Great place to explore, they had a musket loading and firing demonstration along with period dressed actors. Well worth a visit.

Also if you have someone over 60 the get a life time pass for free and can take others in for free. Not sure how many.
Not directly, no, but as De Leon practically founded the city, and the Castillo was built to protect said city, he is indirectly responsible for the Castillo. Despite his major uninvolvement with the Castillo, there is still a fair amount of information about De Leon at the Castillo.
You can walk the dog outside, but you can't bring it inside the fort.
If you walk around the Castillo at night you know you are being watched. People have said they have been touched and seen things. The Castillo has had many killed and prisoned there. It is a very cool place to go. The whole town is great if you like history.
There's a section on their website about wedding ceremonies
I did not see any way to access the top except a stairway. Many left strollers at the bottom of steps. Some rooms on 1st level had a step.
There is a lot of street parking around there as well as a parking garage and little parking lots of people have turned in to pay to park places. No matter what unless you can find first thing in the morning free parking on the side of the road you’re looking at anywhere between $10-$20 a day for parking.
Yes my grandpa bought his senior forever pass for 80$ there
Fort Marion is what the Castillo was called when the United States got Florida in 1821. Under the Park Service and the congress, it was renamed to what it was originally and allowed to fly the Spanish Flag. It served as a military facility from 1672 (when it started construction) till after WW2. It has a fantastic history and never lost a battle.
Yes, but it fills up quickly. There are a lot of cash lots around as well though.
I saw pets on the fortress outside grounds, but for sure St. Augustine is a pet friendly city.
Yes it's free with your military CAC card or military I.D. also it's only 15 bucks for the entrance so very inexpensive
I don't see why not as long as you're not inside I don't think you could do a barbecue but sit on the lawn and have lunch sure
Yes! If you are reading this, you are amazing. From, State Stuff Productions
Yes, Cannons are firedfrom the gundeck every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the year at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., and at 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m
Is open everyday, excepto Thanksgiving Day and Christmas day it open from 9 am to 5 pm
Yes it is closed, but you can walk around it.
$15 a day
You should look up the old town trolley. It's a trolley that takes you all over st. Augustine and it takes about an hour to get around. One of the stops is the Castillo de San Marco. Its hop on and off and you can ride it all day. It's probably the best way to see as much of st. Augustine as you can in a day. Then you wont have to pay for parking at Castillo de san Marco.
It's open every day. I just came back from there. Parking is decent price. Fee to get in c Castillo is 15.00 per person. Must go it's so beautiful to explore. I loved it and will be going back!!
Closes Thaksgiving day, open Friday. Hours posted on website
Yes its a state park and no drones but your more than welcome to bring cameras and take videos on your phone
Don't remember the admission price but i know it's less than $20 per person.
I dont think so either. We were there today. Did not smell anything or see mold.
As of December 2017: Fri, sat, sun at 1030, 1130, 1330, 1430, and 1530. Details at this link: bit.ly/2CbRd9q
Yes but the inside is closed after 5 and can walk around the outside after and it's very nice and romantic and peaceful and quiet most of the time just not during summer vacation when this kids are out or college and not during spring break and it's not too quiet or peaceful on the weekends because of the bars across the street
There's a nice size lot and sometimes you can park right on the street. Really depends on when you go. 😇🦋
No. The moat was rarely flooded even in its own time. Records show it was used for livestock and you can clearly see a shot furnace that was built in the moat for heating canon balls. These details and more clearly indicate flooding was a last resort option that was never needed.
Negative no pet's what so ever ? I heard the Park ranger saying it very cleary no pets allowed because it's federal property ? Ok👎
There is a great parking deck not far from there. It is $10 -$15 for all day parking. But it keeps from having to run back and forth to the meter. Plus your vehicle is parked in the shade.
Yes, there is a line sometimes though to get in. They are allowing 100 people in.
I did not get to see the inside surface. Next time I will.
I have no answer for that unless you can get a new one from were you obtained it from
as of the middle of June it was closed
Only until 6 pm
I don't know if it's German descent but I know it was done by the Spaniards
There are various discounts given for senior citizens veterans etc. I would go on the St Augustine visitor website for more info.
May also want to check with the parking garage they may have a lot you can use. The garage is in close walking distance to the fort.
I think every hour starting from 9am
It's just 15 and worth it.
No elevator only stairs. But there is plenty to see without climbing the stairs. Only problem is that the cannon & musket demonstrations are on the upper deck of the fort.
The Castillo is a national monument so you'll have to go to the national Park service website for information on passes.
around 250k
Think what you need is a doctor for that answer. But, if they say yes, check out this place later to cheer you up.
I visited the fort yesterday but you still cannot enter at this federally run monument.
No. Due to the government shutdown, you can't enter the fort either, just go around it. But there is much more to see and walk.
Bought a national park pass.. was just s little more than 2 admissions
Yes you can walk the outside for free but there is a charge to cross the moat and go inside. $15 pp
Look at the old time trolley. I believe you can park for free there and take the trolley. It takes you all around St. Augustine. It takes about an hour and they take you to all the stops and its hop on hop off so no paying for parking. They tell you all about the history of Saint Augustine. It's interesting. Good way to see Saint Augustine in a day.
It is a National Monument. It doesn't have many of the things you might expect at a park like restaurants, campgrounds, etc. If you drive there, expect to pay to park. Get you National Parks Passport stamped at the bookstore.
The 2010 revision to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines a "service animal" as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. Dogs that are not trained to perform tasks that mitigate the effects of a disability, including dogs that are used purely to provide comfort or emotional support ("therapy animals"), are considered pets. Pets are not allowed in the fort, but are allowed on the grounds as long as they are leased.
If you are wanting free parking I suggest that you are expecting a long walk, any locations close to the fort and historical center expect to pay for parking.
Yes
Yes
That depends on where are you travel from. Use you GPS or Google map.
No paddle up and pay would be a cool feature but as far as I am aware it is not available atm.
coquina(Spanish for "small shells"), which consists of ancient shells that have bonded together to form a sedimentary rock similar to limestone
They are only allowed in the exterior areas of the park, inside the structure of the Castillo
No, he will have to pay
I did Not see or hear the canons shoot off
The details of the Wednesday i don't know but the fort opens daily from 10am to 5pm you pay 10 adult children up yo 12 free
It's free. But sometimes is hard to find parking here. I did park in a near place, and walked there.
I have been there a few times and never seen it filled to capacity. I have been there when there have been four or five School groups shrieking with excitement. It does seem to be more crowded in the afternoon but not claustrophobically so. If you can stand a busy mall, there should be no problem.
Yes covers u and 3 guest s I have used my several times and 4 of us got in on my pass free
You can live in st Augustine where the fort is located, but you cant live in the fort itself. Its from the early 1500's and is what made St. Augustine, the first settlement in Florida and some say thr oldest settlement in north America.
If the lot was empty, yes it would fit but it's a lined parking lot. I would suggest calling ahead to arrange directions.
Yes if you are sensitive to such things you can feel the energy throughout the place...day and night. Deloris and her husband mostly just bicker about with one another obliviously annoying to the other mournful spirits
It is said that tourists and locals have seen the ghost of a pirate in the Castle
