What an amazing experience! The full loop is about 8-8.5 miles with the side trails to a couple of the falls but definitely not super difficult. We stopped and sat in the stream a few times to cool off which was great! It was just over 5 hours from start to finish.

This place is a hikers dream. 10 falls in a 9 mile loop is simply heaven. I visited on 07-04-22. The terrain was shaded, cool, wet and extremely fun to hike. There was a slight elevation at some parts and some stairs throughout. There were a few bridges along the trail as well. Definitely wear water shoes for the hike and keep a spare pair in the car for later. Try wearing quick dry clothes. Start by paying $5 parking fee at the kiosks. Take snacks and water. Take a hiking stick mostly for safety. Be considerate of others while taking pics. Don't hog the trail and let other pass by safely. Know your comfort level if you decide to get under the falls or in the water at all. Safety can't get to you fast enough once you are around double falls. Keep your phone charged to capture the beautiful moments. Take your time and enjoy to the fullest.

Amazing, probably the most popular park n hiking trails in the states. Its tons of hiking trails with different lengths from easy to hard. Well maintain n managed. You could see lots of falls n great view. You need state lark permit which could be bought online for a year or from kiosk in parking lots for $5 a day. Even weekdays they are good amount of people all around the park

What an awesome day! Checked out all 10 waterfalls and the hike was not too bad and took about 4 hrs. Make sure to wear proper shoes or bring an extra pair of socks if you wear running/cross training shoes. Gets pretty wet on the trail especially when you go behind some of the waterfalls. It was dope!

Yes! It has wonderful hikes for all ages, and amazing views from all angles! I definitely recommend checking out Silver falls if you haven't already.
Yes, you can camp here but make sure when you're doing reservation, find out your site and measurement so that you know what type of tent fits there etc. Due to covid it's always good to check ahead with the officials. Good luck, you will love this place!
The trail to upper north falls is about a quarter mile in and is very stroller friendly, but the North falls (the one you can walk behind) has very steep granite steps that would be a challenge.
There are a few, especially this time of the year water level is low so there are actually many places where the water is clear and low
So, let's just say if you want to make a day out of it you can go to south falls, or drive maybe 2 miles more and end up at north falls, at the south falls they have a set up like a big park, and place to actually get wet.. then you can visit one of the falls in strollers and behind the fall pretty cool, same with north but no stroller, easy walk to the falls. Now if youd like to do the walk I'd suggest cut it in two parts as it is 8.6 miles to do the whole circle.
I saw some one in a wheelchair @ the first waterfalls. The trail was pavement.
Totally fine even in a Ferrari
Yes there are shower and free for gest at the park
Not on the trails, only in the dog friendly parts of the park. Check the state park website
No snow usually. November would be a cozy time to enjoy a Yurt, or all the hikes on a sunny day.
Camping is open but people make reservations months in advance. I would guess that many people made reservations in February or March for August. It fills up fast.
There is a fee for daily use or you can buy an annual pass. The fare is charged per vehicle, not per person. There is a vending machine available to buy a pass. The machine accepts credit cards.
I believe there's a small section near the parking lot for kids to swim. You are not allowed to swim along the hikes.
They have tent, RV, and cabin sites, across from the south falls. It has a swimming area picknic areas. Really great site.
It is unbelievably crowded . To many people for any kind of get together in my opinon! Congrats tho
Cool place,0.00001 parking on Saturday
Read in another language Silver Falls State Park Silver Falls State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Oregon, located near Silverton, about 20 miles (32 km) east-southeast of Salem. It is the largest state park in Oregon with an area of more than 9,000 acres (36 km2), and it includes more than 24 miles (39 km) of walking trails, 14 miles (23 km) of horse trails, and a 4-mile (6.4 km) bike path. Its 8.7-mile (14.0 km) Canyon Trail/Trail of Ten Falls runs along the banks of Silver Creekand by ten waterfalls, from which the park received its name. Four of the ten falls have an amphitheater-like surrounding that allows the trail to pass behind the flow of the falls.[2]The Silver Falls State Park Concession Building Area and the Silver Creek Youth Camp-Silver Falls State Park are separately listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Yes go in to the gift shop they have great source of information in there while you there you may help support our local business.
Yes
The trails can be slippery around the waterfalls, there are different levels of difficulty depending on the trail, but to most of the waterfalls I don't find them to be to hard. Trails can be a bit steep in places, so the hike back from say north falls can be more difficult then to south falls. Weather should be great. 80s for temps. Should still be nice and warm. (I like 80 -100 myself lol)
There is a fee. It's an all day pass for $5.00. The Fee Station is where you pay.
