Hello, Mr. Cowell! According to the museum's website, the following are always free: U.S. military personnel and veterans, Illinois POW's, Chicago firefighters, Chicago police officers, and Illinois teachers (pre-K through 12th grade) receive free Museum entry for themselves by showing a valid occupational or military status ID when purchasing tickets on-site. If you're a member of an Association of Science- Technology Center located more than 90 miles from the museum, you are eligible for free entry for 2 adults and all children under 18 and an additional guest. You must present your Science Center's membership card with an ASTC logo to redeem this benefit. I'm a veteran but I still had to pay for parking so keep that in mind.
