Before I went in the caverns, the same question crossed my mind but once I went in there it's amazing. You will be fine. Take a flashlight so you will get a better view in the darker areas. Inside the light is similar to having a night light in a dark room.

It is a cavern. It is like going down a tunnel for about 15 stories and coming into a huge room. I had a young nephew who seemed to be feeling closed in, but it was well lit a comfortable. The air circulation was very good. It is humid and warmer than I expected.

Not for most people. There are some areas that are a little tight. Caverns are large, but you have to go through some tight areas to get to them. Worth it though.