If your April trip to Oregon is confirmed., then you can reserve the cabin.. May be.. Call and check.. 😊
It depends on which falls. North Falls, with the eroded caves in my photos, is only about five to ten minutes from the parking lot. Upper north falls in the other direction is probably closer to fifteen to twenty. Twin Falls is below both, probably about a twenty minute walk from North Falls with a few unnamed falls in between.
There are cabins for rent. They are located on the opposite side of the highway from the main entrance.
A most Oregon state parks they do allow this since many of the campsites are level, gravel or in some cases paved. When trailers/campers are allowed on size limits on length/width/gross weight dictate what can go on certain spots. I'd double check how big your camper is and head on over to the Oregon state parks reservations system for exact details.
Gates at South Falls Day Use will be locked before and after the following times: November- January: 8:00am- 5:00pm February: 8:00am- 6:00pm March: 8:00am- 8:00pm April- August: 7:00am- 9:00pm September: 7:00am- 8:00pm October: 8:00am- 7:00pm
The Rim Trail allows dogs. It is 2.1 miles but most have signs posted that say no dogs. There is a dog area at the day use where you can let them run and play. You will need to cross the river to get to it.
Yes, must trails. However some are just for foot traffic like the trail of falls. There is a map available at the info booth going into the park that will show you which ones.
Yes, the trail of ten falls starts with an ADA section and you can see the South falls without having to walk much. Plus it's a paved walk.
The campground has a few first come sites that are not reservable. Visit the camp host to see if any are available.
10 to 15 minutes on both sides
Horse-A camp site reservation $19/night, $133/week. Sites include only 1 vehicle, extra requires fee.
Dogs are only allowed on the Rim trail. You won't see a majority of the falls but it's still a nice trail.
Alot of the trails yes, but not all of the waterfall trails. The main waterfalls to see north and south falls we left someone behind each time waiting with the dogs and went down to see them, theyre short walks away from the dog friendly trails.
For camping, probably. However the trails are open with adjacent parking throughout park
B loop and cabins are available for camping. In day use the general picnic area at South Falls is open, with restrooms and water refill station available. The lodge is closed, and the small park shop is open Sat/Sun 12-3. 10 falls trail is open, with parking open at South, North, and Winter falls trailheads. (As of 10/29)
Facilities like gift shop and lodge are closed during the week (open on weekends) but the trails are open! My Husband and I were there last week. On a Wednesday. Although.. we were able to get a bowl of soup and a mocha..we live in Spokane Wa. I grew up in Albany Oregon. ANY chance we have of going to the falls is a no brainier. Hands down top 5 places I have ever been! Fires seemed to have no affect on the physical appearance. Hope this helps
It's about 15 minutes in and 20 minutes out.
It was closed for the fire. It is possible it is still closed
There are a few locations that have barbecue set ups at the south falls parking area. Please call the ranger station or state park office to make sure it's allowed. Right now is extreme fire season and it may not be allowed to do charcoal. Propane is more likely to be allowed.
Not sure about Silver Falls, but my guess is no. Try Kings Mountain on US 6. 2.4 mile trail up to 2500ft.
Probably, but there are a lot of people hiking usually. Would slow you up a bit
Sometimes parking. Seeing the falls us free
Yes. Just pay for parking
Yes, there is a shallow river that is perfect for children.
Open
All the prices should be online. It does depend on the time of year. They ate much cheaper during winter, but lots of people like to go up there this time if year. And thru have different size cabins. Well worth making the call. Really nice people
Dogs are welcome in the park, but are not allowed to go down into the canyon.
The hike is rated as easy/moderate, if you did the big loop that has 8 of the 10 waterfalls it's about five miles. The smaller loop is about 2.5 miles.
Usually by the third or fourth week in October.
You must have a current fishing license, and it's catch and release only. Must use barbless hooks.
Campground are very nice water and electricity hook ups for trailers and a dump station get bathroom free showers too we really enjoyed our stay campground are full so you have to get on a waiting lists well worth it though 😉.
No, not anywhere. There are spots for it, but there are also places where park management don't want people for either safety or nature preservation purposes. We were there last week and saw folks getting escorted out of the water below upper south falls.
Check out the website. That might answer most questions. It's a beautiful place
Great parking
Not in each specific site but there are centrally located showers.
Maple ridge loop is 2.6. We took a 5 year old no problem. There are stairs, roots, and branches and an uphill on the back side. If you want to you can cut it short and turn around after the first two falls.
