Cool exhibits and amazing staff. The tour guide for the U-boat was knowledgeable and friendly.
Ron Allen
If you go online you can save money
Joshua Weaver
It was fun, but there were lots of exhibits and displays that were closed. Also, thought it could have been more interactive for adults.
Oleh Slobodian
For science lovers and simply curious people, this is an incredible museum. Here you can see how various natural phenomena are formed, models of ships, plane sections, the structure of the human body. There are many layouts on which you can try everything yourself (create a tsunami, for example). The territory is huge, so it is worth allocating a whole day)
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
MSI is free for IL residents every weekday (M-F) of September 2017.
12.95 for children at the ticket window, 10.95 if you ourchase online. There is now senior admission rate. Adult admission is 21.95 and 19.95, respectively.

No but there may be an interactive on there web sight or perhaps a video for sale.
Yes, but there aren't lockers, so you'll have to carry it the whole time.
They have their own food court. They for a fact have kid meals and prices are somewhat reasonable
Yes! Also make sure to check out inside cause they have ACTUAL German ships that have been abandoned because people where attacking them!(Sry if I spoiled anything)
There's a restaurant open in the museum. I recommend Medici restaurant for breakfast to go on the way
https://www.msichicago.org/visit/ticket-prices/offers-and-discounts/illinois-free-days/ 52 of them if you are an Illinois resident 😎
Science Storms, U 505, You the Experience
I don't remember seeing a specific computer exhibit. The museum is massive and well worth the time and money spent. I went as a chaperone with my granddaughter's fifth grade class so I am sure there was much I didn't see due to time constraints. The exhibits I saw were amazing.
Yes it is , but you need to pay if want to take a tour inside , it's worth it if you haven't been there
Ana. Yes a and below the museaum. It's $ 22.
Yes they have student discount, military, resident & Link card discount.
There are lots of interactive science exhibits. Landslide demonstrations, tornado cylinder., magnet train transport display. I enjoyed learning about nature with my son. The large scale diorama of Chicago⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Worth the visit.
http://bfy.tw/Mrlt Google is your friend.
Most exhibits were you have to pay will have the price at the door.
There were multiple playing. We saw the Deep Blue Sea
19.95 and 10.95 for adults and children respectively

Sept .4-6,10-13,17-20,24-27
Train station is only about a 5 minute walk to museum. Just be advised, if you take the train into the city, you'll have to walk from Ogilvie or Union Station to Millennium Station to get on the train that goes to the museum.
Yes!
There are handicapped parking spots in the underground parking garage as well as elevators to get to every part of the museum
Yes!
$22 in the garage and outside the garage on the east side of the muesuem parking is $16.
Yes you can but it's a separate ticket and fee. Worth it if you love subs.
(For the museum +3) Adults:$55.95 when purchased online. kids:$37.95 when purchased online.
Individual tickets for the exhibits. There are a few exhibits you go get tickets for while you are there and those are free like the hall of mirrors and toy factory. The toy factory has been closed the last two times I was there and I went in February and June. Still so much to do!
Had provided vaccination information upon entering as requested.
You can't purchase in advance. You show up with your EBT, and it's called a 'Museums For All' ticket....they will issue them for you and your group as long as there is space available that day.
Parking in Chicago is expensive, you're better off taking a train or plane and just buying a $5 CTA pass and go anywhere and everywhere you want on public transport.
This museum will absorb as much of your time and attention as you can spare. It cannot all be done in one day. But I would not go unless I was prepared to spend 4 or 5 hours.
The grounds belong to the Chicago Park District, so you'd have to check with them.
The ones in "You!: The Exhibit" are real, yes. There are plaques underneath them that explain more information.
They didn't check my Id at all last week when I was there. I didn't drink or anything tho
You can easily find free parking on the many side streets just a few blocks away
Reserve the tickets..staff is very helpful if you call the..also you can touch with them through email
You must reserve tickets in advance. They have limited museum capacity for COVID safety precautions
Yes they do.
When we were there the other day, the counter was closed where you can get a stroller. I'm not sure if wheelchairs are in the same spot, so like Chris said, I'd maybe call ahead to check.

I don't believe so.
You go to their web site and scroll down. It will have a list. All school holidays are included.
There is available, for members is free...best option is to use an Uber
No...... street parking on the other side of Cottage grove
WWII captured German U-boat, believe it's 571 - you can also check on their website
There are 52 free days a year, but only for Illinois residents.
