I am an 80yr old Army Veteran and could not replace the batteries in my Very Difficult Vizio Remote..the owner kindly fixed it for free

Excellent service. They were a little behind, but they had our TV ready to go in two weeks. Reasonably priced. Free estimates. Cash only.

I have no idea. You include no helpful information like make and model or what kind of problem it has. To give an accurate estimate we need to have the set on the workbench to determine what it takes to fix it and what our own costs will be. That service is free and we are able to fix 99% of all problems except broken or damaged screens. No shop can fix that problem, for the most part nobody sells a replacement screen, the companies that do want twice as much for the screen as the whole television cost so a customer could easily buy 2 brand new sets for the same amount of money. We will be open again at 10AM Monday, if you call the shop with the information we need (make, model, problem) I will try to put you in the ballpark on cost.
3 reasons the red light may not be on. Bad power supply, bad main board or the set is already on and won't respond because the LED backlights have failed triggering an internal error. Because of the wide range of possible causes I can not guess at cost but the repair estimate is free. I would have to look at the unit before I could give it but almost certainly much cheaper than replacing it with a new set. That's the good news, the bad news is that we are completely covered up with work and if you brought the set in today it would likely be 3 weeks before I could actually look at it. If you have another set you can watch while waiting we are by far both the best and the most reasonable on repair costs. If you are unable to wait that long I understand and wish you the best luck. For Cherika: You have cracked the LCD panel and I'm sorry to have to tell you that the cost of replacing the panel (if we can get it at all) far exceeds the cost of replacing your set with a new one.
Most likely a failure of the memory chips or the main BGA IC. Probably repairable at reasonable cost but I would have to examine it to be sure. Estimates are free, no upfront charges just to look at it.
They don't repair cracked screens. The cost would be more than buying a new TV.
If the power button is actually physically broken the entire front bezel would likely need to be replaced to fix that. Not sure we could even find a source to buy that part. If this is the case just use the remote and don't worry about it. If the remote does not work then there is nothing wrong with the power button, something else has gone bad and I would need to have the set in the shop to determine exactly what that is. I can not address any cost to repair your set without diagnosing the problem to determine what my own costs are. That is free, we don't charge anything to give you an estimate but I have to be able to troubleshoot your set to do it.
Most likely is a failed sustain board. There are 2 of them and neither is available anymore. You might find second hand parts on Ebay or a similar place but it's a real gamble when searching for plasma parts, if they work at all when you get them they are unlikely to last long. Even discrete semiconductors used to repair these boards are obsolete and no longer available. Sorry, but we no longer take plasma sets in for repair for the reasons cited above. Your money would bring more value if spent on a new set.
Depending on the brand it may be fixable, but only LG and Vizio will actually sell a replacement screen. Sadly even if a screen is available the cost is so high that you could easily buy 2 new televisions of the same size and quality for that money. I may be able to repair it but never at any reasonable cost.
I'll be happy to examine the set for your friend and give him a free estimate to repair the problem. Modern sets are so interconnected that pretty much any board in the set could be causing the it to act this way, so without having it on my workbench to troubleshoot there is not much I can say about what the cause might be. We remain covered up with new incoming work and I am still running about 10 days to 2 weeks behind. With football season beginning and the Chiefs winning I am not likely to catch up much.
Yes it is. We'd be happy to examine the set and give you a free estimate on the cost of repair. You haven't provided enough information for me to say much more, I don't know what size the Tv is or what the model number is, both are important to check the availability and cost of parts. You can contact me with that information through the contact form on our website and I will try to give you some ballpark pricing but would need to have the unit in the shop where I can determine what my own costs will be before I could quote an exact price.
Impossible to say what is causing the problem without having the set in the shop to troubleshoot it. That is free, there is no charge for the estimate but we are covered up with new work and about 2 weeks behind. The price estimate given Rashood is probably in the ballpark.
Roku is not a Tv brand, just a feature on some TCL, Hisense and other brands. None of them offer a replacement screen as a repair part so I am sad to have to tell you that nobody can fix your set. Even if we good buy the part from the very few companies that will sell it the cost is always more than the cost of the set when it was sold as new.
Fix my TV and gave me a 90 day warranty cheaper than buying new one
Ebay maybe. Good luck, replacing LED backlights is the most dangerous repair, done by inexperienced people the most common result is a crack in the LCD panel rendering the set unrepairable.
