Check the website for the free days, but beware, the museums are usually crazy on the free days. If you are an educator, general admission is free. But you still have to pay for the extra exhibits.
If you are an university student or faculty you get discount
These are the following free days for Illinois residents only: January 10-12, 16-19, 24-26, 31. February 1-2, 7-9, 14-16, 21-23, 28. June 5-9, 12.
There are also free passes available at every CPL branch, but as they are popular I would advise calling your local library to check current availability since they are frequently checked out
If you go to the MSI website, they just posted the free days for 2018...actually every Chicago museum has posted their free 2018 days...these are for IL residents only...but I believe there is a free week in February for all residents...