Please be aware that while the museum has free days (see the link posted by Owen Mech), not all exhibits are free no matter what day you visit
Daniel is right, but do not forget to take your driver's license because you have to prove that you are a resident of the city. Better visit the Chicagi history museum on the AVE. North and LSD. Tuesdays are free and if you go by train or bus you do not have to pay the 20 parking fees.
We parked in the back I'm not sure what lot it is. Parking was 2$ an hour.
No. The closest buses are routes 6, 10, 15, 28, and 55. If you're coming from downtown, I recommend either 6 (Jackson Park Express) or 10 (MSI)
If you want to see the inside, you have to pay extra. Otherwise, you can just see the outside
Can you use a ebt card from Indiana to get in the museum?
https://www.msichicago.org/visit/ticket-prices/offers-and-discounts/ This page explains you can bring 6 kids (under 18) and 2 adults. Bring an EBT or WIC card. Also a photo ID.
Yes.
If you go on their website and sign up they will send you a calander of their free days. I just typed in science and industry free days and followed the prompts. They are not every week but there are several a year
The garage was nice but a little pricey
Show an EBT card and photo ID for free Museum Entry tickets. https://www.msichicago.org/visit/ticket-prices/offers-and-discounts/ Through the Museums for All program, MSI offers free Museum Entry to individuals and families—regardless of state residency—presenting an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card or a Women, Infants and Children (WIC) card, along with a photo ID. Each cardholder is entitled to free Museum Entry* tickets for up to two adults and up to six children (under 18). Advance reservations are not available for Museums for All.
If you pay in person/at the museum and your NOT a MSI member, the fees are: $21.95 for an adult and $12.95 for kids. If you purchase the tickets on their website: https://tickets.msichicago.org/visitors you will save $2.00 off of each ticket. If you have a paid membership then you know the fees involved if any.
I could not tell you
in public transport take a bus that goes by the 55 is the route 6
Very nice for all the age kids.. mirror maze, farm and chicken are very interesting
No specific dates yet but for sure June will have free days.
MSI members at Dual and Family Levels receive free or discounted admission to more than 300 Association of Science and Technology Center (ASTC) museums around the world, and members at all levels receive 50% off general admission to several museums in Illinois and Wisconsin. Also know there are no reciprocal admission benefits between MSI and Field Museum, Adler Planetarium or Shedd Aquarium.
Look at the website? Depends on a lot of different factors like age and if you want to see specific exhibits 🙄
Not sure. Give them a call.
I'm pretty sure it does.
You can look for discounts at Groupon or similar services like I did
When the museum has free days you need an ID for proof of residency Any one from Any state that is on any type of government assistance may also get free admission regard less of the day Not all exhibits and attractions are open (Old fashion car photo & ice cream parlor) Found that out the hard way yesterday That being said the museum was empty and absolutely great for people with little children Enjoy!
The Museum of Science AND Industry is one of Chicagos best tourist stops for education, fun interactive exhibits that you couldnt possibly take in during one trip. Ive lived in Chicago for over 50 years and I can say there's always something new at MSI. You have to just go! From textiles, transportation and coal to baby chickens being hatched b4 your eyes and standing inside tornados! U will experience nothing like this anywhere.
I don't know about the mirror maze but I do know they have free days at times but there during the week and they do have wheelchairs that somebody can help you around with an elevators that they never had before I do know they have a senior in senior admissions
Call them and find out. I believe it's not a problem Good luck
The Zephyr is accessible before the museum opens each day and even before you purchase tickets. Only parts of it were open on Tuesday. It is under refurbishing currently.
Parking is divided into sections. We went on a Wednesday so the parking wasn't bad. We parked at a lot off of lake shore dr. Behind museum and it costed $10.35 for 4 hours. Thats great compared Washington D.C. Also, get the park mobile app. There was a line on one ticket parking booth and my wife and I download and app called Park mobile. We paid online and could monitor when our time was running out. If you require any additional info like me know.
It varies depending on what you want to see. I would say around $50 per person would allow you to see the top attractions.
The base admission offer so much to see and do you will not be disappointed all the extra IMAX and Exhibits are just extras you'll be very pleased with the base admission especially if your first time there it's so overwhelming there is so much to see and do you will not be disappointed
Yes, wheel available for disabled person at no cost, public elevators available for easy entry
$22 in the garage, $18 Outdoor Lot, other street parking close by available
The 6, 2, 28, & 10. Check with CTA first. Some of these bus routes don't run on the weekends.
I do not think they have a specific senior discount. They so have Illinois free days throughout the year. Memberships can also include visiting grandparents if that were to apply at all to a similar situation.