Yes, I am sure we can fix that at a reasonable cost and the estimate is free to find out. It is likely that the backlight strips behind the LCD panel have some bad LEDs, preventing them from working. It is also possible that the problem is in the power supply circuits that supply them voltage so I would have to open the set and determine the exact cause before I could think about giving you an estimate but it is not likely to be more than 200.00, and probably less. The bad news is that I am at least 2 weeks behind, it would be a while from the time you brought it in before I could actually look at it. Thank you for contacting us.
I would be happy to give you a free estimate on the cost to repair your set but would need to have it in the shop where I can determine what my own costs are before I can do that. The dim backlight can be caused by bad LEDs, a bad power supply, a bad driver board or even a bad main board. Modern Tvs are like computers now, they are so interconnected that virtually any section can cause a variety of symptoms. For the sound issue it would be worth your time to look in the audio section of the menu and be sure that the output is set to the Tv speakers and hasn't been accidentally changed to go out to an external sound system.
I can never estimate the cost to repair a set without actually taking it apart and finding out what it needs. Your set may need something as simple as repairing an intermittent connection all the way up to replacing the main board. We don't charge anything to give an estimate, it is free but I have to know what my own costs will be before I can give it. Depending on exactly how old the set is it can sometimes be wiser to invest in a new replacement. If it has LED backlights it is usually better to repair it but if it is old enough to have fluorescent tubes as backlights (like the ones used to light commercial buildings) those are several years old and have to be close to failing. Once they do fail your cost to repair would be more than the cost to replace it.
Yes, almost certainly bad backlights, in most cases where it is only partially dark it is the LEDs behind the screen. It CAN be the LCD panel or the power supply but it's not as likely. I'd be happy to give you a free estimate bu would need to troubleshoot the problem and determine my own costs before I can do that.
It's not clear to me why Alexis Shields, who is unknown to me, would insert themselves between the owner of a business and a question from a customer with a clearly uneducated answer. Your question is difficult to answer with no model information or any chance to examine the set but it seems likely that the LEDs behind the screen have failed and at least one has shorted so severely it is smoking. These LEDs are over driven so hard by the factory that they are literally designed to fail. It is probable that I can repair your set for a lot less money than you would spend replacing it. As part of the repair I would also work on the power supply and reduce the current being driven through the LEDs, resulting in a slightly less bright picture that lasts years longer. If you can bring your set in I would be happy to examine it and give you a free estimate on cost of repair BUT I am swamped with work and it would take a couple of weeks for me to get to it after you brought it in.
I'm sorry, no. Sets with broken screens are not economical to repair, the cost is always more than buying a new set. In most cases a new screen is not available at all. Your sets will have a complete set of good circuit boards but they will only work in another set of the exact same make and model so buying broken screen sets for parts is not economical for us either. Your best chance to recover any money from your investment would be to strip the parts and offer them for sale on a platform such as Ebay but that comes with it's on set of problems when people with no knowledge of electronics buy them and then return them claiming they are defective because it didn't fix their set.
I am going to assume you want to know how much for you to buy screens since it's not clear if that is what you want or if you are trying to sell the sets you have. LG is one of the few companies that may actually sell a screen for most models. Without exception the cost of the screen will be about twice as much as the set sold for when new. That's before shipping or labor to install it. Screen replacement is not a difficult job, I remove and replace them daily while repairing the LED backlights behind them. The cost of a replacement screen makes any set of any brand with a damaged screen uneconomical for repair. If I am mistaken and you actually want to sell the sets you have then I am sorry, we would not be interested in buying them.
If the panel was cracked by the cup (very likely) then fixing it depends on the brand. Most brands do not sell the panel as repair part at all. LG and Vizio do make the panel available but it would cost about twice as much as the set did when you bought it new. I might be able to fix it but even if I can purchase a new panel for it the cost is so ridiculous that it's just crazy. As an example we recently researched the cost to replace the panel in a brand new Vizio that had been dropped when they tried to hang it on the wall. They had just paid 700.00 for the brand new set, a replacement panel was 1350.00 before shipping or labor to install it. It does not matter whether it is damaged on the inside or outside, either way the only fix is to replace it. A ridiculous situation I know, but nothing I can do to change it.
Yes, it may be repairable, LG is one of the very few companies that will sometimes make a replacement panel available. However it would be priced at a cost of about 1 1/2 times the amount you paid for the set when you bought it new. That cost does not include shipping (very high) or labor to change it out (reasonable). Even though we may be able to fix it for you the cost of the replacement panel is so ridiculous that you could easily buy 2 new sets and have money left over for the same amount. It is not a difficult repair, we routinely remove panels and reinstall them every day as part of repairing and replacing LED back lights. Sad that NO manufacturer will provide replacement panels at reasonable cost.
