It's not clear to me why Alexis Shields, who is unknown to me, would insert themselves between the owner of a business and a question from a customer with a clearly uneducated answer. Your question is difficult to answer with no model information or any chance to examine the set but it seems likely that the LEDs behind the screen have failed and at least one has shorted so severely it is smoking. These LEDs are over driven so hard by the factory that they are literally designed to fail. It is probable that I can repair your set for a lot less money than you would spend replacing it. As part of the repair I would also work on the power supply and reduce the current being driven through the LEDs, resulting in a slightly less bright picture that lasts years longer. If you can bring your set in I would be happy to examine it and give you a free estimate on cost of repair BUT I am swamped with work and it would take a couple of weeks for me to get to it after you brought it in.
No, a brand new will probably cost the same for the repairs
