Very nice people committed to what they do care about the animals

Very kind and wonderful people work here. Understand though that they simply cannot take every pet and keep them that is surrendered. They also cannot bare the burden of euthanizing every animal from all over the state! You need to take your pet to your veterinarian to have them euthanized!!! Everyone I've had the pleasure of interacting with here has been wonderfully kind and caring. I hope all the people that visit here are generous and have respect for the people who volunteer and work here!!!! There are simply too many idiots out there that, unfortunately, shelters like this one have to deal with! Idiots who want to criticize and cast blame but offer absolutely NO solutions or help! Wyandot County Humane Society is one of the BEST in the state despite what others say. They got butt-hurt about something and simply want to complain about it on here. They're usually the TikTok type of idiots with purple hair and mental illness.

Wanted a cat neutered but the waiting list was too long

Some animals are brought to us for that reason. They are suffering and at the end of their lives and their owners ask that we do that final merciful act for them. We have always offered that service for all animals including horses. On the other hand animals that are healthy and placeable we make all attempts to place them in loving homes. We do our absolute best for every animal that comes through our doors.
Cat spay is 45 /neuter is 25 shots and testing are also available. Kittens must weight 3 lbs. Discount of 10% if you have 3 or more animals. So you can save a little if you can convince someone else to get their pet spayed or neutered.
They are very kind and helpful. Just call them and see what their hours are.
I didn't answer because I wasn't sure... but I remember spay costs more then neuter. Good luck!
Rascal unit animal hospital in columbus might be of assistance as well.
Animals that are in the shelter, in the clinic for spay/neuter can be treated for tapes as well as other internal and external parasites. We don't routinely offer services of this type outside of those situations.
Usually we do, but the last one currently in the shelter was adopted just this afternoon. Check www.Petfinder.com - there may be others in nearby shelters. If more come in at some point we would post them there. Dave
Hi Jean, Probably the best source of ongoing information is our Facebook page. The staff and volunteers post regularly. We have placed about 40% of the animals with rescues and placements. Had an adoption event last weekend. More will be scheduled as the dogs are made ready for placement. All of them are being fully vetted and groomed. Some have serious medical problems that are being treated. All need dental care and some actually have erosion of the bone under the teeth from lack of prior care. Those require special treatment to get the bone to regrow and heal. It will probably be October or even November before all are ready and placed. As far as help....the community has been great, we are overwhelmed with food and supplies. Mostly at this time we need volunteer groomers and bathers - and always money. While our vets don't get paid much, the loss of the minimal income from the clinic while they work on these animals does put a strain on the budget.
The Wyandot County Humane Society never turns any animal away. We prefer to have them arrive between 8 AM and 10 PM 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
I would suggest calling them during business hours for a price. I can't imagine it is very expensive here but I cannot say for certain. They're website has their phone as: 419-294-4477
Males are $25, females are $45. Nail trim is complimentary upon altering. Phone number is 419-294-4477, ask for the clinic. Thank you for being a part of the solution to over population!!
Currently, adoptable dogs can be viewed at petfinder.com. Look under our name or zip code 43351. Appointments to have a meet and greet can then be made by calling 419-294-4477. Once an appointment is made the dog is held exclusively for that appointment. If the dog is not adopted it is then put back up.....almost all dogs have an appointment shortly after posting and are adopted during their first appointment.
Yes they take cards or cash. $3:00 service fee for the use of cards.
When we have an animal anesthetized for spay/neuter we do things like clean out ears and trim nails if needed, but we don't do these things outside of the time when they are down for surgery. There are groomers and clinics that can provide these services if needed.
Our dogs are in community kennels 10 x 6 inside 24 x six outside with other similar size dogs, depending on disposition. They are shut in at night, but can come and go during the day. Some dogs are in single kennels, meaning 3 by 10....not a crate. This can be for several reasons, the most common being a dog in quarantine for biting. Dogs are social/pack animals and do better in groups.
Yes. We have no geographic or financial restrictions on services.
Yes. call in the morning for more information
Do to COVID and the need to social distance we suggest people look at the available pets by going to. petfinder.com and put in zip code 43351 to see the pets. Then call for an appointment. Times are limited due to staff shortages but once an animal has a pending appointment we don't make additional appointments so it will definitely be there for your appointment.
Call them they are great people there. Very helpful and friendly
I'm not a veterinarian, but my first thought would be some type of ear problem or infection? It could also be something neurological or problem with the cervical spine? I would suggest that if it is in any distress from this that you take the bunny to a veterinarian for evaluation.
The Wyandot County Dog Shelter on sr 199 is open 8-10 ====== You are addressing your question to the Humane Society.
Call
Yes, and we also will take kittens that need a mother......we prefer to have both, but things happen sometimes and cats are pretty good about adopting more kittens. We never turn animals away.
We do take all animals including feral cats.
You can call them and they will give you a price, I know male cats are 25.00
This deserves a direct answer, but it is, like many things complicated. The shelter takes in 14,000 animals a year. The HOPE Clinic does surgery on another 10,000 animals a year.....total animals is 24,000 to deal with, provide care, food, cleaning. We have a staff of 26 employees, three telephone lines. If each animal ends up with one call before coming in and one after (and most are way more than two calls) that would be around 50,000 phone calls a year. That doesn't take into account the wildlife calls and calls for advice and other questions. That's over 136 phone calls a day....we simply don't have the time or the personnel to provide the answer to people who, though they care, had to give up their animal.
This shelter does the best it can for absolutely every animal that comes through its doors. Some animals are actually brought to be euthanized for a variety of reasons. So it is not a simple yes or no answer. There is no such thing as a so-called "no kill" shelter. If they turn animals away.....what happens to that animal? No one brings animals to a shelter as their first choice. Shelters that turn animals away also turn away the people seeking help. They don't care about animals, people or their community.
Probably couldn't get in touch with you...or....you didn't pay them. Many question unanswered. First ,why was your pet there. Second. Why. Don't you ask them.
There is never a charge to surrender an animal to this shelter. We take all domestic animals and are a licensed wildlife rehabilitation facility
I live in Hardin County and I know a groomer I can go through to get mine done in Wyandot county humane society through the Hope program and it's $25 for a male.
spay and neuter or done by appointment only you call them and they'll set appointment up do usually booking about 6 to 8 weeks in advance there that busy did you a great job at a low cost so call me as soon as possible and get it set up
We payed,75.oo for that also with all the shots.
Female dogs are $55 if memory serves me right. Exceptional clinic and exceptional prices! Also low cost vaccines, microchip and testing. Rebecca you may want to call now and get her scheduled. Dogs are booked out further than cats, and you don't want to wait until the last minute. Preventing the first heat cycle will also prevent mammary tumors/cancer later on. I've taken over 1,100 cats and dogs there in the past and I can't say enough, what a great clinic it is. Thank you for being a solution to the problem of so many unwanted pets!!
You need to call them directly and ask them. I know there are live traps you can use.
M-t 1-5. Saturday 11-2
This is not the actual website u may want to call them
You can call them to ask questions easy to look up with google