Several possible reasons but the most likely is that either the T-con is defective or it was not installed correctly. The backlights may be at fault. Because we are professional repair people there are potential legal liabilities involved with giving advice to someone trying to repair their own equipment so I am unable to offer any advice. Good luck to you, but the only help I can offer is the free estimate if you bring it to us for a proper repair.
You are probably correct in thinking that a set so old is not really worth investing money to repair it. We would have no interest in trying to fix it for resale either. I'm sorry but I do not know of any place locally to dispose of it . If you live in Kansas City you might dial 311 and ask about large item pick up and disposal. I don't know if they pick up televisions but won't hurt to try.
They would be able to give you a free estimate if you drop it off. Since there are different reasons things like that happen it's hard to give the cost without seeing the TV
Not sure if they pick up. I brought mine to them. Call them and ask. They are nice people.
It is impossible for me to judge that without testing various parts in the set to find out exactly what has failed and what needs to be repaired or replaced. If your set is a plasma the likelihood of us being able to make an effective and long lasting repair is small - the sustain circuits have probably failed and those parts are just not available any more. Chances are much better if it is an LCD model. Please go to our website contact page and send me an email with the model number and the number of times the front lED flashes before it pauses and starts again. With this information I can make an informed judgement about repairing it. The model number is found on a label on the back of the set and is most likely to begin with TC- or TH-. Thank you for contacting us, I about to be in traffic and will not be able to respond to your email contacting me until after 10AM.
TV tech will look at it for free.
True..I have taken many TV's , and they always tell what's wrong, how much it costs to repair, and if you want it fixed, before they get to work... Great place
Yes, we will accept a television without a stand for repair. It is easier for us to store your set safely when it is on a stand, but we do realize that they are sometimes lost or otherwise not available.
Yes a new one is best option
I can not give an estimate on the cost of repair without troubleshooting your set and determining exactly what has failed. We have no upfront charge for the estimate, it is free but I have to know what my own costs will be before I can give it. Yes, it is very likely that I can fix your set at a reasonable cost. But it is not to be a capacitor, that problem ended some years back and was mostly a problem with Samsung sets. I am always a few days behind but if you would like to bring the set in and leave it with us I will be happy to give you an estimate. Thank you for contacting us.
Cost of repair depends on exactly what has failed. The power supply has to get 2 signals from the main board to turn on the backlights, then has to generate sufficient voltage to light them. The LED strips behind the panel have to return feedback to indicate the amount of current being used. A failure at any point in that process will cause no backlights and a black screen. The most common failure is the LEDs shorting or opening on the strips due to being driven beyond their maximum ratings new out of the box. Some sets will require complete replacement of the backlight strips, some will require only a few individual LEDs to be replaced. As part of any repair we work on the power supply to reduce the amount of current flowing through the strips, resulting in a substantially longer life after the repair is complete. I will have to examine the set and see what my own costs will be to quote an estimate, but that is free. No upfront charges or fees until the set is ready for pickup.
Yes, it probably has open LEDs in the backlight system but it could also be caused by either a problem in the power supply or the main board. I would be happy to give you an estimate but have to look at the set and determine exactly what has failed to do that. We have no charge for that, it is free. I am currently running 2 - 3 days behind. It almost certainly will be much cheaper to repair than to replace. Steve Lead Tech Tv Tech Electronics
I have to look at the whole to determine what has failed before I can give an estimate of the cost to repair it. We have an employee who speaks Spanish at the store from 10 am to noon every business day, except on Wednesdays.
I presume that by 'surfing' you mean scanning through the channels. Likely a main board issue and replacement parts may be hard to find. I'd be glad to check it out for you but I am covered up with work and it would be several days after you brought it in before I could actually look at it. If you are scanning channels through a wifi connection when it freezes the fault could be either with your router or the wifi module in the set.
I'm sorry, we do not make house calls at all. We are carry in only.
