The South Platte River runs through Chatfield. While you can pan for gold in the Platte, I've never of any gold having been found there.
No ma'am.. No water that runs through there. Only ponds.

Great book for learning to pan gold in Colorado: FINDING GOLD IN COLORADO BY KEVIN (forgotten his last name but I believe it starts with an S). There are so many rules (like can you use a generator at this place but not at another place, things that can get you ticketed if you break a rule, they don't play). And how to find out if panning is legal where you wanted to go. A lot of rules and this book will easily guide you! I refer to my copy often!
