I want to be sure to say that this is a place that does have large crowds and I know for many it may be stressful, so my rating is definitely based on both my own enjoyment and nostalgia for going to the fair, and being on the lower end of stress in crowds. If you have any struggles with crowds I would say this one is closer to 3 stars with some suggestions at the end.
I have enjoyed going to the fair for years and it was fun to go with family this year. We were able to see some of the art from students and see the loom work of several great artists! We saw some animals and got ice cream too. A very fun place to go for those who love rides, to see animals, or in our case to look at great artistic skills of those in our area!
We tried to stay away from the larger crowds, and it was a very enjoyable trip. To avoid the crowds I would say avoid the purple entrance, it is near the rides and is always busy with people. Take advantage of the art sections of the fair with display areas near the coke stage and the art display area near the gold gate having fewer crowds most days. And, the biggest suggestion is avoid both the free day and weekends when more people are at the fair.
Hope you get a chance to enjoy it soon!

This year, just like previous years, did not disappoint. Yes it's expensive, and the food is overpriced, and it's crowded, and the parking can be terrible if you come late. But the look on my kids faces when they win a prize or just finally braved a new ride makes this experience priceless. We will be coming back for years to come.

It was fun to be here with my daughters and toddler granddaughter. We missed having the usual program with the daily schedules - especially with so many changes of locations of our favorite parts to visit. The rides seemed a bit pricey- $6 for our granddaughter to ride the carousel! We loved the display with all the quilts hung from the ceiling.

Not true. They allow you to go in with soda, water, etc. New as of last year. I thought same thing and tried to hurry and finish my drink, and they said I could take it in. Same last week. Walked right in with an opened monster energy drink.
I heard on radio about a dinosaur event in Puyallup at fair grounds this weekend i thought but cant find any info on their webpage. Is there one and how do i find out more.

It depends. Changes almost every year. But for adults around $12. There are discount tickets available at Safeway and if you have children, they normally get free admission tix from school and sometimes a free adult pass.
Adults-$14, 6-18 yrs and senior citizens 62+- $10.50 Sept. 1st-4th 18yrs and under are free. 5 and under are always free. Military appreciation days are Monday free admission for military.
There when the fair is not going Tuesday mornings 7:30 I think 7:00 to 2:00 outside the fairgrounds at the gold gate you can buy scones. Also at storino's farms on Saturday at once or twice a month I think on Saturdays they're there also a food truck with scones.
Now you can buy the mix yourself from various places Costco Safeways and mix it at yourself at home but they never taste the same there's a trick to the temperature of water has to be hot water for your mix to mix correctly. Just a little inside secret from being a baker LOL
.
I was there for a car show and saw an advertisement for the fair in September. Masks in this setting have been more of a choice. It seemed about 50/50 when we were there.
As far as I know it's supposed to be open and at the end of June for the State Fair and so on I know it's open now but just for small little things but they said in September it should be open hope it helps
Can u order tickets for concerts and pick them up at the call office?

I know a couple of women that work down there if I were you I would call first just to verify just to see exactly what they're going to go ahead and allow this year and with an off and allow that'd be my advice
30$ per car load plus money for extras like food and any other fair fun and you have to buy a ticket online for allotted times or 50$ for an anytime ticket
With the governor extending the school closures until April 24th, will the Spring fair be cancelled or rescheduled?
Mother Nature (MotherNature) | Aug 11, 2022
Wm BUTLER | Aug 12, 2022
I havent heard for sure, but my guess is that it is cancelled, and will not be rescheduled. The participants in fairs have a circuit they follow, and their time at each location is interleaved with all of the other uses of the same facilities. Rather than create a new schedule, it is much easier to resume using the existing schedule.
Also, schedules are made to avoid weather extremes. Like 117 degrees in AZ, and 6 feet of snow in Chicago, and even other events in the area... so dates are important...
The entry to the fair is $14 for adults. If you get them from Safeway, you'll pay something around 11 I think.
And once you get in, depends on the rides/games you play. Most of them are ticket based, needs anywhere around 6-8 tickets (you get a pack of tickets for $60 and that should be good for around 6-10 different games or rides)..
Food and drinks are a little pricey compared to most places..Theres an alcohol place inside which has great beer $14 is the standard price for a mug and food - totally depends on what you choose.
I believe that most of the public buses make a stop somewhere near the fairgrounds. If not, there is a designated drop off and pick up zone for Uber and Lyft.
Is there a parade down Meridian tomorrow, Sept 6, 2019?

