Very nice, inexpensive place for my doggies needs

I like this adoption center. The employees and volunteers are extremely helpful and I like that everything is extremely straightforward. If you have a valid I.D., valid payment, and a good home to provide for the animal that you are interested in, then it's possible to adopt. You don't need an appointment and you don't need to bring every single family member living in your home with you. I went to a different humane society the other day and they were not only expecting you to make an appointment at this location but they also expected you to bring every single person that lives in your home with you to see how they interact with the animal right then and there. I understand what that place is trying to do but I don't think they are going about it the right way (but that's just my opinion). It's a difficult situation for me because I have a teenager who doesn't want to ride everywhere with Mom anymore and they won't be living in my house much longer anyways so I don't really see why that's relevant. I'm adopting for my youngest to grow up with an animal. The older one has already been there, done that. I've adopted plenty of pets in my lifetime and never did it matter that I didn't have everyone in my house with me. The pets always had a great home and the people living in it always treated those animals wonderfully. Some things take time. There is an adjustment period and you're not always going to be able to figure out every little thing all in one visit. We liked it though. It was clean and the animals there seem to be well cared for. I'm going back at the end of the week to try to adopt. We couldn't be more excited! I would definitely recommend this facility if you're looking to adopt.
All Natural
Beautiful facility and very service oriented / informative lady who was at the front desk. I apologize I do not remember her name, but she did advise that I could check with CMPD Animal Care and Control at 8315 Byrum Dr. I went to the wrong facility. LOL.

I have 4 cats & a puppy. All have been spayed and neutered here. All have received their vaccines and been microchiped here. I have never had an issue. All employees are sweet, caring, understanding, and respectful. I am so grateful for the Humane Society 💜
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
16 with a parent , 18 on your own
Kittens are always needing a good home! There are lots to adopt. Just be aware little ones do need to be spayed oe neuteted.
Yes, they take them. They will be sure to find her the perfect home. Three of our last four pets we have adopted from them. Each time the dog or cat we went to adopt was not the one we took home, because it was not the best fit for them or us.
The voucher is probably for the spay and neuter clinic right next door to the humane society. $70 should almost cover the whole procedure if not all of it.
Call animal control or sheriff in your area ASAP!
You must call ahead to see if they are able to accept. The fee was fifty bucks.
Shelters post a wish list on their website and on amazon. Its super easy to donate!
They don't take strays. And intake appointments are usually booked about 3 weeks out. Call around to see about a cat rescue.
Fill out the application and they call you to make an appointment
you can call , tell them what you want, use their website and then make an appointment.
No I mean a human go visit the adoptable animals because human cannot currrently adopt but would like to be part of an enriching visit for the animal
I have a yorkiepoo that I can’t take care anymore I’m going to college and she’s looking for a home. She’s 4 months
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Animal Care & Control 8315 Byrum Dr, Charlotte, NC 28217
Yes. The facility offers a spay and neuter clinic. Please contact them for rates and availability.
I don't know ... ? Good Question
This is not animal control. These two facilities work together. Surrendering a dog to AC is not the same process as surrendering to this Humane Society. Please call ahead ti see if the have a space for the dog. There is a fee.
Does animal control use volunteers in their kitty nursery?
Hi Addison. We are unable to deliver dogs. In order to adopt an animal from the Humane Society of Charlotte, we require that interested parties come to the shelter, meet the animal and spend time bonding with it prior to adoption. If you have any questions about our process, then please call our main phone line. Thank you
Yes its the same you need yo ask when you arrive
You have to go to the website and make sure you follow the required steps...they won't just take an animal if you bring it there. They have to assess the dog at an appointment, normally there is a surrender fee
I know they could use all of what u listed u can also call them in am they arent so busy and they would probably tell u yes to all u have to offer they r very kind and friendly even to all animals we brought our adopted dog by to visit and all the help there came out to visit .
I'm not sure, this is not a clinic or normal vet. It is a shelter. If you have medical supply, for a pet you got from there, that needs to be picked up they will give it to you without an appointment. To make sure call them
You have to call them for an appointment
Hi Lexi, we do our best to get photos of our adoptable animals on the website as soon as possible. As our staff is responsible for taking and uploading these photos, depending on their workload, this can take a few hours. Thanks for your understanding!
Adoption fees are based on a number of factors such as age, size, breed, and temperament. We have a variable fee structure— this is to ensure that we create a financial legacy for those animals in our care who are in need of expensive lifesaving medical and behavioral intervention. Our adoption fees alone will not cover the cost associated with caring for our animals. It is through the generous support of the community that we are able to continue our lifesaving work and place more pets in homes each year. Please consider making an additional donation at the time of your adoption to support our life-saving work.
