Very nice campground! We had a great campsite, flat area for tent, shady with close and easy access to bathrooms and water. Small nit was lack of paper towels in men's bathroom. Access to the lake via close by walking trails. Very nice and friendly park hosts, keeping everything tidy and safe for everyone. Highly recommend for everybody (except rebel rousers and loud party groups of which there were none, thankfully). Enjoy the great outdoors at this beautiful campground!

No vacancies just a bunch of reserved spots with nobody in them, ridiculous it’s like they want you to come there. Whatever happened to old school camping you just go in there and pitch a tent anywhere there’s space. I guess times have changed. Judging by my visit I don’t see this as a reliable camping place. Although I am not 100% sure if this campground is government run but it seems like it is they want you to pay and reserve spots.

We had a great experience. The staff was very helpful and very friendly. The campground was kept very clean. The bathrooms and showers were exceptionally clean. I like you didn't have to pay extra for the shower. It did take a little bit for the water to warm up and you do have to hold the button to keep the water running but Hey it's included. There's a lot of amenities nearby, alot of trails. I think you could even rent boats?? Next time I will look into that. Shopping is very close if you need supplies. I was surprised to hear we were able to have a fire in our fire pit with the fire danger so high. It couldn't be higher than 1 foot over the rim. Overall weather was awesome we had a great experience. This was right after Memorial Day on weekdays we left on Friday. I'll definitely go back.

Great campground sooo much fun, great friendly staff everything was clean from the sites to the bathrooms/showers. We had some cold nights but the front had plenty of wood that was not over priced to keep the fire going and warm. Can't wait to be back.