Your 55" television has an LCD panel instead of a picture tube. Replacing it is not feasible due to the high cost of a new panel - if it is even available your cost before shipping or labor to install it would be more than the cost of your set when it was purchased new. This is true across all brands and screen sizes. However, while it is possible that the panel is beyond repair it is more likely that we will find a fault in the t-con or main board circuits causing half of the screen to be dark and be able to make an economical repair. Even if the panel itself is defective we have about an 80% success rate with locating and replacing a defective part on the address boards attached to it. I can not address cost without examining the set to determine exactly what has failed and what our own cost will be to make the repair but estimates are free and there is no upfront charge for doing that. It is very likely that we can repair your set at a cost well below a replacement set.
I'm sorry, we do not come to your home. The 58.00 is for replacement of the RF connector on the tuner, a common part that gets ripped off. We may be able to replace a video jack for the same cost but I would have to look at it be sure. There is no charge for me to look at it, the estimate is free.
I'm sorry, no we do not.
Very likely, yes. We would have to examine the set to determine what has failed and then determine if parts are available to fix it but we are able to repair almost all sets that do not have a damaged display panel. When the panel is damaged we may still be able to obtain the part and repair the set but the coast always exceeds the value of the unit.
I'm sorry, we do not. We only do carry in repairs on flat panel televisions.
It's not clear from your question exactly what the problem is. No color? Bad color? Wrong color? Modern televisions are so interconnected that it is impossible to quote a price to fix it without troubleshooting to find out exactly what has failed. Unlike most other shops we have no fee or upfront charge for that, I'd be happy to give you a free estimate but I have to troubleshoot the set before I can give it.
We can not quote you a cost to fix your set without troubleshooting the problem to determine exactly what has failed and what our on costs will be. Unlike most other shops we have no upfront charge or 'estimate fee' for doing that - the estimate is free but we have to look at the set before we can give it. There is no such thing as a 'receptor' in your set, you may be referring to 'capacitor' instead. That problem ended years ago and sets that suffered from it have already been repaired or disposed of, we rarely see one any more.
I'm sorry, we do not buy broken Tv's at all. It's to costly and time consuming to get rid of them and parts are only usable in the exact same model.
I'm sorry, we do not currently work on anything except televisions.
You should give them a call, TV Tech personnel are pretty straightforward and will tell you if it's repairable or worth the price to repair no cost
Information you find online about what might be wrong with your set is rarely correct. At least once every couple of weeks somebody will bring in a set along with a box full of parts they bought because they 'Googled' it and none of those parts fixed the problem. The reason is that the info you find only applied to a few dozen sets out of thousands sold and people who followed that advice and failed rarely post the outcome. Some do though and if you read everything you find you will see that while some are happy to have fixed their set an equal number are crying the blues because they destroyed it. The Samsung capacitor problem WAS a real problem though it ended several years ago and unless your set is 8 - 10 years old I assure you that it is unlikely that a capacitor is causing your problem. We offer a free estimate, I will be happy to look at your set and determine a cost to repair it for you but I am about a week behind right now.
There are at least 2 circuit boards involved in operating the backlights, often 3 or even 4. First, when you turn the set on the main board will send back 3 signals to the power supply to turn on various sub voltages. These signals are Power On, Backlight On and Backlight Adjust - if any of those signals fail you will have no backlight. Assuming that all 3 arrive correctly at the power supply, any of the sub circuits may have failed or the failure could be on the LED driver board or inverter. The LEDs or CCFL lamps could have failed. In modern sets a failure in any of those circuits would cause no backlight, see the problem with trying to guess without taking a look? But repair is almost always cheaper than replacement. While we give a free estimate and have no upfront fees for that we actually do need to take the set apart and troubleshoot it before we can give one. It's free to find out if you can bring the set in.
The short answer is no. In most cases the panel is not made available as a replacement part at all, but even when it is available, it always costs more for us to buy it than you paid for the television when you bought it new. We recently checked for a lady who had just paid 700.00 for her Vizio TV and it was dropped while they were hanging it on the wall. With Vizio the panel WAS available but our cost was 1325.00, nearly twice as much as the television sold for new. That did not include the cost of shipping or labor for changing it out. Hisense is a low end Chinese brand, they do not make replacement parts of any kind available to servicers to repair their sets, your only option is to buy a new one. Sorry to be the bearer of such bad news, but even if it was repairable it would not be economical.
Of course. If you just need a cord that plugs in to the back of the set come in and we'll give you one. If the set must have the back removed and a new cord installed there would be a nominal fee, but not very much.
Fix a what? You'd be better off calling them, TV Tech guys are friendly and helpful..
Whatever issue is very qualified and quick and extremely reasonable
I'm not sure, the shop is relatively small for stocking many salvaged tv's
