This park has a great doggie park where you could let your dogs run loose and swim, be careful if you have a Golden Retriever and you let him run loose to swim with all the other golden retrievers, you might not recognize yours, good thing mine recognized me LOL it also has horse stables if you're looking to ride, and camping but unfortunately it's always really hard to get a reservation for camping. And don't forget the swimming beach.

Beautiful view! The parking pad at the site is level. Very peaceful. I would definitely come back for the view.

Pretty amazing place

Yes. There is a swim area in the park. The beach has sand. The bridge should be open after construction in first part of July. This will allow easier access from camping area to the beach.
Annual pass is $70 (2018) and can be bought at any state park entrance gate, credit card payment is accepted. May be additional for the Chatfield dog park as noted by Katy King.
Yes they have 45ft and 40ft pads not including the drive ways
Yes you still have to pay a daily fee per car everyday your there
The state park has two things happening. Fishing is 24 hours while the park closes at 10pm and as long as you actively fishing you will not be bothered by rangers unless they want ronxheck license
Yes. Campground loops. As long as you pay the park entrance fee you can use any shower in the entire park. D loop is the newest camp loop and has the nicest showers 🚿
Yes!!!!
Outdoor running water along the front range will typically not be turned on until after the last freeze that "usually" comes prior to the 8th of May... I would contact the park rangers office directly for conformation.
There is an entrance on the east side of the lake that has a pay station at it.
Parked near the sand area and had a blast with all 8 kids of mine
No, they do not close the gate. You can enter either side of the park after hours.
Normally yes. Depends on fire ban. Reservations are needed if you want to camp.
I agree with Leif. But i had no problem getting Wi-Fi when i stayed there.
There is a little bit weight than usual first come first serve I suggest you get there early to get your spot.take everything you need to you might not be able to get back in.
why do people respond when they dont know the answer?... get a life people
The State park entrance for parking is $9 per car. Thr dog park area (if you walk in or bike in with you dog is only $2/day, or about $25/year and can be used at both chattfield and cherry creek offleash dog areas).
Nope... Just went today with a five person inflatable. Maybe if you have a motor, though.
Doesn't look like they have one anymore. But the one in Albuquerque starts the first weekend in October
No
Yes they have pontoons you can rent & if im not mistaken they have jet skis as well.
Sure do, be sure to pay attention for the bright orange signs indicating a partial or complete fire ban due to drought conditions
You cannot buy a camping permit at King Soopers. That information is incorrect! You can get a camping permit daily at the campground at the entrance, or at the campground office.
It is a very beautiful place, it relaxes you, hearing the water helps you with stress
Si. smallmouth bass, channel catfish, walleye, rainbow trout, bluegill and yellow perch
Yes there are some specific areas
Never warm. Jump in and out. Cold all year mostly
To my knowledge the state park lakes are stocked from resources around the state and not every year
The best way to get a csmping spot is to get online and book it through their online portal as that is about the only efficient way.
Call the ranger station. They will advise you.
They have their own off leash dog park so coat do get in and use the dog park is $13 all day.
Yes they are! We went kayaking and paddle boarding last weekend - it was great; very windy in the afternoon though!
It's open already as far as I can tell. People were on it a couple days ago when we were there and they parked somewhere!
The beach and bathrooms are open. So are the boat ramps.
The South Platte River runs through Chatfield. While you can pan for gold in the Platte, I've never of any gold having been found there.
$10.00 for a vehicle day pass or you can get an annual pass that is good for all the state parks. There are other fees listed at their website. https://cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parks/Chatfield/Pages/Fees.aspx
Yes. Lots of them. The best one is on the south side of the lake on the camping loop. It's an elevated tower with awsome views. There are tables, and a grill
$ 10.00 per car
5 a.m.
All of Colorado's State Parks require reservations for any camping sites. They are the only place in any state park where electrical supprpt is available no matter the amperage needed. Chatfield being in the Metro Area is usually booked up very early each season.
They have ponds at the dog park also. If you get caught at the reservoir with your dog off leash you'll get a ticket.