1 of the 4 loops is full hookups. Snowberry loop, sites 35-64.
There is a bike trail right outside the campground that takes you around the lake.
I am not sure if they are open every day of the year, however, I do know that you can check if the day and spot you would like to reserve is available online. If you would like a specific spot, it is best to reserve it ahead of time online. If you are in the area, you can swing by and find an available spot and pay there and then or the next morning. If you have any problems, Ranger are always patroling and are glad to help out. I highly recommend this location, best of luck!
Yes they are hot showers and for registered campers free. No quarters required. Visitors not camping there its $2 for a shower.
Yes. They have potable water spigots if you have a jug or something. Snow Berry loop has full hookups.
Yes we there this week. We had hook up so we had our own showers. But there is showers there. Nice and very clean as well
Yes. Was up in the area last weekend. Go to recreation.gov to book. Should be plenty of availability due to the low temps. Cheers!
Serrano Camp has showers with warm, hot water, included in the price of your overnight fee.
No, but you can rent RVs locally and have them set it up for you. You just show up they take care of the rest.
I use this site a lot https://www.campsitephotos.com/campground/ca/serrano/
Yes. You can.
shores are very slimy (alage) near the campground. Not too bad at Stanfield Cuttoff
Yes, but putting it in your campsite depends on the size of the parking pad. Some sites to small for more than just one car. There is overflow parking outside of the campground. You can also get double campsites that hold 4 cars. You can read on line how big the parking is for each site. Reservations for summer go fast. Good luck!
Yes. I believei it's an additional 15$.
You can swin in the lake, you will have to drive to a spot to get into the lake.
It looked like they had RVs when I was there three weeks ago
Serrano is not open. No fired permitted
Serrano quiets down during the week in October, but stays busy on the weekends until November.
No there's a water spot on individual campsites except the handicap one. But the water spout was right across from us!!
Verizon and AT&Tvservice are good. T-mobile isn't so good.
Yes. Check with check in. Week we stayed, fire cannot be more than 10 inches in height and must be attended at all times when fire is going. Be sure to extinguish fire properly before retiring for the night.
We tried to check in an hour early last week and they were adamant on the scheduled time.
Generator is OK, quiet time is 22:00 (10 PM)
It is heavenly on a clear night.
You can see all the stars. But I think Joshua Tree has a better view due to less City lights around the site. Overall, Serrano campground was excellent.
yes showers still closed but restrooms are open and very clean !👍
We were there two weeks ago and no campfires not even propane fires. They are pretty strict this year.
Totally depends on the weather! When it snows in Big Bear, it snows at Serrano campground.
Approximately 3 feet wide, maybe a foot and a half deep. The food locker is pretty standard size amongst other camp sites I've visited.
They're about 4' length by 2.5' depth by 2.5' height I believe. But they are pretty big.
I camped @ serrano last week and the fire restrictions do not apply to the campground. You may buy firewood on site. I took my own firewood from a previous trip. Enjoy!
Next year? Do you mean this Labor Day? If so, you must have reservations, it is very busy this summer
Nope, but phones have good 4G data available.
Yes. You can set up a tent on all sites. Very spacious spots
Yes, we went fishing just two weeks ago. They have silent areas of the lake to fish peacefully. Adults just have to have a fishing license. You can purchase a daily one or a year license. And FYI, Little kids don't need a license :-)
The campground is in Fawnskin on the North side of the lake.
Right across North Shore there is Big Bear Lake. Boat launch is about a mile down
Yes, they are allowed to swim in the lake. We do get an algae bloom in summer, so avoiding that time is recommended for the health of your pets.
Yes there are some swimming beaches along Big Bear Lake, but not specifically at Serrano campground
2pm
Snowberry loop has electric, no bathroom in the loop though.
Swim only if you are an experienced cold water lake swimmer. Never swim alone in this lake. Nessie has been spotted during missing persons reports. Beware.... Really though. If you have never been here you will know that no one really swims in the lake due to it being so cold. 8000 feet up.
Short walk to the lake and you will have a great view.
I'm pretty sure its for the Duck & Geese only.
Yes you certainly can.. beautiful beautiful views
Water in lake but getting lower in past 2 yrs. All sites similar. A few choice spots. Depends on preference. Cell phone works.
Yes... I have seen bigbearrvrentals.com trailers there many times. Sometimes he parks them outside the campground with signs posted on them for advertising.
2, and they go quickly. These sites can be taken for up to 14 days when available. Midweek the best chance at getting one. Sometimes other reserveable sites are available on a first serve basis for one night only. Good luck!
each site varies. I believe they have some spurs that will accommodate up to 40ft. Check recreation.gov-Serrano Campground where they list the max length of a vehicle for each site.
Cool days cold nights on average. However warm spells can happen. So can the possibility of an early winter snow. We currently have el Nino conditions setting in that could make for an early wet winter. Be prepared for the worst so you can expect the best of times
Highly doubtful. Very popular campground on summer weekends. Check recreation.gov, you might get lucky if there has been a cancellation.
Yes
Recreation.gov or reserve America
I think they do but you would need to call. Hanna Flats might be a good choice also
Recreation.gov lists the check-in time at 2pm and checkout at 12pm. Just click on any of the sites and look under "Site Details".
It depends on which site you select; some are much roomier than others. They can all hold at least a 4-6 person tent. Check the photos to get a better idea.
One. Yes for reservations
Brian...if you are on the lake loop you can see and walk to the lake. It is about 100 yards depending on the water level. There is also a bike trail that circles the lake. Hope this helps.
You need a reservation.
yes, refer to recreation.gov, Serrano Campground, for specific spur lengths
Yes. Any cancelations will reflect immediately in recreation.gov. Don't count on them staying available very long though. This is the most popular campground in the Big Bear area.
They take reservations through reservations.gov, and if they are not sold out by reservation, all sites not reserved are available for one night only on walk-in.
There is no "Wi-Fi" provided by the campground. If your referring to cell service (cell data) all the major players (Verizon, AT&T, T-mobile) get service here. Most of the providers have towers in the Big Bear Valley.
Lots of room!
Depending on the site and the size of the cars you can park as much as 6 cars(double site). there is ample free parking on shore drive and hwy 38 outside the campground. Some campsites are right next to the roads. Note the maximum number of people per site is 8 people, 16 for a double and is strictly enforced. Reservations for summer go quickly 6 months in advance.
Yes, each site has its own fire pit. Best to buy your wood there. they don't like people to bring in other wood because of bugs. They sell it right at the check-in place. There is also a grate on top of the fire pit so you can Grill there if you wish
It's wide enough to get a 35 foot motor home. It's really easy to maneuver the roads.
by reservation. note some sections have hookups & some do not (but they have public restrooms & showers)
No, unfortunately. It closes thanksgiving weekend. The only nearest forest service campground open year around is Holcomb Valley. It's out about 12 miles on a dirt road from Fawnskin north of the valley. Near Stanfield cutoff road and north shore drive is another private RV park called Pine Tree Rv park they are open year round.
2 for a single, 4 for a double, however it depends on the size of the car and the size of the site. Some double sites hold up to 6 small cars. If you will have more cars then space available, pick a site in the lake view loop. Then you can park on the road outside the campground and be close to your car still.
And
Yes, hammocks are allowed.
32.50 for tent sites, 45. For Rv full hook up sites. Reservations are a must 6 months in advance. Sometimes cancelations do occur before listed on the web site. You can grab those by calling the kiosk directly. They are currently full for labor day weekend. Good luck!