Does anybody know why the hell the fair is closed two days in a row?? I though it was just Tuesday so for maintenance. I’m so upset I had plans to go today with my grandma cause I’m not working.

We have been closed on Tuesdays, for four years now. We did this once we expanded our dates. It is for staff and vendors to restock, rest and replenish. We have also been closed the first Wednesday, for the past three years because many of our guests are focused on getting their kids back to school. We make sure this is listed on our website, in all emails, advertising, etc.
Here's a link to the map that shows all the gates. It shows which ones are Open to the public. Have a great time! https://www.thefair.com/general-info/maps/
Yes, get your hand stamped and you can get back in the same day. But, Parking you have to pay unless you can find something on a side rode and walk a ways. Good luck.
I don't think so usually if it's not a pet based project looking for food donations they send them to food banks and other places for low income and homeless people so I don't think so but I would ask whoever is at the donation stand
In September during the Washington State Fair they do. Just look up Washington State Fair entertainment schedule & it should show you when the rodeos are scheduled & also the music & comedy acts that will be there also. They have amazing stars that perform there. Like Jeff Dunham the comic ventriloquist will be there & oldie groups like The Beach Boys, Billy Idol & Bob Seager & country stars like Keith Urban, The Eli Young Band & Brad Paisley it includes free entrance to the fair also.
Pets would pose multiple issues, so it makes sense they are not allowed. However, a service dog may possibly be allowed. If that pertains to your question, that should be asked of the fair management office.
Save $5! Wear your team gear on Sunday, Sept. 23 and bring this coupon to save $5 on regular adult gate admission. Coupon must be printed and redeemed at purchase. Mobile coupons can't be accepted.look on the fair website
There is a vendor that sells adult scooters for people that have difficulty walking. They have 3 wheels and comfortable looking seats and I believe they are equipped with baskets .

No, but it's barely more, to just buy the concert ticket...which includes the rodeo beforehand, if that makes sense. Here's a link to more info: http://www.thefair.com/rodeo
We have interim events throughout the year. This weekend is the Good Guys Show. Our main Fairs are in the fall and spring. The fall dates this year are Aug 31-Sept 23.
Look them up online or ask the fairgrounds office if they have a contact number. It's almost fair time again, so if all else fails come back in to see them to get results. They usually have the same booth every year.
We were actually featured on Carnival Eats this season (they were here in September), with some amazing items such as deep fried sushi, scones and other foods. The episode should be up on their site if you haven't seen it. The crew was so pleased with the variety of food at our Fair that they had a hard time choosing only a few to feature. Additionally, KING 5 broadcasted live all last Fair and featured dozens of food vendors and even did a "Final Fork" bracket for viewers to vote. There was only one burger on there. Feel free to check in with us before each Fair for food options. Especially at Washington State Fair in the fall, sometimes you might not know where different food options are located or new ones that have joined us, so you can always email us. Thank you!
Well the gold gate and the blue gay at the front on Meridian, the red gate is on the north side and the purple gate is in the back. If there is a green gate, it's got to be in the far south west corner in the back.
Yes, it appears that the lots have some handicap spaces, as they did in the red lot. The gate had a chain at the entry and after driving around the block to the exit and seeing spaces available, we were told that we had to go back to the entry and the chain would be removed. We did get in and we're charged $10 instead of $15, The attendant at the exit seem like she needed convincing that there spaces available before telling us that they were counting open spaces. Hope this helps.
Each ride ticket is 50 cents, but rides take 6, 8, 10+ tickets. You're often better off buying a pass or package if you're going to ride more than 1-2 rides.
Copied from the Washington State Fair Website *Weekday Dizzy Pass is ONLY available and valid for use on Monday, Sept. 4, Thursday, Sept. 7, Friday, Sept. 8, Monday, Sept. 11, Wednesday, Sept. 13, Thursday, Sept. 14, Friday, Sept. 15, Monday, Sept. 18, Wednesday, Sept. 20, Thursday, Sept. 21, OR Friday, Sept 22. Not valid on Opening Day, Friday, September 1, 2017. Xfinity Dizzy Passes are valid for one-day use only by a single guest and do not include Fair gate admission. I know they had a bracelet pass on Friday but it wasn't free. And they have it again on the 9&10, then all Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. Not sure of the price
Only actual ADA service animals are allowed that are trained for a specific function are allowed. Emotional comfort animals are not. This is due to the nature of the fair.
I don't work for the fair but have worked in the petting farm. Usually opening is at 9 am. On the first day it is opened with the cattle drive and believe you can enter starting at 10am but not absolutely sure for the first day.