Only dogs and cats, you can find foster rabbits from the "house bunny society". CMPD has them occasionally
I haven't adopted a pet there but I visited a pet that I want to adopt. They said when I have everything ready for him that I can call them and tell them I've already met the dog and I'm coming to get him
Yes, an appointment is needed to adopt. If you need animal traps, I have walked in without an appointment to borrow them. They will gladly loan you traps with a credit or debit card on file. Please return them within 10 (ten) days or it is a $75 charge.
Usually, yes
You have to go down to their location and physically complete an application.
Hello - could you elaborate? Apologies. I'm unsure what your question is.
We sure can. You can also take it to any vet office.
Yes you can go online..
Give them a call. If they don't they will know someone who does.
They will do vaccines for your pet. The prices are on the website. Extremely reasonable.
I am not sure. Email volunteer coordinator.
Hi Janet - we do not euthanize animals for the public. We would recommend seeing your vet for this service as they can discuss other options as well.
8 weeks old
Hi Brandie. We understand it can be frustrating to try to get through to our team during our busy hours. Perhaps I can help direct you to the right person, what type of information do you need?
https://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org/health-wellness/vaccines-microchips/
Yes, the organization will be building a new facility and they are breaking ground very soon. They've been fundraising for the new facility for yearssss. It will take a while to build. There are not multiple locations of the Humane Society of Charlotte as the last person said. They may be thinking of the spay/neuter clinic that HSC co-sponsors with CMACC at the government shelter.
On their website for critter care, you can schedule an appointment however it may be a while before you're able to get one. If you have an urgent issue, Stand For Animals is an excellent source and they are VERY affordable! Check them out online, they have a few convenient locations.
I am not 100% sure about that You might need to call them. If he's already been going there for the longest time then they already have you in the system. I would give them a call
That's impossible. Volunteers are very restricted. For more information regarding volunteering, just look on their website.
Contact the Humane Society for more details on intake or your local Animal Shelter.
Yes, they will take him.
Yes, call 311 and ask for animal control.
I believe this clinic can assist with surrendering pets. Or call 311 for Animal Control.
No not at the Humane Society but you could post if somebody wants some new pets for free💬💛
Their website is current with available dogs.
Yes. We had appointment at noon and left at 2pm with the puppy
No, there is still a fee to rescue puppies. You can look on the website for adoption fees or call them
Please lookup the Charlotte Humane Society. All the information you need is on their page. Kitty has probably been sleeping on a car tire or by the engine to stay warm therefore the smell like that. Keep it in a bathroom til you get it situated. Please don't leave it outside if you can help it.
No, you have to take them to the shelter..they have specific times for that.
Yes. They are always wanting volunteers.
call the animal shelter right then & There, When U see the animal..Don't try to approach the animal, Cuz U don't know if the animal got a disease -or- Not. So please don't approach the animal..And also U don't know if the animal will bite U -or- Not. Just get on your cell phone inside your car & call the animal shelter N Charlotte, And call them & let them know where U see the animal at, And if U want 2Stay right there & Wait on them, Then U can do so..But just give them the whereabouts On where the animal is, And they can cum & pick the animal up..You don't need -or- have to call me, I don't work at the animal shelter working with animals at all. Just do as I just delayed 2U, On what U should do..So please don't forget These safety tips, On what I just gave U, On what you should do When U see a hurt animal -or- A stray animal.HAV-GUD-DAY. (CEECEE).
If you're planning on adopting one of the animals, And you want to see how well the dog is going to interact with you, Then yes You're allowed to play with one of the pets, That you're going to choose to live with you at your home.
18 & Up..If your 17 & down..Your parents-or-Some1 that's some kin 2U,-or-A friend that's older than 18 can adopt the dog that U like 2Have..Butt B4 yur friend get the dog tat U like 2Have.. your friend with first have to ask your parents to see if it is okay that you can have a dog.. how to see if it's all right with your parents that they would want to have a dog on their property.
No idea. Unless a Google search is successful; it's best to ask onsite.
No..I'm sorry!!.I'm not an animal adoption agency..I'm just a regular non-professional human.
Put short advertisement in newspaper About the dogs And put age range & Your phone number, In which you want them to contact you.only give out address if they are for sure that they want to buy your dog's, Not if they're not for sure That they don't want to buy them. Don't ever put your address in a newspaper ad,
Where I live, I can't have pets, at all..Or I will have to move out, That's what was told to me. And if I have to move, I'll have nowhere else to go to live.if I could I would take one of them but sorry I can't take that chance on having nowhere to stay..Best of luck On finding them a good family to take them To give them the kind of love they deserve.