$22 for adults and $13 for kids ages 3-11. Kids 2 and under are free. You can also add extras to the ticket in order to tour the inside of the U-571 submarine and other attractions and movies. https://www.msichicago.org/visit/tickets/
Yes, in fact the day I went there was a quote free day however even on a free day the biggest and best exhibits still have a charge. The free day seems to save about $15 if you spend the money on the larger attractions anyway. However the freed they has plenty of free attractions to spend a full day at. Be advised though free day is the busiest most packed and least Pleasant time to view the museum
https://www.msichicago.org/support/membership/membership-levels/ There are lots of different membership levels, you can see them and the prices at the site linked above. .
$12.95 for ages 3-11.... But you can save $2 if you purchase online
Until January 6, 2019
Yes, there are a lot of hands on activites, but there is a lot of stuff to read as well
9 miles, about 25 mins
It shouldn't. Depends on the location of the March and if the streets are cleared properly by police.
Tours depart every 15 minutes. This exhibit requires an additional ticket with a specified entry time, you can purchase the tickets online since U-505 get booked up. The tour last roughly about 25 minutes.
I saw someone with a green tree beside a mold o roma yesterday. Main level by the extreme ice exhibit. 12/22/17
Ita on Google first page when you search comed event 2022
I saw the place near by the museum where we can park the buses probably you need to call them for timing
I just went like last week with no ticket reservation. Me and my family just walked right up and bought tickets to get into the museum right on the spot.
Call museum for instructions
No
Once you get up the big escalator take a right don't go up the little one and it's past a temporary exhibit that's going to be in white it might still be black architecture but it's right after that exhibit and it's the steering wheel
July 14, August 11, September 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, 29-30, October 27, November 3, 10, 17 and December 8
Personal choice I guess and being Phase 5; plus they probably got vaccines.
Are you in Chicago? If so, yes. You would have to change a couple buses and a train ride.
No. However, Masks, sanitizer, spacing & no touch sites are implemented.
https://www.msichicago.org/visit/ticket-prices/offers-and-discounts/illinois-free-days/
It's open Wednesday thru Sundays ...
The museum recently reopened & only the first ten days were free for this month. If you have an arts & culture program from chase that will allow you in free as you mentioned, you still would need to go on the museum website & register for a certain time & date to arrive, which is required upon entering
Not yet
You should be able to see that on the campus map. You can find this map on the Museum's website.
The Museum of Science and Industry is free for Illinois residents with valid ID on the following dates in 2020: January 6-9, 13-16, 20-23, 27-30. February 3-6, 10-13, 18-20, 24-27.Jul 22, 2019,
This MSI members-only event takes place on February 15 at 7:30 a.m.
There is quite a lot at MSI that a three-year-old can enjoy. Just a few recommendations: Numbers in Nature: A big walk-through mirror maze! The Great Train Story: Massive model train landscape with lots to see, even sights just for toddler eye-level. The Idea Factory: Play area for kids with water streams, big soft shape toys, and other simple-machine experiments. Take Flight (aka the 727): Sitting in real airplane seats is surprisingly fascinating. Genetics and the Baby Chick Hatchery: Watch baby chicks hatch out of their shells. Farm Tech: Drive a big combine tractor. (Ok - pretend to drive in front of a movie screen.) All these are included in Museum Entry. Idea Factory and Numbers in Nature just require a timed ticket you can get at the Museum. Hope you have a fun adventure!
Most parking garages have hight restrictions. I was just making sure....
Im not sure you will have to call them snd ask
Depends on what you want to see! Ticket prices can be found here: https://tickets.msichicago.org/tickets
Nope
They normally allow bags so I think it is possible. Or you could leave it in the reception
Also, if you have bank of America account, you can go 8n for free on the first full weekend of each month.
No, it is cost $12.95 for ages 3-11 and adults $21.95. Members get in free.
Yes, but it's mostly for older children. There's a lot of reading. Also it can be costly.
The MSI FAQ has August 26-28 posted as free days for Illinois residents.
I don't know but here's their website: msichicago.org/
There is, but it is an extra charge once you are there or when you purchase your ticket.

Yes I think i did ser Manu school groups. You need call. Tere is special prise for school groups. The standard cost is 35 USD pero adul. But i think for groups is les cost per individual.
I'm not sure but you're best off getting the city pass and you can go to a whole bunch of places at less than 50% price
They do this in the name of Science. To record the reactions of consumers. You would not believe what comes out if you request a milky way!
The admission includes all the museum exhibits and regular events. The movie and special exhibits, science programs etc are additional. These can be included (including entry times for some events) during check out. Using the plan my visit site from the museum webpage can be very helpful to figure out final ticket prices.