Kingfisher pond would be a good one to start at. Just stay away from the weeds.
Yes at the marina southeast part of park
Be sure to set up your flags Kimberly
Not really. They are traditional paid campsites with tents or RVs.
Gravel ponds for now, I'm sure that will be underwater in the next year or so. The water will be rising 12 vertical feet very soon.
You have to go to the dog walking Beach on the other side of the dam to swim with your dog,, they don't want dog feces on swim Beach
Yes
NO!!! This is not a trailery park!!!!! The park Rangers carry guns and the Colorado Highway State Patrol drives through their daily.
No it's still closed they barely started working on it
There is not really a walk around the reservoir, but there are plenty of hiking/walking trails to be found. Their website will have more details on the options. https://cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parks/chatfield
The boat ramp on the east side of the park is still closed. The ramp on the west side may be open. That would be my choice. Enter park from Wadsworth Blvd.
I suggest you contact the Colorado State Park and ask them.
They do have over night camping. They are willing to answer any question at the gate when you check in the park.
Go to the colo state park internet page. You can reserve those kinds of things on-line.
If you want to fish in the lake, getting a boat is the best way
YOU CANNOT LIVE HERE. 14 DAYS PER YEAR MAX. DRIVERS LICENSE VERIFICATION
Sail boats, paddle boarding and canoes will take over the majority of the water next season. As for the zone for motorized boats, it will be a much smaller zone for when they finish the re-build of the park. An extremely busy body of water in the warmer seasons!
$8 park entry You must have a fishing license Currently most of the shores are not accessible due to all the trees being removed, roads being relocated and general construction which is 24 hrs a day The park rangers check everyone for valid licenses
Yes you can have a campfire in the fire pit that they provide at the campsite
. ?????
Yes
Just last weekend they closed access to the marina on the south side so there is no easy access to fishing on that side. There are supposed to walleye around the northeast. I used to have luck catching trout where the river comes into the reservoir. The north side is good in the afternoons. There are bass and perch along with catfish too.
I think they have some spaces for it. If they do, is very limited and usually booked, a year in advance. To get a spot, you have to call and reserve(If they do). Haven't been there in several years, so it could be different, now.
Which loop are you staying
What is known as the "swim beach", which is the large sand beach near the main entrance of the park is not open. Sadly it wont be open until 2019. If you have a minute you can check out the Chatfield State Park website and there is a link to the construction updates. Its actually a really robist websites that will give you lots of info and details about the capitol improvements they are making in the park.
If you camp there they don't charge to dump.... most sites are full hookup. Most Cabelas have a dump station for $5 if that helps.
We left today, you could use their fire pits and bring propane grills.... we used charcoal in the fire pit and saw several sites with fires
Sorry Bernadine, I don't see the previous question.
Looks like about 20 miles.
It's $8 daily but much cheaper to get the yearly windshield sticker, overall. AND it's good for all state parks! Happy exploring 😁
You can no longer make online changes. You have to call the 800 number and are at the mercy of the mood of the lady that picks up the phone, and is generally unpleasant and unfriendly. I've had to do it 3 times this year and it's a nightmare. Good luck
No, you cannot paddle board after 7 pm. Also if you were to do it at night you would be subject to boating laws requiring radios and lights.
Somewhere near 196. D loop is the best one for shade. Uoull need to make reservations far in advance. A loop is farthest from the boat storage area. ( Noisy)
Definitely not. This is a park that will not even allow any type of motorized scooter or electric kids rideable toys.
This is NOT a trailer park. It is hourly patrolled by Park Rangers with guns and State Patrol.
h
The park is always open, except half is closed now for major construction. At least one campground is always open. You will need to look up Chatfield on the state park site for campground rates.
it is 8 dollars for a park pass. I'm not sure what over night's cost. I believe your 8 dollars will cover it. However not 100% sure. Call the park to be on the safe side
3 to 4 in to thin to feel safe all on the south end near fisherman's cove so be careful
How many campers and tents are allowed at a group site? And what is the cost?
Yes there is a beautiful reservoir with beach. For the summer of course!
Your pup is welcome throughout the entire park - trails, open spaces, camping loops and in the water !
