I would say if the 9 year old in question likes science or even space travel, they would probably be interested.
I took my 14 year old son and 5 year old daughter and both had a blast
If the child is into plants, rocks and tech then maybe. I know the ones that were there when we were, were amazed.
It depends on the kid, honestly. If they have an appreciation for science, if they like the outdoors, botany, or wildlife it is a neat place to go. If the kid doesn't like going outside or to the park all that much, it might not be the best place to go.

About an hour and a half of walking and listening so you have to know your own kid.