MSI, Alder Plan. & Aquar are all located within the Musuem Campus. All are open daily. Parking for a fee is available but avoid lines and fees by using public trans. Also, lockers and lunch areas are nice. Check for free days to IL residents. Enjoy!
The Museum óc Science and industry opens all day of week
There are certain free days each month. This month is free from 21-24 and 28-31. I will have from 930-530. You can bring your own food. For example, if you bring children, bring sandwiches etc.
I didn't see it
Above the entrance inside or outside? Are you talking about "Science discerns the laws of nature. Industry applies them to the needs of man." That inscription is at the very entrance to the main rotunda.
Please call and see about fee
The web site says they have a limited number of regular and double strollers for rent. You need a picture ID and the regular stroller is $3 and the double is $5.
$20/adult. I *think* 3 and under are free.
MSI is closed Christmas and Thanksgiving. It is open every other day of the year.
Call there during business hours. Check the website because there are free days.
No
Yes, the tree lighting is daily at 10. And if you check the website, it will give the events and performances for the weekends. They are representing the different cultures in dances and performances throughout the holiday season.
Check indeed or their website.
How long does it take? The less stuff you have, the quicker.
One day for sure !
Not that I could find, but you can save $3 for adults & $1 for kids when purchasing tickets online.
21 dollars
Yes wheelchairs are available
Museum entry is free (paid exhibits still cost extra) for Illinois residents on Sept 4–5, 10–12, 17–19, 24–26. Entry is also free for anyone each Sunday in Sept, with a limited number of free tickets to the Science Behind Pixar exhibit available if you book online.
22 adults...13 kids..under 3 yrs old...free....certain exhibits are extra
Very interactive! It's the best museum experience you'll probably ever have!
Hi, Mary active duty military personnel and veterans receive free Museum entry for themselves - see more msichicago.org/visit/faq/
Yes
I bought the citygo pass, that gave us admission +2 other things in the museum to see. This also gives us passes into 5 or 6 other locations in the city for the same money I would have spent getting into just the museum. Look into it online and you are able to use it phone for your tickets (plus there are special lines for citygo that put us ahead in line when getting into the museum). It was worth every penny!
It's $19.95 if you purchase the tickets online; $21.95 if you purchase the tickets at the door.
It's about 31.95 per adult and 19.95 per child. Under age 11 city pass 109.00 per person kids 89.00 for city pass for 9 days. Get 5 rhings in total with city pass. Hope this helps!
Museum parking is really the cheapest.
There are several levels of entry fee that include more options. Best to check their website. I think it was $24 for regular exhibit halls and one optional experience, and $11 additional for PIXAR special exhibit. We took Uber, so idk about parking.
I have a family of six so its always cheaper to get a yearly membership, and you cant see everything in one day, parking is$20, and i believe its $15 per adult and half of that for kids
Parking? Yes.
Closes when the museum closes
On the side of the museum. Pay at the meter.
I would presume so. There is an app that will tell you where those are in relationship to your location if you ever need one.
Great place no matter the age. My 14 son has been there 5 times and still wants to go back
I did not see a place you could check your suitcase. However, I didn't see anyone carrying a suitcase.
No, but they offer manual powered wheelchairs and strollers
Adults $21.95, children $12.95. under 3 is free. $2 cheaper if you buy online ahead of time. Parking is extra. If you plan on visiting multiple museums within a 9 day span, the city go pass is the beat deal.
Adult
Tale the bus , there are. A few routes tja5t leave you right in front?
Adult $21.95, Child (3-11) $12.95. Additional charges for U505 on board tour (recommend this), coal mine exhibit, dome theater films (not recommended), fab lab, and future energy chicago exhibit.
When you're coming from downtown. Bus 10 takes you right to the museum. Service from North Michigan Avenue to Museum of Science & Industry via express, from Memorial Day thru Labor Day, only.
That's a great question. I am not sure, but would love to hear the answer if someone kmow?
I honestly cannot answer that question you would probably have to call them and ask every time I have went there I was fortunate enough to go with a school or a group. I'm sorry I was unable to help good luck in finding your answer. It definitely is a must see place, and plan a whole day it is wonderful there's so much to explore!
Parking garage is $22. It's also free if you leave within an hour, assuming you got stuck going down that way.
When there's free days, only admission to the Museum is free, but you still have to pay to get in the Exibits.
Shed is about a 10min drive north maybe longer on weekends due to traffic @15mins.
4-7, 11-12 of june
So, it's not just Toy Story. There are tons of cool parts of this special Science behind Pixar experience. Worth the $
The best bus to take is the #6 express bus south. It runs express from downtown to the general area of the museum.