Legally I cànt say mostly what I know is food, water and shelter is what they look for. Personally I'd say it is but I do know when I've called before I was told water and shelter
I would suggest you give them a call as we don't know what's available. Good luck and thanks for adopting and rescue!
No. Only cats and dog.
They don't euthanize there it's a no kill shelter
No, the small breed dogs are usually priced higher, I believe the cap is $300.00
Yes, you need to attend a 1 hour orientation to become a volunteer then you need to volunteer for at least 3 hours/month.
They don't have boarding there. Try long animal hospital or pet palace. Both are great places for a decent price. I've left my cats with pet palace a couple of times and they always come back relaxed and happy to see me.
They do have puppies, from time to time. The adoption fee is higher because people tend to want them more, I think it is 300 instead of the usual 150. Also when they have them they are adopted very quickly, so check their website( www.humanesocietyofcharlotte.org), to find out what animals they have. That way you will not possibly make a trip out there for nothing. They are open every day from 11am-5pm, except for Tuesday, which they are Closed. Sorry if the response was long, I just wanted to make sure you had all the information you needed
Ugh. Find a place that will let you keep her!
Call them to discuss; they are helpful and kind!
Surgeries are done by appointment only, call 704-333-4130 for the clinic. More info here: https://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org/health-wellness/spay-neuter/
I don't know. They do have volunteers working there. Internships might be a possibility. Could be a matter of talking with the management.
You can also contact https://www.friendsofferalfelines.org/ The Humane Society has a Community Cats program https://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org/services/community-cats-project/
Yes
Never go to Humane Society without calling first. They cannot accept a nursing mother with a litter. They may help you if you commit to be the foster for the cat and her kittens.
If you're going to adopt you have to meet the pet. If you're going to volunteer, have fun. Either way, thank you!
Yes they have a pet good pantry at the humane society. https://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org/retention/pet-food-bank/ Area churches and people food pantries also distribute pet food. Stand For Animals is the low cost get clinic and they are fabulous. https://www.standforanimals.org
You have to check the site as it's always updating. They do a brisk business.
I'm not sure if the Humane Society checks Google Maps for questions like this. You may want to go to their website and see if there is an email address... Probably under Contact. Good luck!
Depe ds o. The shot they offwr 3 year and 1 year ahota. Usually you need to.go evwry year
I don't work there. I have a rescue dog from the humane society. Go on their website. Sorry
I think we payed about 100 interview and I,D
Huh?
They dont allow 12 year old volinteers. What they did all9w is for my 12 yearold to collect kongs and fill them with peanut butter and ditribute to the dogs. We dound its hard for a child to volinteer at places due ro liability issues.
Ty believe it or not I actually found her a home that fast! I'm happy because she was too sweet
If you check the website they may post it in the descriptions. If not, come down to the shelter and the staff is very knowledgeable about the pups, I'm sure they can find your furever pup!
I think everyday except Monday it would probably be best to call ahead to get their hours
That's a question that the Humane Society would have to answer directly, so call them during business hours. They can tell you what breeds they currently have. 🙂
On Wednesdays (call to verify), shots and microchipping are offered free at the humane society to pet owners that are Veterans.
Also Pet Smart has excellent groomers.
Yes. You walk around and view the dogs in the cages. Cats are in a cat area and in cages when you go in
I'm sorry, do you mean a lost and found program? If so, there's not a formal program, no. The Humane Society is more of the place of last resort as I understand, after someone has found a stray and gotten it scanned for a microchip and looked for the owner themselves. I don't think the Humane Society is able to assist with that to any major extent. One would need to take the animal to either Animal Care and Control or a local vet to scan them for a microchip. If you're lucky, they'll be chipped and they can go right back to their family.
On Wednesdays they offer vaccines and microchip services at really good prices. https://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org/health-wellness/vaccines-microchips/
HSC cannot take same day surrenders
End of life service should be offered at HSC. Private vets charge a lot for this service, making it more difficult for pet owners, whom are already going through a difficult, emotional time.
Sadly not but we could recommend some boarding facilities if you need some help finding affordable ones. Just call us between 11-5 any day and speak to one of our customer service representatives and they can help! Thanks!
Yes the shelter off steel Creek you have to call to see the time but I think it's every 2nd wk of each monthly hope these help
Not for sure
No they handle mostly dogs and cats. For reptiles give itnto cmpd animal control they have facimities for reptiles. If its native to the carolinas then let let go in a pond where it can be with other turtles
Not for sure but i would call first
Not sure about that
Just show up, get to meet the perfect cat and then pay the adoption fee... then you set a date to pick it up after is spayed or neuteted
Yes, I saw a few cats there as well!