Also North Falls parking is Not for free. There is a collection box. If you hike more often, get a seasonal pass for Oregon state parks. Just $30 a year. Online available (instant printing of a temp pass).
Yes Im pretty sure for like the cabin and gift shop and some areas but most of the place is hiking and therefore not wheelchair accessible.
The bike trail I know of is a paved trail. No off road bicycles on the hiking trails.
The elevation is 1384 so there might be a little left over. They are having their annual Owl Prowls so that tells me that the roads are good. I would dresses warm and in layers. You can always call ahead to be sure of the conditions
Most of the popular trails would be fine for kids that you can access from the North or South Falls parking lots. I would stay away from the perimeter trail.
It was falling when I was there last month.
I would contact the campground prior to the check in date, and make arrangments. Most likely, the "camp host" will have it.
Not at the park. However north down silver falls hwy going down towards Silverton at the reservoir you can fish. Hope that helps.
Yup starting about the 2nd week of october..😊😊
Yes.
Yes there is.
Yes. They do. Provides entrance or access to pass owner and accompanying passengers in a single, private, non-commercial vehicle at Federal operated recreation sites across the country.
I hiked entire park Mon 8/13/18. All good, tho waterfalls flow very low, as expected this time of year.
Call the ranger station. There are areas that can be reserved and some that are on a first come basis.
Hey, best close to parking lot and suitable for swimming is the upper north fall. Short and easy walk too. Water are obviously freezing, but totally suitable for swimming
You need to reserve at least 6 months in advance for Summer camping. Silver Falls state park is one of the most popular.
Nope .
I just looked online and it seems to be ok to have a campfire in a designated area like in a fire ring in Linn and Lane county. Just know that there has already been fires at this park this year.
Great. All are looking good.
Unfortunately dogs are not allowed on the trails where signs are posted there is an area across the foot bridge for dog to play
The showcase trail at Silver Falls State Park — where you walk around, above and behind 10 waterfalls, half of which are more than 100 feet — a trek of 8.7 miles is available, with 1,100 feet of elevation gain. You don't have to do all the trails!
Arrive early during weekends it gets pretty full. Lots of parking for trailers.
Reception will depend on your carrier and whether you are hiking the trails or staying in the camping area.
We entered the south rim , there is security parking kiosk $5 day use only, North rim has self parking kiosk where you place $5 in an envelope and take park tag back to cardash
Difficulty is easy, no more slippery than any other trail with occasional water on it, just choose a length of hike that's in your comfort-zone. The longest loop is about 8 miles, with the smallest I believe being 3. There are plenty of out and back options to see the biggest waterfalls with much less walking and a bit of driving between the south and north parking lots.
North and south falls should be accessible. There's one close to the area with the store.
As I recall it is a 7 mile hike along the river canyon
A wheelchair should be able to make it within view of the south falls but not behind. The path down is fairly steep and the path becomes a bit rocky and uneven.
Park entrance fee is $5 per car.
Probably so...I'd call to see..
Not at all. In fact, not allowed on lease in 90% of the park. We use the National Forest trails for our pooch walks.
As long as you don't get caught. Me and few friends did that last year.
Silver falls is an Oregon state park. So shut down does not affect the park.
You could probably do a stroller to the top of the big falls, but the trail down to it is a bit rough for strollers. Id suggest a baby career if you're going to hike down to and under the falls.
No, not on any of the main scenic trails. The ones you will want to go on to see the falls is off limits. We learned the hard way, made the whole trip and had to walk our dog away from the falls on some very muddy dirt trails. Disappointing, but I be willing to bet the few that don't leash, clean up after or have aggressive dogs (i.e. Pitt Bulls) have most likely ruined it for the many responsible dog owners. The trails are fairly narrow so altercations could happen easily.
I've never seen anyone fish in Silver Creek
This is probably one of the best places close to Portland to really see the colorful beauty of fall. 😊
Silver Falls isnt effected by the fire - so you will find this park open, you won't find any smoke. Mind that many other regions were closed due to wild fire , places including crater lake, proxy falls, Multnomah falls, Bridal veil , Vista house etc were closed (i was there on sep 21,22,23 dates) unfortunately all of them roads were closed except silver falls.
It can be very dangerous for small children, I would scout out places first then decide where you feel safe. There's a fun play area and picnic tables at the north end.
We were there September 9 10 & 11 air quality was good, visibility was also good.
A goid amount in the day use area and not as much in the campground
Yes
Depends if you have reservations or want to use the day use areas of the park. I suggest calling ahead to confirm as it can change unexpectedly.
Didn't see any smoke during last weekend visit
On the main canyon loop trail there 10 visible waterfalls.