It's probably only the one museum day.
It reviews everything in our worls regarding science and industry. If you visit one museum this has to be it. See the only U-Boat ever captured, see how a coal mine works, see how manufacturing lines work and make YOU a gyroscope for $5. See a tesla coil blast bolts of lightning and hear it's power, see airplanes, automobiles, trains, and spacecraft! More to see than hours in a day!
If I am not mistaken kids 12 and older are considered under the adult ticket price of about $20. The museum has discounts for students (w/ ID) however and Illinois residents.
The museum will open at 9:30AM every day and remain open til 5:30PM Friday, 9PM Saturday, and 4PM Easter Sunday
Per their website, they can provide that information.
I believe for Chicago residents.
I overheard a customer service rep in line that their existing membership would be prorated and they would receive a credit towards an upgraded membership.
On their website it says all active members and veterans are free, always. I would call ahead to make sure you bring the proper ID for proof.
If you mean like Amtrak..the closest station would be Union Station,
Yes totally fine
Do you prefer fish in a noisy location, cool things in a noisy location, or a quiet place to do your studying? Depending on your preference you've got Shedd Aquarium, Museum, or library.
Not for sure I did see people with their own personal one
I agree with above
The coat check will hold everything for you
Family of 4 with parking over $100, plus any extras! Well worth it!
There are 52 free days per year for Illinois residents. The next few are March 14, June 4-7, and June 11-12.
When h@#$ freezes over I bet.
If you have a membership parking is free.
Hello, Mr. Cowell! According to the museum's website, the following are always free: U.S. military personnel and veterans, Illinois POW's, Chicago firefighters, Chicago police officers, and Illinois teachers (pre-K through 12th grade) receive free Museum entry for themselves by showing a valid occupational or military status ID when purchasing tickets on-site. If you're a member of an Association of Science- Technology Center located more than 90 miles from the museum, you are eligible for free entry for 2 adults and all children under 18 and an additional guest. You must present your Science Center's membership card with an ASTC logo to redeem this benefit. I'm a veteran but I still had to pay for parking so keep that in mind.
no, you have to pay
You cannot visit the whole museum in a day..need minimum 2 days if you want to see all the exhibits
No. You do not need to provide any proof of who you are to get into the building during normal business hours. You may be asked for your id if you pay with a cc to compare your name to the name on the card. (This is standard practice.)
No food allowed in the museum. There is a specified sitting area with tables where you can eat what you bring or buy there.
The January free dates are the 8th–11th, 15th-18th, 22nd-25th, and 29th-31st. You need proof of residency to get in.
Call the museum and ask
Yes...but if you go on the Submarine tour they'll ask you to refrain from taking lots of vids or pics.
They change sometimes for the new year, best place to get that info is on their web page.
It's $22. Free if youre there under 60 minutes, i believe. Otherwise it's $22 for the day. Totally reasonable for Chicago .
The museum is open until 5:30 pm, the submarine is open until museum hours, but if you want to pay for the tour it's 30 or 35 min long.
All times are online and so are all the tickets
It's free if you teach in Illinois and bring your school ID.
You can also get a membership that lasts all year but you do have to pay for some places like brick by brick lego .
You should plan on arriving as early as possible, and plan what you may want to see. During the winter months the museum closes at 4 PM. But during certain days like between Christmas and New Years, the museum closes at 5:30. Check the website for times.
They do have employee discount. I think intern may be counted as employee. You could have your supervisor check for you.
MY mom is a Senior & she had to pay full "Adult" price.
On Jan.2, 2018, I was told they hadn't had lockers for many years. There is a coat check for $3 per item (coats, backpacks)
No it is not, unless you are in a group or field trip.
Right now it should be dream big and the Amazon. Dream big is on all the great building accomplishment in the world. Amazon is on the Amazon jungle. Either one is great for kids. One is more engineering base and the other is more animal and conservation based.
Its totally free.... With the link card.. two adults 4 kids
Check the website for the free days, but beware, the museums are usually crazy on the free days. If you are an educator, general admission is free. But you still have to pay for the extra exhibits.
No they don't have wings fries i belive they do
Their website or service desk probably has all of that.
There's a food court that has a wide variety of Food Options. Pricy but good.
There's parking right there at the museum. Not free. On weekends, there are some options in the city where you can park for a fixed amount, say $10 for the whole day.
i am not sure..o would give them a call
There is an underground parking structure. $22 daily rate.
If there is, and very tasty food. I go to the Museum every Thursday. There is food inside this place, and it is very good.