It's by appointment ans space available usually but you may be able to call and maybe a foster can take them
Not sure but my dog was fostered by a worker there. They open at 11 today .go ask
Money! .... and an ID
Hi Sara, Unfortunately we are never sure what kind of breeds will come to the shelter and don't work with breeders. Good luck on your search!
We believe that it is 16.
HI Raphaella, Thank you for letting us know. Unfortunately, HSC doesn't have investigative or enforcement powers. Please let Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control know about this situation ASAP! Thank you!
Im sorry o dont work there. If you visit their website im sure you will find more information.
Honestly go in and go from there because his life my be at risk if its large
The Critter Care Clinic closes early but the rest of the facility does not.
I believe 18
Minee was 150 dollars came with spay shots and a chip bag of food and a leed.i had to buy collar they just so happened to have a leed u can buy that before u go walmart dollar general or even dollar tree has animal stuff.
Love it keep it or call and ask do they have room for the kitten
Yes but u need to make sure that they have room
First of all that's not a question it's a statement. Second of all you don't have to pay to be a volunteer. If you need shots, certification, I know the training that, of course, would be on you. I'm starting my 7th decade on this planet. Regardless of the state or city I'm in this organization has never charged to volunteer. However, once again, you made a statement. You did not ask a question
Call them or go to your local humane society and donate in person.
Nothing really, just the fee
But they will require proof that your baby belongs to you also If you have located your pet on our website, write down the ID number and bring it to the shelter to present to the service representative at the front desk. If you are visiting the shelter to do your search, you MUST have your ID to show before being escorted to the kennels to view animals. You will not be allowed in the kennel without ID (passport, driver's license, student ID)
Small breeds are adopted faster. Check the website to get an idea of the dogs they currently have. The only way to know definitively is to visit.
I'm not sure HSOC does rabbits. To my knowledge it's only dogs and cats.
The Humane Society does not have pet sitting. You can usually find a pet sitter in your local neighborhood will be less expensive or you can spring for a doggie daycare which will be much more expensive.
Take it to the humane society at 2709 Toomey ave. Charlotte n.c .28203
Not free but definitely cheaper than then any vet's office.
Yes. It's usually a pill. Such a young age I don't know.
Parrot University in Pineville Carolina Raptor Center you can Google these numbers
Wensday February the 7th at 8:00 am until 2:00 pm
You should probably call them first.
Hello Sarah Did you try taking her into them? They have a foster pet program that might work until they get full placement
Yes, there are different fees for the pets. Sometime on the petco locations they have adoption free days during the year. The pets are up to date with shots and will have a chip implant.
on Wednesday from 9am to 2pm
They have good info about the most of the requirements to volunteer on their website
I have a cat who needs to be adopted...she is very very sweet..and an indoor cat...good with other pets and humans..I have a picture if u are interested...would u keep her indoors?
You can look on their website. They have a list of all dogs available along with their breed, age and a picture
For cats is $60 the standard fee for puppies is 120
It's low cost vaccinations on Wednesdays from 8 to 1 2700 Toomey Avenue
The fee varies according to the animal. Those that are most attractive -- breed, personality, etc. -- cost more, a premium so to speak which us then used to care for those who might have difficulty finding a home, because of sickness, personality, breed, etc.
You can always call. I would say unless it's chipped and doesn't have a new home yet it may be hard to find out. Try calling during business hours.
Rabies shots but not sure about physical...Banfield pets has decent plans
Please don't declaw your cat. There are many humane ways to get them to stop scratching up your furniture or what else they're doing. You can trim their nails, get nail caps, provide multiple cat scratchers, etc. Declawing is chopping their fingers off and usually has more cons than pros. They get stressed out easily and when provoked they will bite because they have no other way to defend themselves. Declawing is not humane and we at HSC do NOT support it by any means. I hope this helped!
I'll take them send a pic
You would have to call and ask. Remember that they take in stray animals so you can't exactly get a pick of breeds
Not sure of the exact cost but very inexpensive
Just call the Humane Society off of Toomey Ave. In Charlotte NC....they will know the answer
You can look around see pets and if you feel a connection/bond with any of them you can adopt them in the same place, they will tell you where to go to actually have a one on one with the pet. Good luck!
You have to call their office
Great idea, they can help at Toomey
Who is accepting kittens I have 6 I can't take care of them anymore
That's actually how we adopted our second dog. We did a few meet and greets and basically let our older boy pick his new buddy (totally surprised us as we were prepared to adopt a mid age dog as a companion and less stress). He picked a puppy that is now 8 (and our older dog lived another 3 years which surprised everyone ... especially the vets! ❤️️❤️️❤️️
Did you try Apple cider vinegar?
