cave only bottled water however they do have a cafe on the grounds
Prices actually range from $22-26.75 each based on date/attendance. Highest price for adults will be $26.75, but when I went just last Monday 2 of gained entry for $48 total.
If you have young kids I might recommend the discovery tour, it's a bit easier on everybody (fewer stairs, not as steep). But I learned more on the hidden passages tour, it was more guided, and the experience a bit more interactive. They keep the lights off for a few minutes unless people get uncomfortable. I think overall I would recommend hidden passages, but they're both beautiful.
No ... We did not stay in San Antonio but there is a hotel nearby, only in the park itself I did not see a hotel ...
I would say yes to be on the safe side, but more like closed toe shoes and rubber sole.
Actually we did took our 2 year old one in an umbrella stroller. There are few stairs and steep up and down hills. You have to be extremely careful with kids even with or without stroller.
Its amaze but waer light layers coupons I'm not sure about but bring an poncho because of the water that drips from the ceiling but don't worry its natural water and probably the freshest water you'll get and bring a camera or phone cause you will want to take pics there is also a place were they take a photo of you so try to look nice because you will want that photo
Not as cool as you will expect because of the humidity... we did go on a day when it had been in the 100s for a few days
if you are planning to go on a weekend it is better to buy online, the others are extra options
Very light, but no flip flops, it gets slippery inside the caverns.
Yes, but you will probably end up carrying them most of the way. It is pretty strenuous. Also, they will warn you about a dozen times that it is a felony to touch any of the natural rock formations, so keep a close eye on your child.
It is a drive through safari. It is a drive through safari.
$25. But look for coupons. Our hotel had a tour guide book with coupons
This is a few miles east of Bulverde, TX off 1863, you cannot walk to it from the River Walk, it's not in San Antonio.
There are 3 not 2. Its about 100yards
You are not permitted to ask for papers if restaraunt or museum or park it's not allowed form of discrimination. If someone says they are the service dog they are permitted in. However, there are papers and documentation on all service dogs or confort dogs that have been through intense training for blind and some disabled. You may call the park and ask them if your permitted in with a service dog. They can not refuse.clearufication if service dog yes, if my family dog no.call them ask.
I know they offered discounts for national gaurd, so there must be some sort of discount system in place.
The green light means that there are more caverns in that direction that have not yet been explored and opened up.
Definitely check their web site or call for school info. I had 4 kids with me and we had a blast on the zip lines!
Yes
It didnt cost anything to park and walk around. The activities you choose are fee based.
Yes same thing happened to us. Just have them on your phone
It's an adventure and Interesting to learn about a phenomenon of the actual cavernous space that took a very long time to be created. Also, there are spme fun things to do there. Getting the kids doing something with the family is partially what this can be too. It's just north of San Antonio towards Austin. Signs along the way. We had so much fun." Panned" for gems. There's a rock tumbler in the garage right now rolling about 20 rocks we panned there.
Yes you can but it is really very tired even for one person
The most appropriate clothing would be average summer wear such as a t-shirt and shorts Make sure to wear tennis shoes or something grippy because it is wet in some places It is 80*-85*F in side the cave with 99% humidity
Yes.. it's about min.4ft.. children must be with their parent(s) during tour.. weight restriction might be about 65lbs..
If you order your tickets online, you only have to go to the "will call" window when you get there. You shouldn't have more than 1-2 people ahead of you in line. If you wait to buy the tickets when you get there, the line can be long! There can be a 40-60 minute wait between each tour, but there's lots of things to see and do to kill time!
Yes. Please check the weather before you planning for zip lining
It would not be the most advisable due to the risk of going down to the caverns and making the trip. 😉
Inside the caverns is 70 degrees and 100% humidity. Not a cold cavern at all. Very warm
It depends really. The standard tour can take up to half an hour, but it's worth it.
Yes and No, but you can do self tour after entering the cave. No dedicated tour guide walk with you all time, just couple spots have them waiting there and talking. So you could have you own peace. You can explore the cave yourself without going on a tour, but you need to purchase the tour tickets to get in.
No, they do not open in a new year
There are several attractions at this location. Prices vary depending on what you want to do while there. Your best option is to check on the website or call them directly.
Discovery final tour is at 4pm and hidden passage at 340pm. Would suggest to check their site for updates on timings.
And
It is safe to visit and it is open but some parts of the caverns my not be completely accessable due to flooding, they do have alternative routes but it won't be the same, try to go when it doesn't rain.
Tasha, no. During the tour, I had to carry my toddler. It was a workout. I have a big stroller and a mini stroller. The caverns are slippery, high and low trails. I carried my toddler the entire tour. :( Now, you can bring a stroller and just walk around the outside (park, etc.,) but not during the tour. If that was what you were curious about. 🙏 Good luck!
It is little wet, wear proper shoes, follow guide & instructions and be in the group. It is very well organized.
