Extremely family friendly. It is a super small state park but it was perfect. You can fish throughout the park and there is so much shade. It was over 100 degrees when we visited and we didnt complain once. The water wasnt high enough for the falls but there was more than enough swimming water (dam). Restrooms are clean and you can stay the night in a screened shelter for $30. It has a ceiling fan, concrete table inside, electricity. Because of the burn ban, we couldn't use the grill but propane stove was acceptable. Dogs are allowed on a leash. The staff was extremely friendly. Tubes and kyacks are available to rent, shirts and trinkets are available for purchase. It is located right in middle of town. There is a donut shop, gas stations, Sonic, dollar general, Lowes, restaurants within a mile. We will definitely go again!

Smallest state park I have been to so far, but one of the cleanest and it is a very well kept park. Beautiful water, no pollution...you can see the fish and snakes swimming below the surface in the Blanco river.

We had a great time here. The only thing that is a little strange is its really close to town, but when you are in the state park it feels like you are far out of town! Lots of nice tent camping spots.

Very nice small park with camping and shelters available. The lady at the desk is very friendly and helpful. The campsites are very well kept. We stayed in a shelter and it was amazing. The shelter wasn't dirty and it was great having power and some sense of security. It's large enough to fit a four person tent as well. Being next to the river is really cool as well and the park is close to food shops in case you forgot something. It can get loud at night due to it's location however.

Yes. And because it's within the boundaries of the state park you're not required to purchase a separate fishing license.
Yes pets are allowed. Dogs are to be kept on a leash. There are waste bags throughout the park.
Yes you can make reservations if you intend on camping/RVing on a holiday or what not. But otherwise you can usually find a spot. Keeping in mind you can have family reunions there, Birthday parties. Its really nice! Pet friendly but I don't think you can have a pet in the cabins. 😎
I don't see why not, as long as you clean up afterwards
Yes you are able to put up TENTS
The park is currently open and I didn't need a reservation this past Monday (1/17/22) for the day. You should reserve a camping site if you want to go, though.
The park is open, and is open for swiming. However you will need to make a reservation through the Texas Parks and Wildlife website. We were there two days ago. We tried to make another reservation yesterday but they were booked. Earliest we could get was July 18th.
Yes, just have to fill the form they have at the the park office.
Yes, we've used ours several times. But you need to bring your own wood or coal.
Yes they do accept card I suggest buy a whole year state parks pass if your family always go on family outdoor lifestyle.
Yes you can fish, don't need lisence in Texas state parks. Some bass and released rainbow trout.
At the camp sites it must be kept low enough that it cannot be heard at the next site. Quiet time (no music) between 10PM & 7AM.
I've caught some decent catfish here several times. Go left at the entrance and try to get the spot under the huge tree. Always have good luck there. Above the dam is smaller bluegill
We stayed for 5 days. You just have to book your stay. Either online or over the phone. It's 20 to 25 per day.
Yes. They have primitive campsites with no water or electric hook-ups. They also have some with water and electric hook-ups. They have R-V spots as well. I believe they still have cabins available but not sure if they are still there after the last flood we had.
River White
They have day use open for $5 per person, but once it fills up they will close it for the rest of the day. If you go onto their website and find a camping spot that’s still open, you can reserve it and guarantee entrance regardless of how full the park is.
I'm sure there were snakes around but no one saw one in the 5 days we were there. The park is really nice. We will be going back.
If you put in downstream from the park/dam you have a lot more river to explore
Screened shelters and the non-primitive RV/tent sites have electric/water hookups
The state park is literally in town. They have plenty of little business that may have bait. Also a Walmart is about 20 minutes down the road
Yes as of right now, but definitely get a reservation and bring your own equipment. No rentals.
State parks are open but do require reservations. https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/blanco
Its great. Whole areas for small children. Its basically a section of river you can walk through, with water up to an adult's shoulder, and with a few deep spots near the main damn/ spill way what ever you wanna call it. I had a lot of fun with my 11yr old son and 4 yr old nephew.
The water is pretty low right now and not flowing that well. You can swim still, but the water is becoming stagnant.
No, you need reservations for a daypass.
They're not renting yet because "they don't have a good process to sanitize the equipment". We just stayed there first week of July 2020.
They have a convenience store an eight of a mile from the entrance of the park
Yes, charcoal
I remember there being no cost
There is a booth when entering, but there is no window, so you have to go down and enter to pay, they are $ 5 per person, and so you refer to shade stores, there are no more if there are some tables and grills but very few, it is recommended They bring their own chairs and there are trees that give a lot of shade, shops to buy, if there is a gas station right next to the entrance ...
Texas park reservations can be completed online. Google Texas State Parks reservations. An account is required to make online reservations.
You may keep legal size fish.
No, sorry...or at least I didnt see any when i was there
The water is very close, this is a small park. You can see the river from several of the spots.
Yes. We recently stayed in #45 and put a queen and twin. We still had plenty of room for bags, ice chest, and other things. The picnic table is huge. There is a ceiling fan. The only thing I recommend is to take pliers to remove Staples so you don't pop your mattresses. It appears at some point people stapled plastic over the screened windows to block the air. At least they should remove them when they leave.
The Weather Channel shows scattered showers with 40% chance of rain for both days. I was surprised the weather channel was accurate when we stayed there last week.
Yes
Rangers office or the main texas park number
Yes. Go inside the park office and have them sign up for a Senior Texas State Park Pass. Its free and they can use it every time they visit a Texas State Park for a discount.
There are no hike and bike trails in the park and very few roads it's a very small Park
When they don't let people look for arrow heads it's probably for your protection. There are wild hogs running around in large numbers that are very aggressive but stay away from people.
There are cabins, very nice from the outside, but we were in a travel trailer. There is a website with prices.
No public drinking alcohol. So if your question is can you drink can beer while floating in the river, the answer is no.
They definitely have cabins but I don't know all the specifics.
Yes, you can check in later since you have paid in advance. Your campsite will be reserved for your arrival. Enjoy!
Most, if not all Texas state parks, have hosting opportunities. If you are a current Volunteer call TWPD in Austin to find out if there are opportunities. Keep in mind this is a pretty sweet gig, so there may be a wait list. Most state parks have "favorites" that come back year after year.
Depends on type of campsite: water/ electric, water only. $20 to $30.
No fishing license is required in a Tx state park IF you are fishing from the river bank or a pier. That's state park property. If you are in a boat, canoe, kayak, etc., on Tx state rivers - the Blanco, for instance- you must have a license. State park land is one thing, state rivers are another.
I would recommend a life jacket at all times. There are shallow areas but it can be slippery and has sink holes here and there. It is beautiful
You can bring whatever you want but no open containers so you'll have to pour your beer in a yeti or some type of cup.
Yes, there's plenty of available room on the water for it.
Picnic day use $5.00 per person if you do not have state park pass
You must be discreet. No public display is allowed and no glass bottles are allowed.
Yes first come first serve. Although you can reserve camping spots and screened shelters.
Yes you can
So all y'all that said yes your wrong sorry. I called and they said no not required inside the park. Thanks for the info tho
Fishing inside the park is allowed. We just left Blanco State Park as volunteers. You can pay the $5 entrance fee for the day fish to the Limit and yes you can take them home you do not need a license to fish inside the park.
