Parking is divided into sections. We went on a Wednesday so the parking wasn't bad. We parked at a lot off of lake shore dr. Behind museum and it costed $10.35 for 4 hours. Thats great compared Washington D.C. Also, get the park mobile app. There was a line on one ticket parking booth and my wife and I download and app called Park mobile. We paid online and could monitor when our time was running out. If you require any additional info like me know.
Parked on the lake side of the museum, Friday, for $2/hour.
The onsight parking is nice in the winter, it is underground and divided in half by a hallway that holds a train that is on display. There are 3 levels, color coded, it is very convenient to leave your coats in the car and walk a very short distance to the grand entrance hall where the tickets are purchased. The parking is $22.00. When you return to the car in the winter it is still rather comfortable.
Onsite parking available for $22. Parking is underground.
