This deserves a direct answer, but it is, like many things complicated. The shelter takes in 14,000 animals a year. The HOPE Clinic does surgery on another 10,000 animals a year.....total animals is 24,000 to deal with, provide care, food, cleaning. We have a staff of 26 employees, three telephone lines. If each animal ends up with one call before coming in and one after (and most are way more than two calls) that would be around 50,000 phone calls a year. That doesn't take into account the wildlife calls and calls for advice and other questions. That's over 136 phone calls a day....we simply don't have the time or the personnel to provide the answer to people who, though they care, had to give up their animal.

Im sure if you call them they would say i took a cat there because no one in Allen county or Wapkente shelter would take a cat they said they would only put the cat down if it got sick it is a great shelter
