Yes, not strenuous at all very easy walk. Alot of resting to learn about caverns in between. Also alot of extra stuff outside Caverns suitable for younger kids.
Yes just hour long tour
Yes as long as the kid can walk with a group
Yes. Its not a bad trip for a 5 yesr old. When you get down into the caverns there's places to sit and relax while the tour guide speaks.
Thank you all for the really useful and detailed replies. I think I rather wait another year or 2 before taking my child. I have the feeling it can be dangerous for him, he is not a very skilled walker and I can't carry him if he cant make it at the end of the walk. Thanks everybody.

Yes but like with all kids, it's difficult if they like to explore There's a lot of spots kid can fall off ledge with 20-40ft cliffs. If you go, make sure you're prepared to hold their hand or have one of them leash things some parents use. We don't use leashes because we think they look weird for kids but i think this would be a rare occasion one of those would make sense. Our 7year old did good. Our 2 and 3 year olds did good too but got fired on the last quarter mile and required a little carrying.
Yes, just at the end going back up could be very tiring but it will be such an amazing experience.
It depends on how active the 5 y.o. is. But my little niece loves caves. They will need shoes with a good grip; it can be slick in some places.
It is very humid. You will hot before you get through it.
